Two Monitors Are Very Useful!

I have just purchased a Dell Precision desktop with two monitors, this is something that I had been planning to do for the last couple of years but it didn't actually happen! I managed to find a Dell Precision workstation on the Dell outlet site at a sensible price. Originally, I was going to purchase a Dell XPS desktop but the Precision desktop came out at a better price and a much better specification.

I had never used two monitors, however, it is something that I always thought would be a good idea.

The two monitors have definitely helped me speed up things, it is extremely useful to have a document in one screen and a webpage in the other, it's also perfect for writing and carrying out research. I may even add a third screen at a later date as two screens seem to be proving so useful!

Just one thing before you purchase a new laptop or desktop, make sure you buy a machine with plenty of power and a decent spec. I appreciate that money can often be an issue, but a decent spec definitely speeds up the work rate.

The first two or three PCs and laptop that I owned were far too underpowered, (partly because I didn't know what I was buying) admittedly I was using Windows XP, which wasn't brilliant. However, my last laptop or my present laptop and this Precision desktop definitely make life much easier and my work rate has increased dramatically.

Time is valuable, choose a decent BC and you will save loads of time.

Thank you for reading.

This is exactly how I work as well Roy..it's a must! As I have one web page open on my laptop, I'll also have my tablet showing an affiliate dashboard while having my email or Google open on my smart phone. I just recently bought a laptop and tablet and its been a lifesaver. Trying to do everything on a phone was really time consuming and quite frustrating as often times I'd hit a button closing a tab and losing hours worth of work. Great advice to all especially for those of us who often get distracted when something else catches our eye and abandon the original task costing us the most valuable resource, TIME.

Good morning Sandra,

I hope you're doing well. Thanks for taking the time to comment on my blog post, it's appreciated.

I'm glad that you have purchased a laptop and tablet, I'm sure it really is a lifesaver, as you mention. Maybe you could purchase an external monitor for your laptop, I'm guessing most laptops can cope with an extra monitor.

I can't think of anything much worse than trying to run an online business on a mobile phone. You may find my latest blog post interesting. Time is an amazing thing, I know that when I was using my old Windows XP desktop and laptop, pages would hang and the systems would just generally act up! I remember seeing posts on Facebook and Twitter of people wanting to throw their computer out the window as their system was acting up! Thankfully those days have passed with Windows 7 and Windows 10 and computers are generally more powerful and efficient.

I cannot overemphasise the importance of having efficient machinery and devices, it's almost the difference between profit and loss. I would much sooner pay more money and have a system that works efficiently.

Have a great day.

Roy

I had 2 monitors a few years ago when I worked in management from home teaching and coordinating teams for a company. Those were some of my most productive and fun years.
I am considering this now, yet need to upgrade my iMac first. No longer a PC guy for many reasons, yet the Dell you have gotten is very good and will work very well. Congrats!
Thanks for sharing Roy.

Hello Bill,

I hope you are doing well. Thanks for taking the time to pass by and comment, it's appreciated.

It sounds like you appreciate the benefits of two screens, I am one who likes to keep things as simple and as smooth running as possible.

I have never used an Apple Computer, I know many people prefer Apple to Microsoft. I did think about changing to Apple when I had Windows XP, which was pretty awful. However, since using Windows 7 now Windows 10 I have had very few problems, it seems to run pretty smoothly.

I can remember the old days of Windows XP where I'd have to reboot two or three times a day, I'm thankful those days have gone! PCs could be absolutely infuriating in those days!

I had a friend who had an iMac and he reckoned it was absolutely excellent. I do hope you can get your new setup soon Bill.

Have a great day.

Roy

Thanks Roy. budget calls for a few other items right now like painting, carpet and some other things long overdue concerning house repairs etc. Soon though I will, yet meanwhile this iMac keeps trucking along.
Have a blessed week.
Bill

I understand William, I know exactly what you're saying. I was actually researching what I wanted, computer-wise, for 2 to 3 years. I actually enjoyed carrying out the research and eventually getting the product. I believe we probably appreciate things more in this way. I do hope that your iMac comes sooner rather than later though.

Have a great day.

That's a really good idea. My husband works at home with 2 screens computer and a laptop.

I do the same thing (use 2 screens) but I only need 1 laptop.
My husband shows me how to share screen of my laptop to a TV so I can watch a training video on the TV while I work on my website or engage the community at WA dashboard. It's very neat indeed.
Yesterday I could watch Jay's webinar on TV and wrote drafts for my next content at the same time using just 1 laptop.

Good morning Ferra,

I hope you're doing well, thank you take the time to comment, it's appreciated.

That's a very useful feature Ferra, it's amazing what modern technology allows us to do! I might do the same, sit down in the lounge and watch one of Jay's webinars. It sounds like you are multitasking, I'm not always too good at that! However, I do listen to the webinars when I am working on my off-line business, I can't see the screen, but I can listen!

Have a great day.

Roy

Good morning to you Roy,

How was your weekend? It is still Sunday night for me here in Arizona. It is almost 11 pm lol...

I think it is great that you can still listen to Jay's webinars while working on your offline business.

Yes, I like to try doing at least two things at a time if it's possible. Sometimes I have a hard time focusing on one thing if I think about another task that is somewhat a priority as well.

I learn about computer stuff from my husband. He is an automation engineer for Intel Corp. Due to work from home order, he works with 2 screens computers and a laptop. Usually, at work, he works with 3 screens and a laptop. I am amazed at how he can multitask with multiple screens like that.

Enjoy your day and have a great week!

Hey there Roy,

Two monitors have always been a dream of mine. I just never have the money to do it. I guess that is the first thing I need to do when my websites start producing income for me.

At the moment I use a laptop for most of my research... of course, I have multiple tabs open and that really slows things down.

On rare occasions, I will research on my phone and type with my laptop when adding content to my website. My eyes start to see blurry if I spend too much time on the phone though.

One day it'll happen for me. Thanks for this post... you've inspired me to get my but in gear... 👍😊

I wish you the best!
Bob

Good morning Bob,

I hope you're doing well, thank you for taking the time to comment.

It's always good to have dreams, it's taken me 2 to 3 years to finally purchase the desktop and screens that I wanted!

It's amazing how quickly multiple tabs build-up, I regularly have 25 tabs open and sometimes more. However, having two screens definitely makes life easier. I also use a Google Chrome extension called "quick tabs", it's very useful for naming various popular tabs and finding previous tabs. I have been using this extension for about a year now, it definitely reduces the number of tabs that I have open.

Using your phone the research and laptop sounds slightly painful, although, you have to do what works best for you. I try and avoid using a smartphone as much as possible, I just find smartphones so fiddly!

I do hope you are able to upgrade soon. When you do upgrade, and I know this is easier said than done. Try and buy a laptop or desktop with a reasonable spec, this also saves loads of time. The last couple of machines that I have purchased have both had good specs, to me it's worth every penny as it keeps your workflow moving quickly.

Wishing you all the best.

Roy

That's awesome! I use two monitors at work and can't function without them. So, I bought another monitor for home use a little over a year ago myself! It's great, isn't it? And it really helps when writing posts and articles so I have my research pages open on one screen and writing on the other. :) Way to go! Hope things are going well.

Paula

Good morning Paula,

Thank you take the time to read my blog post and comment, it's appreciated.

I hear you big time, especially regarding writing posts and carrying out research, it's so much easier to have two screens open. I am thinking about a third screen, possibly!

Have a great day.

Roy
