Hey guys I tried to solve this problem on my own but alas, my technical expertise has run out.

I created a logo for my website and was wondering how to add it onto the tit

I'm working on a logo as well. So any info you get I would certainly appreciate you letting me in on it.

Of course! Everyone pretty much covered how to incorporate your logo, but if you are asking how I designed my logo I'd be happy to help you out!

I'll be getting in touch with you.

As freedomsekr mentioned, what you want is a favicon. I use this site:

favicon.co.uk

It's quick, it's easy, & best of all.....ITS FREE! My advice would be to give it a shot.

Wierd. For some reason, that link goes someplace else. Try this one:

http://favicon.co.uk

Sorry about that!

Hey Ryan, I'm going to run into this problem.

I can produce graphics for print, though flexibility on the web is different. Which is why I am trying to learn markup (& dreamweaver). Not progressing well though, & I think about 80% of sites use CMS's now anyhow.

I want to have the flexibility of HTML & CSS to build visual appealing sites. Though WordPress is just so much easier than getting my head around markup. Some people find it easy as - not me. I will persist though, it's kinda crucial to my intended niche :/

Great logo btw

Very interesting I hope the discussion helped. I know it helped me out! Thanks!

I think you have to save the image in your gallery and insert it into the widget for header. Widgets are in your back office or dashboard.

Hi Ryan,

Very nice logo! I'm not really sure how you add the logo to the title of your website yet, that's something I need to do also. Once I get a logo that is, lol.

I think you're talking about a favicon when you mention the logo in the opened tabs at the top of your browser. This is another thing that I must do yet, but I did take a peek at a tutorial here on adding a favicon that I think would be helpful. Here it is https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-easily-create-a-favicon-for-your-wordpress-site

If you type in favicon in the search bar above there's some more that show up too. Hope that helps and let me know how it goes. Like I said, I still have to do this, so I'm hoping that will work for you. Good luck! -Sherry

Thanks Sherry! Everyone jumped on this very quickly and I already updated my favicon. Honestly I had no idea what a favicon was previous to this discussion.

That's awesome, already got it done! Good job! :)

Look here how you change the favicon, the one on the tabs. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/changing-the-favicon-of-your-website

Thanks! I already set it thanks to BlueDot!

It depends on your theme that you are using and whether the theme has custom logo edits. Some themes do and instruct you with suggested dimensions. The tab with image you are referring to is called a Favicon. There is a plugin that will insert your favicon image for you, but you may need to re-size the dimensions.

Ahhhh Thanks! I have seen the Favicon plugin but wasn't familiar with the vocabulary. Thanks that was definitely the more important issue!

I did not know this. Thanks for the information, I was looking for a solution for this "little problem" too, but as Ryan-Ibara I did not know how it was called!

Hey guys I looked around WA on how to add a forum to my site and couldn't find anything. Anyone know how to add a forum on Wordpress?

Thanks guys this has been a real help!

Great Discussion Ryan. Yesterday I downloaded bbPress which is, so they say made by the developers of wordpress.

Heres my review

1. Easy to install
2. Easy to create a forum
3. Formatting seems a little painful. You will need to find an app to take care of the CSS stuff. If you know CSS then you can edit it yourself.
4. There is a support site to help you with all aspects of it.

I downloaded it from here http://bbpress.org/ and then uploaded the zip file via the add new plugin.

Looks like there will be a learning curve to actually get this to look the way you want.

The documentation for the plugin is handy guide to getting setup.

I am not 100% on if I will stay with this forum as it will depend on how easy it is to format to the way I want it.

I am testing this on a non production site.

Regards James

I see mark gave you A great place to find one ---You can google search --- ( fourm+ for wordpress ) and find others ---I hope anyway !!!

Hi Ryan - I've not used a WP one, but there are many you could have a look at here: http://wordpresshostingreview.net/top-5-wordpress-forum-plugins/ as a start.

I hope this helps?

I have asked this question in one of the course but I could use some more clarity and some newer members may have the same question.

