Holiday Distractions. Don't Lose Momentum

I drove to Chicago from Minnesota for the holidays with my 15-year old daughter to celebrate the seasons with my siblings. Lo and behold, even before the driving, there are a lot more involved in preparation..packing, the gifts, shopping, cooking, then the actual driving, six hours, whew!

When we got there, a lot more driving for my daughter to bring her around and meet with the cousins, many of them and the uncles and aunts and guests...then some more shopping for the exchange gift called "white elephant".

Christmas eve dinner was at my brother's 5 bedroom house where we stayed for the week. So, we had to get the house ready, cook again and prepare the dinner table for about 30 people. We had the meal replicating a military way of having a meal in the jungle where all the soldiers eat together with their bare hands regardless of rank. It's called the Boodle Fight. Ask Google what it is. Here's our actual meal table.

Then the family fun time after the meal - the white elephant thing.

Some cousins stayed late to play table games and even stayed overnight because it was too late to go home at 3am. Not only that, some stayed 2 more additional nights to continue with the fun - table games.

In the middle of all these, I was trying to start an article for my justlovetosing.com website but the focus was all about the activities surrounding me, although I was trying my best to come up with a topic, I never finalized what it is.

Now, I'm back here in Minnesota after another 6 hour drive. I lost momentum for a week but I am back now and in full gear.

What an amazing holiday celebration. The break will be good for your 2019 focus.

Happy New Year!

Yeah, something we'll remember for a long time.

Happy New Year to you as well!

I believe it does you good to take a complete break, mentally and physically, for a few days, you come back feeling refreshed and with fresh ideas.
Happy new year, may you enjoy much success in 2019.
Steve.

Very well said. That's why I'm back at it again full force.

2019 will be interesting. I'm curious which direction it will bring to me personally and the WA opportunity.

Happy New Year to you too and I hope many of us will hang on here.

It's always lovely to get together with family and friends and just enjoy the time together. Even though you feel you have lost momentum, I think you need that time to recharge and get ready to get going again. Here's to your success in 2019!

I agree. Now I'm refreshed with full of anticipation for 2019. Cheers to success. 2019, we're coming.

That sounds like a good family get together!

It is hard but I got round it by doing a few hours here and there although I certainly wasn’t t involved in any large family get together this year.

Hard times comes every now and then, but refreshing comes by our choices. I'm glad we have the option to choose what's good and inspiration to other people.

Happy New Year!

Wow!! Sounds like you had a great time! I personally think that it's great to "switch off" for a few days... and then be back in full gear as you said. I'm sure you feel refreshed!

All the best to you and your loved ones for 2019!

Nathalie

Thanks Natalie. Yes, how did you know I feel refreshed? Just kidding. I really feel I'm in full gear now after that break. Mindset and lots of thinking from the 6-hour drive from Chicago made me come back here in full gear. It's not realistic, but I just hope it's like this all the time.

I did similar a few years ago in Chicago with my sister and others. Really good fun. I'm also just getting into gear again after a while away. Was feeling overwhelmed and also busy with other work, but now I want to continue.

impressive table!

Sounds like you had a lot of fun. It is good to break away from routine on occasions. I never heard of the Boodle fight meal idea. I would love to try it but not sure how some of the women in my family would like it... Thanks for the great post.

Yeah, too much fun and food. Oh my! Boodle fight originated from the Philippine military. It was fun and tedious to prepare. It was our first time to do it, just to try it out and that was a lot of fun. My daughter who is very picky in what she eats tried everything on the table and said she enjoyed all of it, including the seafood that she normally doesn't touch.

Thank you for sharing, Richard! What a title! Yes, momentum is very important! :o)

Thank you for your comment. Momentum can be difficult to get back to at times, and it shows on the WA rankings. We just need a total picture of WHY we're doing all this busyness. Mindset is also very important to get this thing going.

Richard

Yes, you are right Richard! My ultimate aim is to create a brand with niches I like and providing value to people. Thank you for advice too. Take care :o)

Yes, it takes a lot of thinking and imagination to get the value we're providing. The good thing is that the mind is capable, we just need to use it.

Take care and Happy New Year!

Yes and thank you for advice! 👌💪😀

That table of food looks amazing!!

Yes it is. I'm glad we tried this out for the first time and I think it will happen again.

Thanks for your reply
Richard

Glad you enjoyed with your family.

Good break!

Definitely is, thank you.
