Help Each Other

I just read about another member having their Amazon account close because of lack of sales. I hate that - it almost happened to me.

A few months ago, I offered to help other members who needed Amazon sales to keep from losing their affiliate account. I made a list of sites that I now go to to use their links when i order from Amazon (which is frequently). If you are a member who needs sales, pm me with your name and your website and I'll add that to my list of sites to cycle through when I order.

A quick suggestion. Wait until you have many posts and some traffic before applying to be an Amazon affiliate and it will work out better for you.

Offer to trade out with another member to make a purchase off their links if they will purchase from your site. There are over 1 million of us - no reason to not help one another. - right!

Here is the link to my "Helper Page": https://artbyshirleydawson.com/wealthyaffiliates

You can also help by clicking on other member sites and adding traffic or linking to a another site or exchaning guest posts.

Thanks for posting this, Shirley. We didn't know Amazon did this as we are still in our training phase. We still have a lot to learn, obviously! All the best, Colette and Philip

I’d love to be included. I’ll PM you.

This is rather a common mistake for newbies entering affiliate marketing. Here is a little advice, when you receive an email from Amazon or any affiliate program that your account is about to terminate due to lack of sales. Go to your account and terminate it yourself. Do not wait for them to terminate it. If you terminate it yourself, it is much easier to reactivate the same account later when you are ready. You don't have to go through the approval process again.

Very helpful advice.

You might want to create a blog for it. It will really help others.

That’s a very good advice. Thank you for sharing

Oh... I would like ti be included on the list! Lol. I hppe they can help me too. I would love to have both sales and rankings.

All the best

Bien

pm me with your name and website url.

Thanks a lot. I just did. Thanks again.

I have heard of this happening to many people and it has made me question whether to use Amazon. Personally I don't get why they do that. They promote people to sell their products at no cost to them. Then they set high regulations. To me it is not good business to close down a free promotion. When it happens to the same person a few times they may just move on somewhere else. Or like me, make them afraid to use them. I kinda giggle to myself that everyone likes free advertisement, except Amazon. In my husbands case they have shut him down 3 times, he has sales of over $600. that he has not been paid for since Feb. Starting to think that it is almost a scam. You get sales, they shut you down, and then don't pay you for your sales. Hmmm.

Could be like that. I don't know.

What?
He made sales, and then, Amazon just closed his account without paying him for his sales due to the "lack of sales" term?
In my opinion,
this is considered an unjust behaviour without any doubt!
Or
At least, people should not even agree to like those terms and conditions because it is risky, it can steal our time and efforts.

This is third time they have done this. He has had to reapply each time and change all of his links.

Totally agree Shirley, waiting until you have good content is an ideal solution. However, I did read somewhere that adding ‘Onelink’ can help.
I was just about to hit my 6 month period without a sale (although I changed to a new website halfway through this period) and I contacted Amazon through chat. I wanted to know if I could have the period extended, short answer was ‘No’. I then made an account for the UK and Canada and joined them through Onelink. My 6 month period was up 6-7 weeks ago and my account has not been suspended. Maybe worth trying this.

Thanks for good topic i just started on Amazon not that long ago and still learning out how to manage somethings there anyway your idea is a good way to protect yourself. Cheers, Jackson.

pm me your name and website url. I'll add you to my list. I just placed an order through another member's link tonight.

Thanks Shirley, it is a great idea.

Sounds great Shirley!

I will get you an addie soon.
Jerry

If you are really going to cycle through a list like that, also make sure that you clear your Amazon cookies before clicking through on a link to help someone, or they might not get the sale.

Amazon cookies are only 24 hours long.

How does this work? Do we have the link to learn this?

Thanks. Bien

I know, one thing I really dislike about Amazon. But often people will first go to Amazon, find what they want to buy, then go back to the referral link to make the purchase. Their first step dropped a cookie which will overwrite the referral link. I've seen a lot of people lose their commissions this way.

It's SUPPOSED to be the last one placed gets the sale. I can't (obviously) say that's what happens, but that's what is supposed to happen.

If you knew someone that would try it the way that you explained and buy through your link last AND you didn't get the commission I would expect a very large class action suit to be filed against Amazon.

It all comes down to the honesty of those involved. Sort of like the Wizard of Oz. "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain......"

It's that way unless the last cookie is Amazon's. Amazon does not let an affiliate cookie overwrite their existing cookie. Few merchants allow an affiliate cookie to overwrite their existing cookie. No class action suit. It's in the T&Cs; normally, one of those little items buried deep inside the details.

Just one more reason to wonder if Azn is worth the effort...?
You can usually get better commissions by finding another supplier (often the manufacturer or wholesaler)
I have an arrangement with the author of a book, available on Azn at a higher price but lower commission. The author pays 40%
I'm still persevering with Azn for now though.

I could give you a whole list of reasons why Amazon doesn't deserve to be the only company you work with, starting with lowest commissions and shortest cookie period. Good for you to work with others too.
