I Am in 121 Facebook Groups, How Can We Be In So Many Groups!

I have recently joined Grace's (LittleMama) Facebook group, it's a great group to be connected with, Grace has been highly successful on Wealthy Affiliate and worked very hard, you can see her profile below. Grace's Facebook group inspired me to write my blog post below.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/littlemama

I thought I would just take a look see how many Facebook groups I am connected with, in total it is 121 different groups! Many of these groups I haven't a clue what they are about as I believe you can add people to your Facebook group without them knowing, which to be fair I don't think is the best idea in the world. I believe that I need a massive cull of these various Facebook groups.

I don't actually know how people have time to be on numerous social media platforms and in various groups on Facebook etc, I would be interested to know how you manage all your Facebook groups and are you active in all of them.

I actually find extremely time-consuming replying to messages, participating in groups, I often wonder how necessary it really is in fact I have to say that I don't really hardly participate in any Facebook groups. I start off very enthusiastically thinking like this looks like a great group to be part off, but then I realise we have that famous problem that has been around since Adam and Eve, Time!

I actually think to be successful all we actually need to do is follow the Wealthy Affiliate training and take action on a daily basis, I'm guessing that all the highly successful people here are probably not participating in lots of Facebook groups!

A few months ago I saw people talking about a new platform called Web Talk, I thought this sounds good, so I created an account and basically that is as far as its gone, it's just impossible to participate in every social media platform

I would be interested to know if you are connected with lots of various Facebook groups and social media platforms and does it really work for you. It's great to have Facebook likes on a business page, but how much real traffic does actually bring to our website, I'm not criticising social media at all, I just feel like the main thing we have to do is to focus on building our websites and adding content.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Thank you for reading.

I think Facebook is a huge distraction more than anything else. I agree with you for most part it's just a time waster. Some people have had some success getting leads, but I think it's better to focus on the WA training at first and then branch out to sites like Pinterest. Pinterest is very good for traffic and leads.

Hello Wendy,

I hear you, Wendy, all these social media platforms kind of have their uses, but I also believe that Facebook can be a huge distraction and we can quickly lose time. I appreciate that it works for some people, but even managing a Facebook page can be so time-consuming. I definitely agree it's better to focus on me Wealthy Affiliate training and then branch out, it seems like Pinterest is getting very popular with people, it's something that I'm not using hugely at the moment but I am actually starting to use Pinterest more now.

Enjoy your day and thank you for commenting.

Google will look at the groups you are in and do two things:
1. Offer you more groups like that
2. Decide that you are the type of person who likes that group, and thus offer that group to others like you.

If a group isn't a fit for you, leave it. Google doesn't care about raw numbers, they care about profiles. If your profile doesn't fit, you are actually hurting that group.

Hello Jeannine,

Thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog post, I do appreciate it.

Interesting facts, it looks like I have a lot of groups to leave, in fact I must do this as most of the group's, have added me without me knowing.

Have a great day.

Roy

They've hurt themselves without knowing it! Yes, leave, they don't deserve to have you as a member.

Hey Roy,
Personally I don't use Facebook because of all the backbiting and hacking that seems to be going on. I choose not to a part of all that nonsense. I will focus on my websites and promote elsewhere.

Tried and True

Elaine

Hello Elaine,

I hope you're doing well. Thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog post.

I like this Elaine, straight to the point, I hear what you're saying, it's great that you're focusing on your websites, which should be our primary aim.

Enjoy your day.

Roy

As for me a try to stay focus on building my website and I’m in only one group since is a lot of time consuming.
and I think you should create your own fan page

Hello Gualdemar,

Thank you for taking the time to comment, that's very wise to focus on building your website and only be in one Facebook group, it's so easy to lose time. I actually already have several Facebook pages, I normally just tweet to these pages, in other words, everything that I share on Twitter is shared on my Facebook page.

Enjoy your day.

Good Morning Roy,

I have more than enough hay on my fork with 2 websites and Pinterest. I must say I like Pinterest, it gets you more traffic to your sites. The other aspect is I like to create pins. I would not be able to handle more social media as my man, animals and farm also need attention.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Hello Taetske,

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my blog post, I really do appreciate it.