I understand that course 2 was about b

Ryan, your site is coming along just great. I wouldn't be afraid to put at least one ad, perhaps a a nice squared banner in your right menu widget. You have a good amount of content there already. The ad in the widget will show on each page anyway. Later you can look at ads within your content and at the footer. I agree with Zac about focusing on getting traffic, but if you don't have traffic yet, it won't hurt to have the ad there ready and waiting...lol...~ Jude

Thanks Jude! That actually sounds like a decent idea. I really doubt people would be annoyed with one banner. I may, just try and put some content in Product Reviews and place links there. But for now I'm working on increasing my current content quality.

To answer your question Ryan. You should know when to monetize your site and right now if you don't think your site is set up enough then you want to make sure it is. Just concentrate on building your site out and not on monetization. When you have a regular flow of traffic then you can start monetizing.
Just keep adding content to give credibility to what you are providing your reader.
Your niche market has a lot of product you can monetize but traffic should be your key objective for now.

Thanks I have definitely been doing that. I did NOT think it was ready, I am just eager to move on to lesson 3.

I talked to Carson and I have been adding more quality and quantity to all my pages, so I think I am going in the right direction.

Let's put aside the monetization question and talk about the site for a minute.

You've decided to build an affiliate site instead of a blog. Congratulations are in order because you've done what 95% of people don't do - you took action! Now let's tweak it and get it to work for you.

Affiliate sites are getting increasingly more and more difficult to make money from because readers are getting wise to them and their message - BUY NOW-BUY NOW-BUY NOW! Affiliate sites are also harder to rank for in the search engines because Google loves sites that are constantly updated with fresh, unique awesome content. A blog allows you to do just that with a few clicks. Your current setup doesn't seem to allow for you to add any more content.

While this business model used to work 10 years ago, it is quickly falling by the wayside. Readers don't want you to sell them shovels - they want you to teach them how to dig a better hole. More clearly, your intent is to engage your readers with compelling content that helps them to solve their problems. In your particular niche, people are looking for ways to incorporate diet and exercise into their busy lifestyles, or they are looking for affordable ways to diet and exercise because it can get expensive. These are just a couple in a variety of sub-niches that you can position yourself as an expert in.

Who is your target audience? Are they male or female? are they single or married? Do they have children? Are they wealthy or poor? The more specific you get, the better your chances are of dominating the niche.

This also determines the type of content you will write. Remember you want to empathize with what they are struggling with and every piece of content you write provides a solution to that struggle. That's your message - and you want to get it out there because you are going to change someone's life with it. Your message will be in your articles, in your marketing ads, in your videos. The solutions you give to them because you truly want to help them and it your mission to help them achieve their goals. 10 steps to this, or 5 ways you can do that...the products you recommend they buy are merely tools to help them achieve the steps you've outlined in your awesome content. Truthfully, it doesn't matter if they don't buy because you've done your job by giving them the valuable tips.

You want to engage them through social media and truly develop relationships with them. You want to become their friend. That's why is takes awhile for the money to come in this business, because it takes time to develop relationships with each and every person that comes to your site. When you become their friend and they know like and trust you, they will reward you by buying what you recommend because they want to help you achieve your goals for helping them achieve theirs.

So concentrate first on making your site the ultimate solution for people who need help with their problems.Focus on getting great content to your site and then getting people to come see that great content through marketing. Once you get traffic coming to the site, and you build a following, then come back and ask that question about monetization. Because after all, what good is spending all your time monetizing if no one is coming to the site to begin with?

Is my site really set up as an affiliate? The whole reasonn I am asking is because the content I have added up until now was not meant to get people to buy anything but to inform them of ways to diet and build muscle quickly and safely.

Did you read my content or just guessing my intent from the question?

How does my current set up not allow for anymore content?
I find multiple keywords a day and I at least add 1-2 pages or posts on daily. So there is still a lot of potential content.

It's probably safe to say that this isn't active. Unless it is. Let me know!

