You need to follow the training. When you select a theme, it is blank so that you can customize it. If you follow each lesson, you will be shown how to CREATE a website

Some themes provide content demo data, you import the demo content, it creates your home page which you can then modify to suit.
Many themes don't, so you need to add a home page and build it from scratch.
I find it easiest to do a Google search for WordPress themes with content demo data, check out what you like and then add the theme through you WP dashboard.
There are free themes that do this, you don't need to buy a theme to get it.
