Got a question. i got 30 or more ideas for my site. been doing alot of research. But i don't know how to decide what should be pages and what should be posts. any suggestions?</

Glad I saw this because Iwas wondering the same thing so thanks for raising it Scott x

lol keep tabs im sure i will post more questions. I can write a program but cant figure out which i should make my content lmao

Mark Tait makes an important point that in terms of ranking it does not matter. In my experience, it is easier to build the site around pages, I think, then add content in the form of posts. But you have to experiment, and you can take the contents of a post and turn it into a page, or the other way around. Craig

Thanks for the tips.

I use pages for static content. I also use "hidden" pages where I make the titles not appear in the menu, for such things as my autoresponder's thank you and confirmation pages, lead capture pages, sales pages.

I suggest you visit some popular sites and check out how they do it. After a while,
you will "get it". ~ Jude

Hey Scott, dude I have struggled with that so many times... excellent question!

Isn't a post an article you stick on a page? That's what I always figured :) Don't stress over it. Just get the ideas out and down, then you won't be fussed about it.

A good simplification :D

Hi Scott - I use pages for specific items I want to be constant in my website. Anything else should be a post. Also you can only fit as much pages to your navigation menu. Just my two cents. Hope it helps.

I spend all day yesturday trying to copy and paste wealthy affiliate post on my website don't work..thank you for the information ...am learning as I go...you guy are great help...

Good question Scott! Pages are static content and can be thought of as part of your site structure which also factors into your menus. For instance, your About Me, and Privacy Policy are pages since those stay the same and will be accessible from a menu. Posts on the other hand are your articles, or content, that you post on a regular basis. Those show up in your blog roll which is the main page of your site by default.

This training might help explain it a little more -- https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/pages-or-posts-when-how-to-use

Kyle also talks about it in the Level 1 training, I think lesson 8 maybe.

thanks MaudMan.

No problem. I struggled with this a bit myself. My site is primarily for reviews of a certain type of product that has a few different styles or categories. Here's what I decided to do....

I created a static page for each style/category I will be reviewing. Each one of those pages has a short blurb explaining that particular category. Now, as I write reviews. those will be posts (not pages). Each time I post a review, I will then go update the major category page and post a link to the review. Eventually, as I write more and more reviews, the category pages will basically become master index pages to all the reviews I've written in that category.

Make sense? Of course, that's just how I decided to do it for now. We'll see how it works out, and I may change my strategy later. :)

Awesome. I appreciate the details. was a big help.

Something that has been itching me too!

I suppose the difference is more in structure than anything else. If you wish to write it as a blog, I'd suggest using posts. If you want it to be a typical website, use pages. I believe there is very little difference regarding SEO.

Hi Scott - in terms of ranking, it doesn't matter if it's a post or a page. It's content.

As long as you have the recommended privacy policy and about me pages - every other post can be a blog post if you like - I would add categories though, so that people can click on a specific category, and get a list of posts relating to that.

Or you can opt to make every one a page - and create a menu that lets you navigate to every page.

But it doesn't make a difference in terms of ranking - so do what you think looks best for your site.

I hope this helps?

All the best, Mark

Thanks Mart i appreciate it. Im just trying to find some kind of guideline to decide what goes where but if it don't matter Ill just make what i think is most important pages and the rest posts. Thanks again .

No problem Scott - the link Dave provided to Kyle's view is probably the best to follow. It essentially says either or :)

All the best, Mark

I've come up with 8 steps to keep motivated but would like to broaden my viewers options. Here's what i got

  1. Setup a plan: You need a plan of attack

Nice!!! Definitely going to keep this page in mind!

Thanks ill keep it fresh so you always have something new :)

Well done Scott. A good list.
The key word I use is 'Belief'.
I have it as a sign above my door and tattooed on my wrist (in Chinese).
Without belief in yourself, your goals and dreams, the black clouds can sweep over you.
Stay motivated and all the best.

Thank you for the compliment.

K. Basics: 1)Identify the problem 2)Provide a solution 3)Conclusion. You have 2 covered and to an extent 3. Add a paragraph at the top, perhaps including some keyword tied to the title and it's a winner. ;) (this is my opinion only, your opinion may vary based on your experiences.)

Thank you for the insight. I'm always up for suggestions.

Hey I signed up to jaaxy.com and was going to do the affiliate program but it says i have to get an affiliate ID from an adminstrator. Do i just get one from kyle? or is there s

Hi and congrats on using Jaaxy, I live on it somedays. Are you still using the free trial (if so, I doubt you can get affiliates) or are you now paying? If paying go to the dashboard and hover over the "Affiliate Program" tab and on the drop down you will see "Affiliate Resources". Click that and you will see your affiliate link as well as the plugin (which is really useful to use).

no free trial. Kyles walkthrough video said u can get the affiliate program with the free trial

Hey Scott,

Your Jaaxy Affiliate link is found within your Jaaxy.com account. Click on "Affiliate Program" from the main menu when you are logged into Jaaxy, and then click on "Affiliate Resources" from the drop down menu.

Cheers,

Carson

i did it says to contact an administrator for an affiliate ID.

Hmm, this sounds strange, you should see your affiliate ID in there. I'll look into this for you and report back once I figure out why you don't see your affiliate ID.

Thanks,

Carson

Same here. Just created my Jaaxy trial account today, and no affiliate link. I thought trial users could get more searches added by referring others to Jaaxy. No?

Thank you Carson i appreciate it.

Yes, we've found the issue and are working to get it sorted out.

Thanks for letting us know.

Carson

Awesome, thanks Carson

@Dave, @Scott, you both have affiliate Accounts setup now with your Jaaxy accounts. Apologies for the issue, took us a little bit to fix on this rainy Saturday!

Let me know if you have any issues getting your affiliate ID's from within Jaaxy on the Affiliate Resources page.

Carson

You rock -- thanks Carson!

Thanks Carson i got it now.

Hi Carson,
I have the same problem. I get no Affiliate ID link with my free Jaaxy Trial. Can I have this resolved for me too please?
