I'm trying to understand the differences between pages and posts? Can anyone explain when one or the other is appropriate?

Usually pages are used for static content and posts for content that keeps changing or is past of the blogroll. posts are basically for blogging, but can be used for anything by now. Kyle previously used pages for about me page, but now also uses posts for it.

Posts used to be different, but has more and more the same nowadays to pages.

Pages generally is displayed without date in the top, while posts are, but everything depends on the theme.

Steven

Thanks for the response...I appreciate it!

you are most welcome!

Steven

A page doesn't get indexed by google and also people don't comment on it example your about me page your affiliate disclosure.

that's actually not true. Everything gets indexed in Google, unless you press on the checkbox for no index.

People can also comment on them, you just need to enable it for pages.

yaaa forgot to mention that been a long day

Post type switcher plug-in did the trick...piece of cake :)

Ya I used that a couple times works great. Tip deactivate it when not using it you don't want to many plug ins they can slow your site down.

The pages are just the same thing showing up all the time, a static page like the privacy policy and then on the homepage of the website, you would have all posts. So a continuous page of all blog posts. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the information. I made my "About Me" content as a post and it was confusing me. Now I just need to figure out how to convert a post to a page within WordPress and all should be good.

Thats alright, you will have to copy and paste all the text onto a new page from the post and then add the image on again. All the best

Anybody have any suggestions on the business structure, i.e. Sole Proprietorship, LLC, when pursuing a WA venture?

Great question Scott and a definite concern for someone looking to creating a sizeable business and maximize tax deductions while doing so.

It really comes down to what you want to accomplish. I have an S-corporation for my business because the tax structure suits me. FOr others that would not be appropriate.

I would recommend you check out markjkohler.com. I have taken his advice for the past four years and it has worked well. He has several books that would certainly assist you.

If you want a link to business structure assistance, PM me and I will send that to you. I teach this kind of info to people as part of a morning business session to an RV Tech Course class.

Press on . . .

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. Going to keep going with the flow for now. Right now I have a very minimal investment in this business but eventually I'll want to write my expenses off. Not so concerned with liability at this stage in the game.

When I do make a decision on business structure I want to make the right decision the first time and want to try and avoid switching or changing positions based on new information or other reasons.
