My Gettr Experience One Month On
Just over a month ago, I joined the social media platform "Gettr", I thought I would publish another blog post with a few thoughts about my experience.
In case you don't know what Gettr is; Gettr is a social media platform that is almost identical to Twitter. Gettr first went live in July 2021. In the early days, Gettr had a terrific amount of Americans on the platform, however, this is changing quite rapidly as more and more people see the benefits of Gettr across the world.

The reason the majority of people have changed to Gettr from Twitter is due to the fact they are fed up with Twitter's policies. Tweets, retweets, followers are often removed without any explanation if it doesn't suit the Twitter narrative! I know of Twitter users who have lost 50,000 followers overnight for no reason, something is wrong somewhere!
So back in early January, I joined Gettr with zero followers. I now have 648 followers and I am following 550 members. I have gained far more followers in a shorter time than I would have with Twitter. I appreciate that Gettr is new, so people are eager to follow new members.
I like the idea of being able to get into conversation with members and not receive a ban or have retweets undone or tweets removed. To me, a social media platform should be a place where we can have conversations, we may not always agree, but that's half the fun and how we get our point across.
Can Gettr Be Used To Market Your Business?
I would say at the moment, Gettr is more about receiving genuine news that isn't published on the mainstream media. However, I believe that Gettr will grow hugely due to the platform being genuine and allowing free speech. I have a pinned post about Wealthy Affiliate, already five people have commented on that post. That's more people that commented on the same pinned Tweet that I had on Twitter for four years!
I seriously believe that as time goes on Gettr will gain more and more traction which will be beneficial for our business needs! With Facebook and Twitter shares dropping dramatically, people are getting fed up with pages being closed, followers being removed just because it doesn't suit the narrative!
How about giving Gettr a try?

Hi Roy! Thanks for sharing your experience about GETTR. I totally agree with you, Twitter has gone completely off the rails! I never posted anything controversial or even remotely political, yet they nuked my business account simply because I was looking at certain news stories and commenters, which I did not even like their posts or even comment on them. At least I think that's why, they deleted my account with no explanation!
I created another Twitter account for my business but also started a Gab.com account as well. GETTR seems interesting but I already have my hands so full with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and now Gab! Plus people keep telling me to get on YouTube. I can barely keep up with everything!

Twitter and Facebook amaze me in the way that they behave and they seem to have got away with it, until now! Although I still use Twitter for business,, I am very much limiting my personal use with Facebook and Twitter.
I think there have been many people who have been in similar situations as yourself. I think if we can, it's good to move to other platforms with better values.
I hear you with social media, I think most of us have just got to choose one or two platforms and go with it, otherwise, it's just too much. Always remember that your website has to be your primary focus, not social media.
I did create a Gab account but then I heard about Gettr, so that is what I am focusing on! Many old Twitter friends have moved to Gettr. It may not be the best place to promote your business right now. However, I believe as time goes on more and more people will start using Gettr and good things will happen.

That's interesting Stephen, I hadn't heard of MeWe, would you say that is the equivalent of Facebook? I heard that there was a competitor to Facebook coming out?
I am not against large companies, I'm just against them when they do not allow free speech. Social media should be a place where we can discuss things openly. We may not always agree with everyone, but we should be able to discuss without being shut down.

MeWe is a free speech platform and a lot of people are leaving Facebook and joining MeWe. Have a look at my profile and you will see my link to MeWe. But still doing a lot on Facebook as well.

Roy, That sounds very interesting and I will take a look at it.
That is one of the drawbacks of using other people's platforms as they all control what is published and what isn't to a point - and as you point out certain ones are not even-handed about it at all.
We do need more choices and competition - and that should help quite a lot.

It's a sad fact that many social media platforms seem to have become political. We all have our own views and it's personal who we vote for and what we believe in or who we believe in. The great thing about social media is that it enables us to discuss and also to promote our brand. However, it appears that many of the big social media platforms are banning us if it doesn't suit the narrative!
Only today I was hearing about someone who had 45 million views on his YouTube channel and is actually coming off YouTube. He is now going to start using his own platform so that he can get his point across! He has actually been temporarily banned several times from YouTube.
My Webmaster told me years ago to focus on my website rather than other social media platforms. That's not to say that we can't use them, it's just where our primary focus should be.
I am almost approaching two months at Gettr now. The first month I was more active as I had more time, however, as work gets busier, I will have less time for the platform. To date, I have 780 followers, I know that this doesn't mean a lot. But I do know that it would have taken a lot longer to gain that many followers on Twitter.
I believe that Gettr is growing considerably as people become fed up with various social media platform's narratives! I also believe that in the future it could become a good social media business platform.
I'm definitely with you, LD, we need more choices, regarding social media, where we can have good conversation.

I agree Roy - and I personally didn't care what people believe as I am a big advocate of the right to make Choices and FREEDOM (Hence my Pirate flag logo ; )
So anyone or anything that tries to tell me what I can say or think is my enemy. Period.
