How Well Do You Know The Company That You Promote Products For?

Sometimes, joining certain affiliate programs within our niche can be a challenge. Some respond and some don't. Even after they accept you as an affiliate and you have a question, it can be like pulling teeth for them to respond. Others respond quickly. I think if you are promoting a company's product line, they should offer their support.

One of the company's that I joined really goes out of their way to support me with ideas in advertising their products. The other company's who's products I promote don't. Does this make a difference? Yes, it does because I have had 2 affiliate sales with the one that reached out with their ideas and will continue to support them as well. It's a win, win for us both.

I think more merchants should do this as it could ultimately lead to more sales for them. I guess the old saying applies...what you put out there is what you get back. Do the company's you work with support you with ideas for selling their product(s)? I don't think this is discussed enough here but I believe it's a good idea to not just promote a product but know who you're working with and if they're a reputable company to do business with.

You also want to make sure that you get your commissions. I have had an issue with one company getting back to me about a commission and don't like jumping through hoops to try to get my questions answered. We put a lot of work in to our websites with content, keyword research, ranking, and SEO. We need to put just as much effort in researching the merchants whose products we are promoting. My take on it anyways. Have a great day everyone! :)

Cheers,

Renee

Totally agree. I had a lovely email from a Warriorplus vendor after he gave me the green light to promote his product (I have never had that happen before!). He offered any help and assistance I needed.
Result? I am now promoting his product above others that I have promoted previously.
It definitely does make a difference.
One of my big peeves with many affiliate programs is that even in this day and age they do not have the facility to inform you when you make a sale! It is up to you to find out!
Grinds my gears! Rant over!!!!!

Yes, that’s exactly right and if the lady that purchased the product hadn’t told me she did, I wouldn’t of even known or followed up. It’s just not good business practice for a company and if you’re promoting their products, you should have their support and a timely response that a sale occurred. Grinds my gears too. 😬

It makes a HUGE difference when a company is involved in their affiliate program and working with affiliates. The unfortunate part is that to this day many companies still don't comprehend this, and as a result they are losing the lion share of the marketplace.

Those that focus on their affiliate programs and invest in affiliates are eating the lunch of those that are not. One such and obvious example is Amazon. They have invested a great deal of time, energy and resources into affiliates. The result. They achieved 50% of all sales over this past years holiday shopping only. Of ALL sales.

If other companies want to fall the same way the likes Sear's has, then they should keep doing what they are doing. For those that want to see online momentum and growth, affiliates are at the core of this.

I agree Kyle. I just called the one company that I was having issues with on my commission and the owner called me back personally within minutes. I think he was still learning how things work on Shareasale as they are new to the program. (Or at least that’s what he lead me to believe)

There’s a trust factor there but he was very nice and we got it ironed out. He thanked me for bringing it to his attention but it took me calling him directly to get a response. Thanks for sharing that info. :)
