Social Media presence should be a part of your long term strategy for building your brand and your business. If you are not on any social media platform at the moment, you should start planning how you are going to use the social media scene. If you are trying to "wing it" at the moment, STOP!, because you will spin, crash and burn in one way or another.
If you have a plan and consistent presence on social media, do you follow an Authentic Social Media Strategy or Are You Hiding?

Who Do You Want To be Recognized As and How Do you want To be Known As?

This morning I started listening to Jenna Kutcher´s first podcast episode ever. It was great and the topic was authentic social media strategy. It struck a tone in me, of who I am myself. I want to be viewed as an authentic and honest person behind what I write and do on any of the social media platforms I regularly engage in. But, in a way it feels a little difficult, trying to market yourself as a product and a service to other, and at the same time be a genuine person. I think that I am not alone in thinking like this.

Central Elements To Keep In Mind

I think the most important part of having a good presence and giving a good impression on any platform is to not do selling, selling, selling, selling. It is not wise to push stuff into the face of other people the whole time. You have to share a part of your self and who you are. Share real life events and invite people into a part of your life. This will create a trustful relationship with your followers.
A strategy could be for every 5 or 10 posts on your social media platforms, you can do a promotion of something you feel great about, a product or service.

While surfing the Net, If I see, either on a website, on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest or other platforms, a person trying to sell you something in every post, I skip it! I don´t look closer into it. But my interest is easily triggered if I read something that provides real value to me as a person. Then I go into explorer mode and start to check out further what this person is trying to tell me.

Entrepreneur Mode Engaged!

If I am in my entrepreneur mode exploring new ways to develop my business and company, I am normally OK with a little of selling from other content creators and sources I seek out my self. But this is something completely different from getting stuff you don´t want pushed into your face (excuse my language) the whole time.

Said in other words, be aware of which audience you are trying to engage and as such that you have identified the correct group of people related to your niche.

Some Final Words

Take some time to identify what you would be comfortable to share with your audience, both on your website and on the social media platforms you use. Let them have a peek into your life to learn who you are and what you care about. Create a plan on the ratio of personal vs business posts, and be consistent.

A great example on how to do this is Cassi. Look at her profile, blog posts here at Wealthy Affiliate as well as her websites and social media and you will see what I mean.

Like Kyle and Carson teaches us in the training Wealthy Affiliate offers, create a safe and comfortable relation with your audience. By having focus on not being a sales person while we are as sales person ( because that is what we are as affiliate marketers), you will get recurring followers to your brand as a result.
