Blogging WA's benefits

My longest post so far

I've spent Easter Sunday working off and on creating one of my longest posts ever for my bootcamp site. Its been somewhat frustrating because Site Content has failed on me at least 3 times and not saved some of my latest text. Right now I'm not trusting the autosave function very much or even the "save" function.

I've had to rewrite several paragraphs 3 tiems now and the latest time is the worst. I lost everything I had written about the Site Rubix tool, Wordpress and more - as I go down the list of WA's benefits in my blog post. Its not that I can't rewrite it but it can be so annoying to redo it. I had 2000 words typed and now I'm back to just 1500 words, so I lost almost 500 words this last time.

Has anyone else noticed some issues with the auto save or save function?

Also some my formatting keeps disappearing and I have to go back and reformat headings and some paragraphs. I'm about ready to just publish and use the Wordpress editor to finish up. But then, my wordcount for the month will not be accurate. I love Site Content except for this.

You might consider using NotePad++ or Notepad or Word to help you create the article in the first place. Then when you are done, copy and paste that into SiteContent. Then if something happens, you do not lose too much.

I just keep doing my own saves as I go, I don’t like text that disappears.

Well done I see you finished!

I finally finished the post and published it. So glad. - Shirley

Well done.
I wonder why you are having this problem. I just did a 1200 word post with no issues.
Very strange indeed.
You've earned yourself a glass of wine

I had one or two issues. I normally do a draft on google documents in case of unforeseen technicalities.

I have not had a problem with the save features. I have had a few other hiccups not that bad though.

I have heard some talking about a new platform that is being rolled out soon. I thought maybe that was what was causing some of my issues.

Tried and true

I thought i had a simliar problem at first. you might had created the post as a template . and when you went back you are just going to the template( although you wrote as a post). I sometimes have sitecontent opened in more than one tab and i wasn't on my current version. i now go to my revision and go to the one with the most words.

I didn’t use a template

I have experienced this. I hit the save button after every paragraph after I do a spell check.

I had my first experience of this a few days ago. I had started writing a post and reached a little over 900 words. So nothing huge but it had taken me a while to get to the 900. Then when I logged back in to complete it that night I nearly fell over - there were 17 words.

I went to the last revision and thankfully most of it was there. It did concern me because I use the Site Content editor for all of my drafts and research now, and I wasn't sure why it happened.

Hopefully it's just a glitch and not ongoing, as I absolutely love the site content editor and don't want to go back to preparing everything in Word and copying it across.

Sorry you lost some content. That is beyond frustrating.

Sorry to hear this - I haven't ever had a problem.
Is it not possibly your internet connection dropping off every now and again?
It can be very frustrating.
Why hot write a paragraph and copy everything up to there before commencing the next paragraph and repeating?
Pain in the proverbial but then at least if it happens again you can simply paste the last thing you copied - at most losing the part of the current paragraph.
Hopefully it won't happen again though

yes, I could do that and in fact have been starting to use Word to copy my post to so I don't lose any more. But this is frustrating. I've been working on this all day and should be finished with it. Now I have 4 more sections to redo from the last loss and then I'll be finished. I have 1700 words and I think I'll just publish that and finish in Wordpress. Just wondered if anyone else was having problems. The saves in Site Content have been taking a lot time too when I click "save".