It's interesting that you use Pinterest, it seems like it is getting very popular from what I understand and through reading Wealthy Affiliate posts, it's probably something that I need to use more. Although I think different things work for different people!

It's great that you have animals and a farm Taetske, something that I have a great interest in! I have worked with pigs, dairy cattle, beef cattle, sheep, chickens and turkeys and hounds!

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Good Morning Roy,

I live on an organic farm since 1981. I have a whole bunch of fruits trees, a big vegetable garden, cats, sadly Cindy my Rottweiler Lady died last year, happy chickens but only for the eggs. I have 2 black ladies who have not put an egg for years so they live here as pensionistas. Then there are also 2 ducks for the show. Miguel my gardener wanted to have turkeys, they are not too bright. It had walked into the duck pond, stood there, got tired and drowned. I also had peacocks once, they had a child, when the boy grew up there was a rivalry between the 2 boys, not good and they made a hell off a noise.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Good morning Taetske,

It sounds wonderful Taetske, there's something good about growing your own food, probably the most rewarding pastime in the world! I'm very sorry to hear about your Rottweiler, I have owned two German shepherds, but don't have a dog at the moment, I hope to have another one soon, the bonding between man/lady and dog is amazing!

I used to say that turkeys have one goal in life and that is to commit suicide! It sounds like I'm not far wrong on the subject going by your story! I know that peacocks can be extremely noisy.

Enjoy your day Taetske.

Roy

Good Morning Roy,

Cindy was a special girl and I loved her lots. I still get emotional thinking/talking about her. I wrote a post about her life, I will send you the link on PM.

Hasta Pronto, Taetske

Good morning Taetske,

I have just sent you a message, as to regard your link Taetske, it's great that you have written a blog post about Cindy, I always think it's great if we can remember the good times.

Have a great day.

If this helps I am in a couple of Facebook groups, but don't actively take part in them, although I get notified of updates from them, which in the main don't merit replies back to

I have my own page which is optimised for all search engines not just Facebook and IF I use Facebook it's usually to post a status update which goes to twitter too

I spend my day building my list through other means and ways and view social media as a bonus and not a must do

I get paid regularly without using social media, because I have found Facebook in particular a serious distraction which is no good business wise.

My main SM channels are YouTube and LinkedIn

Hope this is useful for you

Hello Dave,

I hope you're doing well. Thank you for your very interesting and informative reply, I really do appreciate it.

It's interesting that you are only on two Facebook groups Dave, I guess that there are probably about six Facebook groups that I am interested in and I guess the other 115 groups people have added me without me realising. I probably need to change something in my settings.

It sounds like you are using Facebook very wisely Dave, as it can be extremely distracting, it's good to use social media as a bonus rather than a must do! Very wise indeed.

It's interesting that you use LinkedIn, I have always liked LinkedIn as I find it much more serious and professional and depending on your niche I believe that you're more likely to attract the right type of people through LinkedIn. I have to say that I do find Twitter far quicker to use than Facebook, so I actually posted to Twitter and then it feeds through to my Facebook page. I'm sure YouTube can be extremely powerful too, it's something that I need to be doing more regularly.

Thank you, Dave, very useful indeed.

Roy

I am doing very well Roy thank you and to reply to your reply I have used Linkedin for years, simply because it is a business network where people EXPECT to do business and networking there you get everyone from affiliate marketers to CEOs of blue chip companies all of who are important because you don't know who they know.

YouTube, is again a must have and works better after 5pm UK time when the most uploads are done. It's very similar to the community here in how it works and looking at my creator stats for the past month and given its Christmas just gone, my channel has increased a lot and my video's have been shared more than my blog has, which is strange because the content go hand in hand as it were

Interactive are good and very encouraging which is why I chose to make it my prime channel as well as put myself in videos more

Twitter I use to share my blog on, because Twitters primary function is a microblogging site and the only real time business network of all of them and used by bloggers a lot

My Tracking stats showed me where I should be and so far they have not failed me,

Hello Dave,

Once again thank you for the very useful information, I hear you 100% regarding LinkedIn, I have always found this platform far more professional than any of the other social media platforms. I think we all underestimate the power of LinkedIn, for some reason, it seems people are always talking Facebook this and Facebook that, but I really feel that LinkedIn is far more advanced than what people realise! I don't mean this in a snobbish way, I mean it in a humorous way; people say, football equals Tesco's and rugby equals Waitrose! I often think Facebook equals Tesco's and LinkedIn equals Waitrose!!

