We are often told that we learn from our failures in live. Yet the turn failure to me seems quit complete or as an end results. Why don't we just call them what they are, setbacks.

"Failure is the state or condition of not meeting a desirable or intended objective, and may be viewed as the opposite of success." ~ Wikipedia

Failure can perceived as an end point, a point of which there is no other option, a final outcome. If we are building a home business, we need to look at success as the final outcome. This would mean that if we try something that does not work, its a Setback.

We are all interested in the final outcome of Success. Consider success to be the core objective that has not yet been met. So failure as a final objective should not be within our goals or vocabulary. Setbacks are considered problems, problems that have solutions.

There are solutions to our success within home business, many people have tried and have succeeded. This proves that there is a solutions, we just need to gather the thing that make us succeed and put them all together. The setbacks that we have we shall learn from to move toward our goals of success.

I read an older post this morning on this very subject.

http://www.liveinthegrey.com/setbacks-vs-failures/

This was a great post to help you get a little more focused. In one section you will see the statement.

" A setback has to leave scars before it starts to become a failure."

How do you interpret this?

I see scars as reminder of things I did in the past that are from a setback like from trying to ride my bike. I have a scar on my right shoulder when I broke my collar bone riding my bike. Did I give up? No that would be a final outcome. A Failure. What I did was get back on the bike, once healed, and started to ride Success became that final outcome.

That scar still reminds me of something I did that just was not quit right. All I had to do was correct the setback and move forward. Forward to my goal of riding a bike. I overcame the setback to turn it into my success as the final outcome.

Hi Ken,
I'm retired now but for more years than I care to remember, I was a supervisor over an engineering unit. We hired a lot of young engineers straight out of the university system. Many of these young engineers were actually afraid of making mistakes with their designs. They were afraid of Failure.
I always told them that if you gained knowledge from the mistake it wasn't a Failure, it was a Learning Experience. You would be surprised at how that gave those new engineers the nudge that they needed to be successful.

Thanks for the post Ken.

Great story Larry, Being afraid to fail restrict people from showing off their full talent and skill. Yes making mistakes is how we learn to build our way to success.

Nice post. Setback is not going anywhere. Scars are scars and we all get them. Personally, I believe they are both overrated, and we pay too much attention to them. My mentor say to me onetime. Bishop, we have to stop beating ourselves up and just let it go. My take on this wonderful article.
Bishop

The potholes that labor on the vehicle and calibration. Just give it more gas but you will also notice the holes more clearly

Everything, what makes me uncomfortable, pushes me forward. Mistakes, choosing wrong direction prompts to look for other ways. Thanks for great blog.

These are not failures. They are more setbacks, mistakes, problems, misdirections. A way for us to look at other options, try a different avenue, learn from our mistakes. You Got It!

Yes, life would be dull without mistakes and wrong decissions.Thanks.

Well thank you for an awesome reminder! Which words we use does matter, because they create a mindset in us that affects our actions.

So let's stop using the words fail and failure when talking about our business. Setbacks we will all encuonter and learn from.

Katrin

That was me mindset as well Katrin. I feel the words fail or failure gives us a poor mindset. Setback sets us in the mindset that we can accomplish a goal, its just going to take a little extra time and effort.
