Thanks everyone for your help. Got a better understanding of categories and what was happening on my site.

Hi Sam

I had a quick look round your site but didn't come across anything that led me to any "Category: (category name)" page.

This Category page is like your blogroll but specifically for anything classified as that category.

When you write a post in the WP admin area on the left hand side there is a box where you can create categories & assign one or more applicable ones to your post.

Categories are useful as your website grows in content. Visitors can choose to see all posts specifically relating to what they are interested. You can think of Categories as the chapters in a reference book & tags as the item found in the index at the back of the book.

Hope this helps :)

I use categories for men's jackets, ladies jackets, chaps.

You should be able to remove it under widgets.

I had set up an initial website, put 2 keyword rich original posts out, and the site showed up as being indexed by Google within days. That's good, I know. But here's the probl

I don't think you will have a major problem because all you did was just change sites.

If you removed the posts, I don't think it will flag as duplicate content as the originals are gone.

Thanks, that's what I thought too. Hope we're right!

I wonder if there's a way to set up a re-direct (301, I think) from the old site to the new one, so search engines know where the content went.
Honestly, the content is so new out there, and though indexed, you're probably not ranked very well yet, so it's really a small worry. But still a good question.
