Did You Know This About Pinterest?
Here is a short fact about Pinterest. Do you know what Pinterest is? I will bet you that most of you will call it a social media. I have made this mistake until recently, but have had my eyes opened, both by Pinterest and Tailwind.
Pinterest is not a social media.
What is Pinterest?
Pinterest can be daunting to those of us that are newbies in digital marketing. We get some information at the beginning of our journey, but don't really understand what the purpose of this platform is.
Is the platform a social media platform, is it a search engine or a newsfeed? What is Pinterest's intention? It can be said with two words:
CREATIVITY and KNOWLEDGE
Pinterest's Description of Themselves
In Pinterest's own words, they say that the platform is about "personal media and not social media". It is a media in the intersection between personal a discovery.
What does this mean? It means that Pinterest is a media you turn to, when you want to discover and learn how to a thing, to better themselves.
It is not a media that tell people about "what I did", like taking a selfie in front of a famous building when on holiday. There are other media on the Internet that is intended for selfies.
Summary
People come to Pinterest for new ideas and inspiration. As such, Pinterest is a search engine for the discovery of your own personal development.
If you bear this in mind when you create pins for Pinterest, you will have come a long way to get attention to your pins, and create pins i "the best practise" way.

Pinterest is the Idea Mall. I like to "shop" there for interesting or more skillful ways of doing things. Or simply to enjoy the great implementation of an idea that I'm not able to do so well myself.
Thanks Roysin for asking that question and aren't we glad Pinterest is around. I'm an acrylic artist when I get the pleasure to do a painting, but it takes some space, etc. Pinterest has the feeling of common ground between me, you and others, including those we are trying to get to relate to us.
That was fun.

Like your blog.
The statement that captured my attention was:
People come to Pinterest for new ideas and inspiration. As such, Pinterest is a search engine for the discovery of your own personal development.
That is something to think about when making the image.
Nice.
Do you use Pinterest a lot?
I have been using it a bit, but have had a fight with Pinterest the last month as they banned one of my Pinterest accounts and the related niche website from Pinterest, accusing my website to be a site producing Spam. The website is about my own dog and dogs in general.
I have continuously requested an explanation form Pinterest on what content on the website is considered as Spam, but haven´t received any clear answers from them yet. I haven´t given up on them yet in relation to the banning, but it is not my priority at the moment.
I am using Pinterest with two other niche websites., and are going in deep into Pinterest to learn it thoroughly. I have established a social media strategy plan which includes Pinterest and Instagram, and intend to follow it for the next 12 month.
Roy
Very good, Roy, thanks. If this is indeed the intention and purpose of Pinterest, it's certainly good to know!
