If You Are Using Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional

If you are using Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional you may have discovered that the Google Chrome web extension is no longer available at the present time. Apparently, it is being updated, I have no idea why Nuance took the extension down before replacing it with a newer version!

I recently purchased a new desktop, so I wanted to install it on my new computer. When I went to the link to install Dragon NaturallySpeaking chrome extension, I received a 404 message. When I contacted Dragon Support, they had no idea that there was an issue, which to me is rather surprising!

However, after asking the question on the Know Brainer forum I discovered that several people are having issues with the extension.

The good news is that you can use the Dragon medical web extension, which is what I am doing and it seems to be working absolutely fine. Apparently, this didn't used to be the case, maybe Nuance are going to have one extension for all their speech software.

As you probably know, without the extension, it makes it difficult to type into webpages directly. I know you can use the Dragon pad or Dragon box to type into, however, this is much more time-consuming.

Has anyone else had the same issue? I wouldn't have known about the issue, had I not have been installing Dragon NaturallySpeaking onto a new computer.

Thank you for reading.

I’m doing fairly well thanks, Roy.

That's good Jane. There's only one way and that is to keep moving forward!

Have a great day.

Roy

Thank you for the info,
even if I don't have used it yet
is always good to know

have a good week

Good morning Pedrone,

I hope you're doing well. I don't know how quickly you can type, I'm not particularly quick, so for me, Dragon NaturallySpeaking is a great help. It's not perfect, however, it's much better than it was a few years ago and it's far quicker than me typing!

Have a great day.

Roy

Thank you for reminding me again
how useful really is Dragon!

have a great day!

I'm not using it but I did check into it. It's out of my. Price range.

Hello Michael,

Thank you, take the time to read my blog post, it's appreciated.

I appreciate that Dragon isn't cheap, I think I paid the full price for my original version and then just upgraded to the latest version each time. I think I have used five different versions, starting with version 7 and I'm now using version 15, which is the best by far.

I appreciate that it's not cheap, however, for me, it saves me loads of time. If I was you, I would definitely think about Dragon for the future.

Wishing you a great day.

Roy

I'm not having any problems using Dragon directly into Chrome. The version I'm using is Dragon professional individual V15.30.000.006. And the extension is Version 15.2.0.17. I'm on a WIndows 10 laptop.

Hello Marion,

I hope you are doing well and that business is good. Thank you for taking the time to comment, it's appreciated.

I wouldn't have known anything was wrong, it was the fact that I was installing Dragon NaturallySpeaking 15 on a new PC. When I went to add the add-on, I received the 404 error message.

If you are installing on a new computer, I am guessing that you would have the same issue as I have. Having said this it is great that the medical extension seems to be working for me as an alternative.

Have a great day.

Roy

I haven't actually tried it Roy. Jim

Hello Jim,

I hope you're doing well. Thank you for reading my blog post.

I have to say that I do find Dragon extremely useful as I can't type that quickly! It's not 100% accurate, however, it's far quicker than me typing!

Have a great Sunday.

Roy

Thank you for sharing your experience using the dragon naturally speaking. I never thought of using my voice with my laptop as i type fast enough. I use my voice when I answer my email on my phone as it is very handy. It gets annoying when the system corrects a word it doesn’t recognize. I think using your voice to type on the computer is a very good idea as you are doing a great favor to your hands. Thanks for bringing this subject up. Something for me to consider in near future. Will motivate me to produce more articles. Dragon speech recognition is used by most doctors for patients electronic health record.

Good morning Evelyn,

Thank you for reading and responding to my post, it's appreciated.

If you can type quickly, I think that can save a lot of frustration, I have often wondered how much quicker Dragon would be if I could type quickly. It is quick, however, it does make mistakes, though, it is improving all the time.

The most important things is to have a decent PC that can power Dragon to work efficiently.

I hear you regarding saving your fingers, I guess after several years of typing, things can happen. Dragon NaturallySpeaking stopped any issues like that.

Wishing you a great day.

Roy

Thanks Roy