Your website didn't work for me this morning. It just says website not available. I tried IE and Chrome and neither would pull it up. Did you ask for your site to be reinstalled.

This post is from 2013, so he might have taken it down by now.

oh, good point. oops.

I understand, its just a really simple process to add pictures and links so I know I am doing it correctly. My computer does have a problems sometimes with installing things, especially online.

Hey Ryan. Just a quick one. Even though you may have an old computer, it shouldn't make any difference as long as all your site stuff is stored in your hosting. If you are using siterubix all your images and files should be stored there. You shouldn't have any links that reference anything on your hard drive even if it works. Reason being is that if your link references something on your computer and your computer is switched off, then no one can access the link. It's hard to troubleshoot without actually being there but just wanted to add a bit more food for thought.

Your presumptions are correct but none of the links are outdated. I have bought a couple of my pictures and some are from wiki commons that are still up. All my pictures stay in my media section so its quick to replace them just annoying.

The link is exactly the problem I'm talking about it couldn't be a outdated link because its a link directly to my own website.

I agree with nathaniell below, that it has to do with the way wordpress installed on my computer. My computer is pretty old and buggy. I plan on switching to my laptop which is a lot newer, I think it will fix the problem.

I'll come back to this discussion if it is still happening after switching to my laptop. Its just in the mail until tomorrow....

Thanks everyone for the help!

Hi Ryan. I'm going to make a few presumptions here. (1) that you are talking about a Wordpress site and (2) that your images are stored in the media section of your Wordpress site.

One of the problems often encountered with pictures is that the link is outdated. If you are trying to link to a picture or image that does not reside on your site, then it's possible that the image has either been removed or renamed.

Be sure that the images are stored in the Media section of your site. Also, check that the links are correct.

I just checked out your site. On the homepage, in the very first paragraph, the link is not working. I click on it and got a 404 error. However, if I click on the menu to get to the page "How to get rid of fat" that is working fine. I could see all the images.

The only other idea I have is that it may have something to do with the way siterubix stores images. For that, you'd need to ask for Kyle, Rich or someone like that.

Hope you get it sorted. BTW, it's a nice looking site!

Alanna

Yeah some times the pictures just disappear my links too. I just constantly check if they are working and try and fix them immediately so that's probably why all of them worked But thanks for the tips I'll do both of those especially disabling the picture links those were a bit annoying.

Cool. Send me an update in a day or two. If you haven't solved this problem, I would definitely send in a support ticket, you can't have links disappearing on visitors!

Will do already disabled the picture links. Thanks for all the help Nathaniell

Which links are you talking about? I was able to see the pictures, but I also noticed that all pictures on your site are linked to an image. I do not recommend that because when someone clicks it, it just shows them a full size picture and has not benefit to your or the person. After you upload a picture to the page, click "link to none" on the upload image screen, or if you have an image that's already there you can just click the image once, then click the "break link" button in the editor.

If you describe your problem a bit more, I might be able to find an answer for you. Is it just that the images show up blank randomly? I have a site that does this, and I think it's because wordpress is installed incorrectly. If this is the case, I would send a support ticket to the tech team and ask if they can reinstall wordpress for you. I don't know if that will solve the problem, but it's worth a try. Personally, I haven't solved this problem for myself.

Thats very strange, I have never heard of this happening...maybe contact @Rich or Ivetriedthat

Once I have a gravatar account how long will it take until i can see my picture in comments on my and other peoples website?

Did it end up showing up for you yet?

No actually it hasn't it's been a month too

Awesome thanks man

Mine appeared as soon as I set up my gravatar.com account. Every email address that is associated with my gravatar has my profile pix. When I created another website, I saw my profile pix already there since the email address I used is in my gravatar account.

Okay great I'm sure it'll come up on my site, someone has a picture who commented. Just impatient I geuss thanks though!

I'm not really sure. They don't show up on all websites, but if you are comment on a blog with those little squares next to your name, it should eventually show up. I would give it a couple of days or a week, but that's a guess.
