Since I tried to add an affiliate link (unsuccessfully), the rest of my blog post disappears when I abbreviate and continue it.

Thanks for all of the responses, but I have solved the problem. It was a Permalink setting.

I think you have it covered good luck

Upsgirl is doing great tonight. It looks like she has you covered.

The secret? Folgers!!! Thanks!

Either that or Jolt -ha-ha

Sally I wouldn't have a clue how to stop that. But I think I am experiencing a similar situation when I a writing in these comment sections.

Im glad to hear you resolved your problem. Good news

I never asked but I would love to see your website and what you have been labouring over the past weeks. So much to learn.

There are 2 issues...
1. The Blog has to have enough content so when you click MORE, there is something to read.
2. Copy the affiliate link and have it ready to paste. Highlight the word/phrase where you want to insert the affiliate link. Click on the INSERT LINK icon and PASTE your url. Save your changes.

I followed those instructions exactly. I got the ad to work on a blank page, but linking within the blog post is not working.

Well, let's examine the link...please post it here.

<iframe style="width:120px;height:240px;" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" src="//http://ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822>
</iframe>
This is copied from my Amazon affiliate page. The link loads as "About:Blank."

Oh you're going to laugh. This will get pasted into the TEXT portion...it is not a link to an item. Try it and let's see.

OK. Resolved the link issue, but not my original question. What happens to the rest of my post when I use the "more" button?

What do you mean? Let's start over...
What are you trying to do? Amazon Widget? Image Only? Text Only? Image and Text Only? Are you putting this in a Sidebar Widget? Post or Page?

When I use the "more" button for my post, and click on "continue reading," the page displayed reads, "That page can't be found." It is a simple home page post. It worked properly before I began placing links. I have examined the html code and cannot find anything amiss.

Please, what is your link? Let me see.

I solved it. It was a Permalink custom setting. I reset it to default. Good golly, the details you learn while troubleshooting. Thank you, upsgirl, for your persistence. I appreciate it. Now we both know how to help others with this problem.

Well, that wasn't it so I will wait for you to PM me...lol!

e.g., sandy@coolteacherstuff.com

Once setup, it is activated. Did you try sending yourself an email?

Where do I check? On WA or WordPress site?

Thanks. I found the spot and retrieved my email.

WA and since you're here, go to SiteRubix and then Site Manager. Look across the top. Do you see Site Email? Click there...

Oh good...so you are okay?

I am trying to add affiliate ad products.

Thanks, Marion. I will try those.

The way I have done it is copy the code by highlighting the code, copy, go back to your site in edit. Choose the page or post that you want the ad. there will be 2 boxes on the upper right corner. One is visual and the other is text. You need to be on text. Scroll down to where you want the add. Click where you want it and paste. Go back to visual to see the ad. If its amazon you will see just a grey box. You can move the ad by clicking on it and move right, center, left. You can't drag it anywhere else. If you don't like where it is simply delete it and paste it somewhere else. I have to do this a few times to get it where I want it. Hope this helps!

Thank you for the tips. I will try that.

I am new to Wordpress. Can I create a 2 or 3-column page?

I believe the theme's will carry one selection 2 or 3-column through out the whole site. Are you looking to mix it up by showing some pages as 2 and others as 3 columns.
If the themes are unable to do it I know another way.

Yes, I think I want the variety of slightly different layouts on the pages. Would you post the steps? I am sure there are others who would like to know.

My theme allows ether 2 or 3 columns not both but if you use 2 column for your main site say right column and any page that requires 2.
Create a sub-domain that will have 2 columns this time choosing left.
When ever you require 3 columns, link in the pages from your sub-domain.
Example main domain Car by make. (Toyota)
Sub-domain types of Toyota or parts, accessories etc.

Main domain slightly broader where your sub domains are smaller niches. Less content in the beginning on main because of sub-domain but more back linking etc.

Hope that helps. Thinking out of the box.

That does help. Thanks for the lesson.

I think this is purely theme dependent. Which these are you using?

Thanks. Changing themes would be my last option.
