I have word but I have started to use google docs because I can use them and access them on all my devices. So if you are writing an ebook and using google docs you can be productive anywhere, write a chapter in Starbucks for example.

There are a few FREE Word Processor programs out there. Probably two of the best are: WPS OFFICE WRITER and LIBREOFFICE WRITER.

I have written a few ebooks and published them over the years. You can find me on amazon under TD BAUER for some of my free stuff. I used free word processing programs for all my stories and the one that is available in print. Make sure you check out SMASHWORDS too... doesn't cost a dime to publish an ebook.

Remember we have free google docs with gmail too, bit of an alternative to word

If you have an iPhone, you could use Notes.
