I added a widget for categories, after naming the category there are no more options to give the drop down categories....well categories. Is there something I'm missing?

This will be generated as you add your posts to categories which you define yourself. So go to posts and do this and you will see the category menu populated.
That is what I am trying to accomplish, however it seems as though either my theme doesn't support it or my tech skills are even worse than I though. Thank You though
So I have that figured out, I see the confusion. I am wanting to do it with the widget "categories" I think it looks cleaner. But after adding a category it creates the drop down box but will not allow me to add anything in the drop down box. I have the post/pages assigned categories.

This happened to me yesterday too. Leo had a tutorial for this which was very good. He said to go to posts and add them under categories there. Only go to categories under appearance s o it puts it all on your web posts.
