It's That Time Again
This happens once a year here in Trinidad. Witnessing it for the first time you may be led to conclude that this is all that the citizens live for.
But I dare say that even though it's that time again, most of the country does now participate in the revelry that is carnival. I however, am one that anticipate this time of year. One of our calypsonians sang some years ago; "doh ask meh to wok for carnival".
I share his sentiments but for different reasons. While he longed for the freedom from work so that he could fete freely, I embrace it so that I can go to camp and be away from all the bacchanal. It's the same each year. They revel and I go camping - with my brethren.
We leave on Friday, for five days away from home and all the amenities - somewhat. There are those who find it hard to give up everything modern. So some would be camping out in a building, but me, I have my tent.
That means that for some days I will be away from all you lovely people here at WA. Though I would be absent from you, by God's grace I will be enjoying myself while I pass on valuable experience to the younger generation.
O yeah, it"s not just about being our in nature but also about nurturing the younger ones so that they will grow up with a healthy love and respect for the outdoors.
So besides daily worship and discussion of important spiritual and social issues, we'll be taking them on hikes and teaching them to socialize.
The good thing is that while imparting knowledge and experience, you gain more. So I am really looking forward to Friday and all that comes with it.
I will let you guys know how it went when I get back, promise.
Till then, keep working on what you are and get better at it.
It's that time again. Blessings!!