It's interesting about YouTube Dave, are you making videos daily or several videos per week? I believe that there is huge power in video marketing, I think many people will watch a video but they won't read an article. I'd never heard about the uploading experience, as to the speed, I quite often make a video for my off-line business on my phone and upload the video through by phone when it is in my pocket. Sometimes the video updates amazingly quickly and other times it can be quite slow, I'm not sure if this is due to the Internet connection my end, depending on location or other people uploading videos.

It's great that your tracking stats show you that you are on the right route!

I appreciate your comments, Dave.

Have a great day.

Roy

HA HAM Iove the shopping with social networks comparison, I thought I was the only one who though that way!

Linkedin speaks a business language and its interesting that not many affiliate marketers go on there, except for say the serious business minded ones, those that are not, treat it like facebook and spout S***t mainly

But the majority of the platforms 500,000+ users are more than happy to take recommendations, its why Linkedin was set up by Reid all those years ago ( wayyy before Facebook and IPO'd long before facebook and more successfully too)

YouTube, I find my day always involves making a video or 2 about something so that its on the channel ready to go and then ultimately be embedded in my blog ( I use Thrive Themes which makes it so much easier)

I also, as a result of learning from Creators Academy, make shorter and more to the point videos now, as opposed to the long waffle some make

Equally you get good connections again from serious minded people who are happy to interact with you and take recommendations.

I always like and comment on those videos I think are good.

Comments, as long as they are valid, lead to connections and leads as has happened to me, so I know its a good move

Tracking stats, are my bible, if they say I should be on something, on that platform I go

In fact, it has to be said, that there is one very well know business man ( I'm not saying who) but certainly well known, who I through interactions on his videos, am beginning to get to know quite well

So who knows what doors that will open

Bit long winded again, but I like to explain the thought process behind why I do something... I don't & never have Followed the herd!!, but it may benefit those also just starting out too

Hope ti helps Roy

I have an account but I deny the invitation of people to add me to their group. I can't handle it.
I have 15 min facebook time.
As I build my site, I will add my business page and check out.

Very wise

Very wise Anusuya, Facebook and other social media platforms can be extremely time consuming! It sounds like you're heading in the right direction which is great.

Enjoy your day.

Roy

Definitely Dave, very wise.

I really have no time now.

I get referrals from Facebook and a few from Instagram, and I like to share my blog and videos on social media, and I see results. Facebook can be a lead machine

That's great Nadishia, I definitely agree with sharing things on social media, I believe this helps to give us recognition and if we can get leads, even better! I just feel that I have to be careful of how many group's and various platforms I get involved with as it can take me away from my ultimate goal.

Have a great day and thank you so much for commenting.

Roy

I joined web talk because a WA member convinced me but I find it a waste of time unless you want to get bombarded with offers.
Grace did well with her group, a lesson in there for us all.

Not so many other groups.
regards

Peter H

I did the same and a total waste of time

Thanks for taking the time to comment Peter. There are so many platforms that we can join, sometimes I think we would almost be better off if there were no social marketing platforms, however they do have their uses!

I agree with you, Grace has done a very good job with her group.

Have a great day.

Roy

I hear you Dave!

Hi Roy,

This is not a very helpful note I guess, as I am simply writing to totally agree with you.

I back your belief that all we need is here in Wealthy Affiliates but this does not stop me getting side tracked in too many other directions - such as joining FB groups and then doing nothing with them.

I guess it comes down to discipline and focus - what MUST be done today - do it and then do anything else afterwards.

Sorry - getting side tracked, must get back to TO DO list!!

Hello Geoff,

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post, I do appreciate it.

I'm glad you understand what I'm saying, it is so easy to get sidetracked on the Internet, discipline is so important and also getting our priorities in order too.

I like your last sentence, I must get back to my to-do list too!!!

Have a great day.

Roy
