Teaching is Just Another Way to Learn

Another way to put it: Giving feedback on another's site is another way to learn how to make yours better.

I've finally achieved the 14th out of 36 tasks on Level 2 training. I'm not breaking any speed records but I'm thoroughly enjoying every minute I spend reading or writing on the WA platform.

To reach the 14th task means reviewing 2 other sites and earning credit to have your own site submitted for review.

This is a valuable, priceless opportunity that I feel many are not taking advantage of. Before watching the video and submitting my reviews I read through a few comments below Kyle's video: Site Feedback - Benefits and Full Walkthrough.

Many felt their beginning knowledge of website development and content creation meant they are not qualified to review another's site and be able to give meaningful feedback. Other's felt their own site to require much more work before submitting for a review.

To those who fall into either category, those thoughts will not help you progress as an affiliate marketer - or anything else!

When I was in design school and learning to create floor plans and elevations in AutoCAD part of the training was to submit every plan to fellow students - even designers and architects out in the field for review. As part of a design or architectual firm with a degree and license and all that nothing changes. Your plans are still reviewed by others for accuracy before submitting for a permit from the city/municipality/county, etc. You actually want other's to find mistakes and if they don't it means they did not take the time to find them. The time for finding mistakes is before the plan is submitted for a permit. Think of the time and money saved when a plan is submitted (requiring no corrections or modifications) to the permit issuing entity (city/county/municipality) and receives approval. The allows builders and contractors to begin on time. If the plan has to go back to the "drawing board" that causes a delay in starting a project which causes a delay in completing the project on time...

No different here. If your site is "out there" but lacks key components to drive traffic then you experience a delay in visits, comments and profit.

The saying, "can't see the forest for the trees" fits here. Often you look at something for too long you are not able to see mistakes or where something could be improved upon that will pay off later down the road. A second (or evenn third or fourth) set of eyes can sometimes the difference between your site's success and failure.

Getting back to the example above, as a side benefit of reviewing other's plans I was able to learn tips and techniques that improved my own drawings.

I will use this opportunity to review other's websites as another avenue to improve my own and welcome any feedback I receive on the content of my site - which is the very definition of a work in progress.

The information you share discussing all aspects of another's work becomes INFORMATION YOU OWN. This is also how you grow and develop and learn to accept other's viewpoints for what it is - simply feedback.

No need to take anything personally - especially here at WA.

We are all here only to help.

So get out there and submit a few website reviews!!! You may be surprised by the results!!!

Great post.

Good thoughts! ... in scientific projects, used to be involved in 'peer reviews' and that was helpful in shaping project specs. -- similar idea here with 'sober second look' at newly built websites for feedback -- beneficial before 'formal' launching on the big wide web! so to speak ... thanks kindly for sharing, cheerio... :)

As intimidated as I felt starting that process I'm glad I did it.

Sounds like you're taking the right steps onward to Success! ... keep at it! ... and your kindness is being returned at least a hundred-fold... all the very best & thanks kindly for the follow, cheerio... :)

True. You learn as you teach!

And I have learned quite a lot from your posts alone!

Never stop teaching - Never stop learning!

Thank you Susan!

As I accomplished this task I came to appreciate what WA was doing for all its members as we were helped to see our sites through the eyes of others and so improve them.

Yes, I now have even more appreciation for what is available here at WA.

Well said Susan, often times by reviewing others’ website and providing comments and feedback we learn ways to improve our own site and also notice things we had previously missed.

I did feel a bit intimidated at first but so glad I plowed on through and did it!
