I am doing some site maintenance and realized that my short links to Amazon like 'amzn.to/xyz' getting a timed out. I hope it's Amazon. Is anybody experiencing the same? Thanks

I tried it again after a couple of hours and now it's working. I assume it was an Amazon glitsch. Thanks for checking.

Problem with amazon shortlinks - amzn.to is timing out?

If I re-design an old antiquated website, old html code, not mobile, old menus, etc, using Wordpress and my newly gained SEO knowledge but keeping the content, will the ranking

It very well could because you probably won't be able to keep the old url structure. You'll want to make sure that you have all of the proper 301 redirects in place ...

Great point! Thanks Chris

I am looking at Search Console - Structured data and see ERRORS in the right column for pages like 'Contact', About Me'. It shows:

missing: author

missing: entry-ti

Thanks Shawn. I read quickly through it and need to go to the php files and make changes. Have to be careful!

When working in Wordpress to develop a page, will looking or testing the page be reflected as a visit in Google Analytics?

Hello,

It depends how you set Google analytics...
I have a filter in Google analytics that keeps all my personal traffic to my site away from the analytics report to have the best possible view on the real numbers...

I would recommend to do this also, but normally Google Analytics suggest this to do and you can find guidance in Analytics...

If needed just ask, of course...

Grtz,
Bert

THANKS FOR THE REPLY. i'LL CHECK INTO THAT FILTER

As I am planning to move my current website(s) from a different hosting company to WA, there is a way of bringing the site's database over by using Backup on the old hosting si

There is no cPanel at WA so you don't have access to phpmyadmin. There are no outbound connections permitted because of potential security issues so some plugins don't work. You can only backup your website manually because you can't run cron jobs...

Marion, thanks for your reply and information.

I don't think they have it here. The only thing WA provide is front end setting through wordpress CMS. Their backend can only be accessed by SiteRubix support team.

Thanks for your reply. Let's see if I get some more input on this.

Your welcome, btw just for information. If you are the type that understand quite well already about a website's backend and frontend, I suggest you keep your hosting outside WA. Just come here to learn, because there are too many limitations for a website owner in WA hosting and also there are too many downtime

That's an interesting observation. Can you name a limitation?

The biggest limitation I faced in siterubix hosting is what marion mentioned (above comment), siterubix doesn't install cPanel.
And if you understand cPanel, then you would understand how crazy the features that we have lost without it. (there are tons of things can be done when you have cPanel)

Other thing for example is you aren't allowed to freely install third party plugin in your website including theme.

Hansen, if that is the case, I agree with you assessment that hosting outside may be better if one wants to work with more than the frontend. Like some free themes, (not all) have their company name in the footer. Sometimes it’s a setting in the frontend to remove the company name that developed the theme, but in some cases it can only be removed in the index.php file. So I am not sure if editing of php files is possible in WA. One certainly needs to have access to plugins to get the most out of WP. I still think that WA hosting is a great feature that comes with Premium, and one could use it for testing or quick website development.
Thanks for your input on this. I read many of your great blogs, lots of details.

I know this post is a little old, but I believe you can access your db via a plugin such as https://wordpress.org/plugins/adminer/

Just for future reference. :)

thanks for that Chris, I'm currently trying to transfer my site to another host outside WA and having some issues because they need access to cPanel or phpmyadmin to properly transfer my site and I'm just sitting here like 'uhhh I don't even know if -I- have access to that'

You're welcome Matthew and I hope it works for you.

Depending on what I need to do, some sites I can host here and some I can't.

I'll have to try it later this evening and see how it works out. I put in a support ticket about it and they just told me where to find the database backup for my site I can access via the FTP, waiting to hear back from the new host if they can just sue that to transfer my site over. Haven't really utilized any of the training and other stuff here at WA in awhile so just wanted to find someplace cheaper to host my site and have a little more control over it on the backend.
