I've tried doing email forwarding to my GMAIL and my Hotmail but neither works...
I had a little trouble with this also. My problem was within gmail I wasn't following the gmail instructions the way I should have been.
Also, I would go back through the training again. Here is the link:

The problem is my email here at W.A doesnt forward any messages to the mail Account i've put in.
Tried making a regular email account on W.A. Didnt receive and emails to that inbox either
I had another problem early on. I contacted support and they found some issue with it. They fixed it pretty fast.

Why doesnt email forwarding work?

I see Paul has helped you out with the Gmail forwarding, once you have that set and if you need the Gmail to respond to your subscribers with your domain name in the response.
You will have to follow this tutorial. Create Your Professional Website Email Address as Email Forward to Your Gmail If you don't set up your Gmail to respond with your domain name then your Gmail email will show to your subscribers.
