A Guest Posting Thread
I've been reading a lot about guest posting and the benefits. I think it would be cool for WAers to do guest posts for each other. How about we list our niches that we would like to reach out to receive and give guest posting to?
- Guest posting can:
- Increase your blog traffic
- Improve your reputation within a community.
- Get people to hear about your ideas and principles
- Highlight your talent to a target audience
- Get you recurring traffic for many months and years to come.
- Increase your subscriber rate substantially
Here are some tips and info to consider:
- Focus on the audience. Make sure the audience is yours also.
- Look at guest posting as an investment. Strategically invest your time and effort that gives you great return on that investment.
- Look for the investment of subscribers and customers.
- Go for backlinks but foremost, go for audience and community.
- Guest posting on a site within your niche is perfect for non-Google traffic.
- Make your priority authority, integrity and audience. Focus on quality over quanity to get good traffic.
- Be sure to ask for a link back to your site included (an anchor text link using your keyword).
- Guest posting is one of the most effectiwe ways to collect email newsletter subscribers. Make sure your guest post relfects this. Make a reference to it at the end of your guest post and optimize your landing page to collect subscribers.
- But the guest post is to be mostly a valuable post to the readers of the blog you are posting on, not a promotional post. Mention who you are and what you do at the end of the post. (maybe do an (author box where you can enter details about yourself).
- Don't ignore the relaationship with the blog owner, make a connection with them. This allows you to contact someone you may not have otherwise had a reson to content. You can get a foot in the door for many big names whether they accept your guest post or not.
How about we tell other WAers we are interested in Guest posting by commenting below. Give your name, something about your niche(s) and then ask for interested WAers to contact us. For this purpose I don't think it will hurt to list the sites we would like a guest post for so the other WAers can check it out to see if their guest post will be good for that niche.
I'll start:
I have 3 main blogs I'm working on right now. The links are on the bottom right of my Provfile page.
- A WA promotion blog site: "Earning Money in Retirement"
- A Diabetic blog site: "Growing Old with Diabetes" where I talk about living with type 2 diabetes, information about the disease, its complications, losing weight to help my BGLs, etc.
- A Online Mall site: "Bella Vista Online Mall" where I have many "shops" with products to purchase (mostly from Amazon). The Shops are:
- Seasonal Shop
- Art Shop
- Beach-Pool Shop
- Golf Shop
- Card Shop
- Cycling-biking Shop
- Clothing Shop
- Exercise Class Shop
- Fishing Shop
- Glory Shop (christianity)
- Hiking Shop
- Kayaking Shop
- Pickleball Shop
- Pet Shop
- Tennis Shop
- Volleyball Shop
- Tennis Shop
- Jewelry Shop
Each shop represents an activity that my city/community (which is an active retirement community) is interested in and I plan on many blogs posts related to each shop.

While I plan on having some guest posts for each of my blog sites, I will limit them to one guest post each month for each site. If your niche is similiar to mine and will reach the same audience, I will be glad to talk with you about exchanging guest posts.
I will accept your guest post as text in an email, a MS Word document, or an un-indexed WordPress page of yours that I can copy and paste. I can provide images for the post or you can put images in the Word or Wordpress page.

Looks like I am exchanging guests posts with Jeff and maybe Barbara. That takes care of my Earning Money in Retirement Site and my Growing Old with Diabetes site.
Does anyone want to exchange a guest post for my Bella Vista Online Mall site. There are a variety of "Shops and activities" you can write about there. Check it out and see if your niche will fit one of them. That would give me 3 guest posts this month which is my goal.

Best idea I have heard in a long time. I am going to take the bait and run with this one. I need to build out 3 sites for clients that are pretty much identical. Think I will go ahead and build a site just for this idea.
Being in the Health/Fitness niche it is very hard to get quality comments from non-professionals. There must be a few thousand WA'ers in that particular niche that would love to trade comments from fellow pros.
My theme allows me to "spotlight" people and websites in one section of the site. Perfect.
