Ranking 64 From 281 In 48 Hours, But.

A couple of days ago I wrote a blog post saying that I was in the top 200! In 48 hours I have climbed from ranking at 281 to 64! It's amazing how quickly we can climb up the ranking scale here at Wealthy Affiliate, just from writing a few blog posts and commenting.

But..... My guess is that I probably have spent around eight hours responding to comments and various blog posts. I actually thoroughly enjoy doing this, it's always good to meet U members and to encourage each other in our online walk.

My question is or my point at this time is that I could have been spent the time adding content to my website or making YouTube videos! Sometimes, it is really hard to get the balance right at times.

How much time do you spend on this great platform and how much time you spend on your online business?

I normally work six days a week working my off-line and online business, this time of year is busy for me. I was privileged to have two days off in a row which is really great and helps the body recuperate.

To be fair, I have really enjoyed the last couple of days commenting and writing a few blog posts, but now it's time to get on with some real work. Although I could have been writing on my own website, I think the rest has done me good and it's always encouraging and heartwarming to hear other people's success stories, here at Wealthy Affiliate.

What are your thoughts, please?

Have a great day and thank you for reading.

Roy

Hi Roy for me its about balance.

I get a charge out of helping folks with the stuff I know about and I learn every day on here about the stuff that I don’t.

Alongside this I am driven to continue building my 3 websites with quality content in volume.

my sites are simple and clean because I don’t chase shiny things and I just follow the training here and let the content do the work.

I have managed to write 85 posts in 120 days with 70 of them indexed and ranking so far and even some page one position 1 stuff on Google and Bing so I am happy that the balance is working for me.

When I detect that it is not I will adjust towards business activity.

It is of course different for everyone I am a writer of some experience and I don’t worry about putting bread on the table.

Others have different pressures and imperatives.

This is good thought provoking post and we should all take stock of where we are from time to time.

Thanks for sharing🧐

Hello Hamish,

Thank you for taking the time to comment, it's appreciated.

What an excellent answer, seriously, I really like what you have said.

I agree with you, it's really nice to help others and encourage each other along the way.

Three websites as a lot of websites to maintain, however, I believe you have experience in IT etc, which is great? The fact that you don't like running after shiny objects is a great bonus. When I first started researching Internet marketing back in 2004 I was running after all sorts of scam products! Not deliberately, I was just eager to learn and make money online! The problem I had was that I didn't know these products were real and honest! If only I had known about Wealthy Affiliate back then, it would literally save me thousands of pounds!

85 posts in 120 days and to be as active as you are on Wealthy Affiliate is absolutely amazing, exceptionally good going! I don't know how long it takes you to write a thousand-word blog post? I normally think around just over the hour mark, depending on what I am writing.

Keep up the good work Hamish, it sounds like you're doing great, which is fantastic news.

Wishing you all the best.

Roy

It would be great to meet you over a good glass of Brandy or a single malt I sense a kindred spirit🧐

Good morning Hamish,

My apologies for the late reply, it's been a busy week!

That sounds like a great idea, I hear you big time! Something tells me, Hamish, that you are in Australia? I just read your profile again and I noticed that you have lived in 10 different countries, which is quite amazing!

I'm actually in the UK, in a very beautiful part of East Anglia. I have always thought it could be a great idea to be able to spend time in Australia or New Zealand in the middle of the British winter! It hasn't happened yet, but it could do!

Even meeting up over a fine pint of English ale sounds like a great idea!

Wishing you a great weekend.

Roy

Been in New Zealand for 15 years sir🧐

Good morning Hamish,

I hope you're doing well. How nice, I have relations and several friends in New Zealand. Many people have told me that I need to visit as it is such a beautiful country. Being a lover of the British countryside, I'm sure I would appreciate it!

Enjoy your Sunday.

Roy

You would indeed it is a whole world in miniature and you have to see it to understand that🧐

It sounds fantastic Hamish!

👍🏼🧐

Yeah Roy, think it's the general feeling here.

Being active within the community is always a pleasure. In addition to moving up in rank, it's quite interesting helping out and "socializing".

But the time comes when you realize that there's work waiting to be done - as you just did. And then, you have to leave.

But that's just for a while. Before long, you're back here, involved as earlier on. What an interesting virtuous circle.

Hello TR,

Thanks for taking the time to comment it's appreciated.

Very wise words, I hear you big time TR. It's very true it's an interesting virtuous circle.

Have a great day.

Roy

Thanks, Roy. And the same to you.

When I fist joined, I was spending about 8 to 10 hours a day here bouncing between training, website building, researching writing articles from my site and commenting/writing blogs. I found that quite quickly I hit the top 200 and was at one point 106. Now, I'm spending less time than before. I've organized my time and am now a little more efficient. Currently I'm active active within the community for a couple of hours, site and content for a couple of hours and researching as the need arises. My goals haven't changed all that much, but my thinking and the way I go about things has.

Greg

Hello Greg,

Thank you for commenting. 8 to 10 hours per day, now that is a lot of time, I don't think of the majority of us have that much time! If you are spending 8 to 10 hours day I would expect you to rank pretty high, to be fair.

I think whenever we join a new platform it's good to spend time and to get to know the people and familiarise ourselves with functionality. It's also important that we spend enough time building our business though.

It sounds like you're getting the balance right now though Greg, which is good.

Wishing you every success.

Roy

Yes, I know what you mean about trying to get the balance.

I like writing content AND being on the platform commenting and chatting and reading.

I've started setting my mobile alarm. I set it to go off after a short time when I'm on the platform. 20-30 mins here and there.

I limit my WA platform time otherwise I could be on here for ever, LOL! 😀

And my content writing is important.

Louise

Hello Louise,

Now that's a very wise idea, setting a timer! It's very easy to get carried away on this platform and to keep reading and commenting. However, it's more important to work on our own businesses.

Have a great Sunday.

Roy
