I have a few posts on an old Wordpress blog of mine that I want to move to my WA blog I'm creating while going through the lessons. I've searched through WA for how to do that b

The duplicate content IS a problem. Someone on live chat last night got an email from google that they won't index his site, said he didn't meet quality standards or some such stuff. He moved old blog posts over from other site.

The best way to do this is to rewrite the posts or follow what it says on link I gave you. :)

Thanks. I read that article. Much of it went beyond my current knowledge and understanding. I'm not real familiar with the inner workings of blogging, indexing, getting traffic or rankings. Talking with Vitaliy has convinced me to just leave all my old stuff where it's at and try to figure out a way to link back to that content. I'd hoped to take the best of the old site and move it to this new one, then link to the remaining stuff but it seems Google doesn't like you doing either of those things. Thanks for answering my question. It was helpful.

Glad you have a way forward Eliza, Vitaliy is great. :)

Hi Eliza. Basically copy the posts into a file on your computer (always wise to have backup), paste them into your new website and then delete them from your old one. This is also a good opportunity to modify the posts as you are learning more about keyword research and could probably improve the quality of the old posts. If your old site was getting any traffic then I would put a redirect to your new one until Google indexes your new one.

Thank you. I was worried about the duplicate content thing. Once it's deleted, that's not a problem anymore?

This is an article about deindexing content, http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.co.uk/2007/04/requesting-removal-of-content-from-our.html

In my view the easiest way is to rewrite the articles if there are only a few. :)

Hi Eliza. Once it is deleted then the next time Google looks at your old site it adjusts it's findings accordingly. But if you have taken the opportunity to upgrade your old posts then that is even more reason not to worry about duplicate content issue.

Question, do you know, or do you know who would know, why we can't just use the import button in the dashboard? I've had a blog through Wordpress for several years, long before I knew anything about WA. Several years ago, I started another one and exported some posts out of my old blog into my new one. Those options are also on my blog I'm setting up with WA training. Why can't I just import the posts I want from my old blog by using that same method?

Keyword, Niche and Market Research
Updated

I know my niche is broad (mothering) but I intend to break it up into catagories and address specific keyword topics as I go. Ex. reading to children, board books for babies, bo

I would suggest you build out your website within one specific vertical of mothering instead of trying to tackle the entire thing. I love your idea and I love your domain name, but don't try to build out a massive menu of ideas on your website before you have the content...this will lead to an overwhelmed feeling.

For example, you may want to start with infants and babies initially and help people with infants. I know most new moms (for the first time in particular) feel they have two left feet and are constantly online looking for things/help.

Kyle, thanks for weighing in on this. I'm glad you liked the name and understood my intention with it. I see your point with getting overwhelmed. There are so many things I want to say and do with this site but will implement your suggestions and begin with infants/babies. I love that I don't have to have it all done tomorrow. :) Good thing as there are so many facets to this particular arena of life. Thanks again for the input.

left a comment on your site you need more visuals and you should change the back ground to a different pattern or color with out the crisscross all the best

I guess the crisscross isn't a hit. Frankly, I didn't see it until you all told me, so I'll look into changing that for sure. Thanks for the input and your comment on my site.

Hi Eliza! I agree and think you definitely need some subheadings. I like the site (red logo), but people are indeed very visual. The criss-cross background was way too much for me and I couldn't stay at your site for very long. God Bless! ~Cathy

Okay, thanks for letting me know. I'll look into changing that then. I appreciate the input. Blessings to you too.

Well, shoot. That theme doesn't let me customize the colors or the background. I'll have to give this some thought.

Hi. I think your site is looking very nice. The only thing I would consider is breaking up my paragraphs and adding images. People online are very visual and want to look at something besides the written content.

Breaking up your paragraphs will also help your readers to keep following.

Other than that, doing great! :) Michelle

Thanks so much for your feedback. I see your point and will take your suggestions.

When using the keyword tool, how do I delete keywords that I've saved into lists. I don't want to delete my list, just some of the keywords I've saved to the lists I've created.

This option is available in Jaaxy but not the WA keyword tool as far as I know. Jimmy made a good point though as this approach can also work.

Thanks. I'll take his suggestion. I may end up subscribing to Jaaxy but for now, I'm going to try to stay with the keyword tool.

Of course :) I sometimes use the WA keyword tool, but Jaaxy is also great.

i have asked this question before too but did not get an answer. So what I have been doing instead is just saving the keywords I want into a new list (so it's a shorter list) and just deleting the original list...

Hope this helps!

-Jimmy

Thanks, yes it does.

Okay, I decided to do your suggestions but when I click on my saved keyword lists, open a particular list and try to save the ones I have decided to actually focus on, there is no way to save them to a new list as they're already saved to a list? How do you do this?

sorry...i should have clarified this. I would first create a new list, then I'd have to type in each keyword I want and save it into the new list.

I know it's kind of a pain and tedious. But this was the only way I would shorten the list.

Thanks. I agree...a pain but oh, well.

Do your keywords have to be included in your website title or tagline?

In addition to the good answers you already have, I like to use the keyword towards the end of my post/page also. I think you will quickly drop your uneasiness about both WA and your own abilities here. Best of luck to you You will find all of the great help you wish for only asking.
Harold.

Thanks. This is a friendly place, it seems. :)

Hi Eliza, Your primary niche keyword should be in the WEBSITE title... tagline is nice but not necessary. After that - keywords should be used in articles as Vitaly mentioned below. Good luck to you!

Thanks

It should be in the post/page title. So if my keyword was:

How to make money online, I could make a post or page and in the title put something like:

How everyday people are learning to make money online.

Notice my keyword isn't worded exactly as the one above, but its ok if the words are still in it. The title looks better and it still has the main keyword listed.

Also add the keyword somewhere in your first paragraph, then from there write freely. I personally stick to over 1,000 words.

okay, thank you.
