How Important Is Ranking To You Here At Wealthy Affiliate?

I have heard quite a bit over the past few weeks about ranking at Wealthy Affiliate. I'm not 100% sure how the ranking works exactly, but I know that when we reply to questions, blog posts and welcome new people etc, it all helps to improve our ranking. My question is how important is ranking to you here at Wealthy Affiliate? I must admit that I find it very easy to be answering questions, respond to messages etc and then find I have very little time to work on my own websites, sometimes it is a job to get the balance right. I believe that it is very healthy to have a good ranking here at Wealthy Affiliate, however if we are not working on our own sites this is not good.

I believe that a good formula is to spend maybe 20% of our time learning and replying to messages etc and then to spend the rest of the time writing blog posts etc.

Any thoughts about ranking at Wealthy Affiliate?

Thank you for reading.

I think it's a nice motivator in some ways, but it can be pretty distracting. I try to do what I wan/t and need to do and if my rank goes up or down as a result, then great.

It's easy to spend too much time basically chatting with people instead of working on my site and it only gets worse as you improve in rank, because new members see you in the Top 200 or whatever, assume you're an expert and then ask for advice that you may or may not be able to give.

Yes, they think I am an expert Craig, but I am just available;)

Well, from what I have seen you are an expert... There have been a number of times that people have asked questions and I will see a response like "You can try (this), but I'm not sure if that will work. You may want to wait for Loes to get here..."
Lol

Thanks Craig, I know often where to find the right answer here:)

Thank you for responding to my blog post Craig, your first paragraph sounds very wise!

I have also been in the position of spending too much time on Wealthy Affiliate, rather than doing my own work on my websites!

Enjoy your weekend Craig, Roy.

I think that you are both Loes!

Enjoy your weekend, Roy.

I spend about 25% of my time with everything involving WA which includes emails, questions and answers and trainings. I think its important to try to help others in the same way that i am helped.

That sounds like a very good balance.

Thank you for your reply and enjoy your weekend, Roy.

Addictive but not really important Roy. At 220 days in Ambassador ranks I'm going to have some mentoring this week on my main niche site and start stepping down from the wagon!

Hello Michael, 220 days in ambassador ranking is quite impressive, I know that you work very hard Michael to stay at this level.

I appreciate you commenting and have a great weekend, Roy.

Most welcome Roy!

I agree with you--you can't spend all you time here helping others when that takes away from your spending you time doing something that brings in an income---if you don't pay your bills your creditors hound you or cut off your service---In my business it's called CCC---complementary coaching consultation---30 minutes then if they need more help they pay for your sevices

Thank you for your reply, this sounds like a good and fair principle.

Enjoy your weekend, Roy.

Hello I agree with you, but I also believe that I am learning a lot from others work/post, and from other questions asked.
I think that my own work would be better if I spent 50% on learning/reading others post and 50% on my own work. Then increase more time on my work as I learn.
Cheryl

Thank you for commenting Cheryl, I hear what you're saying and we can learn so much from helping others. The increase on spending more time on your websites as you learn more sounds like a very good principle.

Enjoy your weekend Cheryl, Roy.

Thank you, Roy

I never gave it much thought, it just happened.

Sometimes I have a lot to mention to the community and write 3 blogs on one day, sometimes I do not write blogs or training for weeks.

I do always reply to every comment, but that's courtesy and appreciation for people who take the effort to read my stuff.

I do try to follow-up as many blogs and questions of others, like them, like the good answers below, but not always place a comment and I never repeat an answer. Neither do I place useless answers as "Good question"

One thing I always do is be around here every day :) I never missed one day ever since I became a member.

I zap between my websites and WA during the day. I have always multiple tabs open to my websites and I often work on 3-4 different blogs at the time;)

I know it's not alright with Google, I do not have any consistency, but f*ck Google, I love every second of my "job", that counts way more for me than any rank anywhere.

A great way of juggling what you like Loes!

Yes, I think so too Michael:))

That's great!. Your last paragraph made me laugh.

Thank you for commenting Loes, three blog posts per day is very good going! I believe that you are working very hard and it seems like your principles are working well!

All the best to you Loes, Roy.

Thanks have a great Sunday Roy

Hi Roy and ranking is all good fun!!!

Hello Paul, thank you for commenting, actually this is so true, ranking all adds to the fun!

I hope you're doing well and enjoying your weekend, Roy.

Working In the garden and rebuilding boxes !!!

A good time of year to be outside Paul, it's very good spring weather here in the UK! Rebuilding boxes Paul, boxes for???

I'm sure you will have great fun!

Well boxes for my veggies so we can eat greens through winter all for good hellth!!

This sounds very good Paul and very healthy too and of course, very good fun!

Enjoy your day and all the best to you, Roy.

Yes health is most important my friend

It depends on what you want. If you are wanting to be financially self-sufficient then ranking here is not the way to go. In the end, ranking here just means you are helping a lot of members with their goals. That is the reward.

That's a very honest answer, but I hear and understand what you're saying! Thank you for commenting and enjoy your weekend, Roy.

I agree, if I spend time on WA etc. then I have very little time to write content for my website. As a beginner though I find doing a little more on the WA posts and learning helps me organise my website stuff better.

Thank you for commenting, I hear what you're saying and it is great to learn well-helping others too!

Enjoy your weekend, Roy

I believe it is best not to think about your ranking, and just focus on your business.
Ranking increases will happen organically provided you are constantly learning by taking full advantage of the courses, exchanging valuable ideas in WA, community, helping others, and applying your new knowledge to your business. It was devised by Kyle and Carson as a fun incentive to keep you on track with your goals. Then the money $ and success will come.

Thank you for commenting, more very wise words!

Has a very good weekend, Roy.
