I was inspired to write this blog post after reading Dale's excellent blog post, you can see Dale's blog post below.

I believe that we live in a great time, despite all the problems going on in the world. The Internet has really opened up absolutely massive opportunities for the businessman.

People often talk about the good old days, I'm not quite so sure if they were as good as they make out! We certainly have far more opportunities to make money than ever before and have the luxury of being able to carry out research, purchase goods, participate in online courses and much more!

So my question is; are you taking advantage of the tools available to you?

First of all, we have excellent training available here at Wealthy Affiliate. Living in the UK, I have never yet been able to watch one of Jay's webinars live, however, they are all recorded so we can watch or listen at any time.

Your SmartPhone Can Be Your Best Friend

I'm not a great lover of smartphones for work as I find them far too fiddly, I much prefer to use a PC. Even with text messages and WhatsApp messages I try and reply using my PC as I find it much easier and quicker, obviously, this isn't always possible.

However, one of the best things about smart phone for me is the fact that when I am working my off-line business I'm able to listen to some great training.

I think is absolutely fantastic that I can be working my off-line job and listening to Jay's training at the same time. There are times when I need to see the screen, but most of the time I can gain valuable information just by listening.

YouTube is another great learning source, providing the information is accurate, I think for most of us we know what's true and false in the Internet marketing world. I actually pay for the YouTube app that enables me to listen to YouTube when the phone is in my pocket as I listen to a lot of YouTube videos. So for me, I believe that I reap the benefits, even though there is a cost involved.

You can actually listen to YouTube with your smart phone screen locked in Google Chrome, however, it is more of a fiddly process.

Audible, is another great resource that can be used when we are on the move. Audible is part of Amazon, they offer audible books, more and more books are available as an audiobook. Once again this is a paid service, but for me, very beneficial indeed. I can purchase one book per month through the subscription (extra books can be purchased at cost if needed). I really enjoy reading, but time doesn't really permit, so audible is a fantastic solution.

To Conclude

Are you making the most of the resources available to you? And what resources do you find really valuable for your online journey?

Thank you for reading.

Roy

Thanks Roy,

We are almost overwhelmed with the resources available to us if we require assistance.

I am not a smartphone advocate & prefer to use my Laptop.

I do have a post I am preparing to add here - BI
BI - is before the internet.
As an old guy, I know what it is like not to have the internet. LOL

Denis

Good morning Denis,

Thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog post, I appreciate it.

We certainly do have a lot of resources available to us, it really makes you wonder how long the universities and colleges will carry on for. I think with the coronavirus nonsense, people have really seen the power of the Internet in action!

I hear you big time regarding your smartphone, they have their uses but a laptop or desktop is much quicker and easier. Or maybe it's just my big fingers!

I wondered what BI was for a moment, I'm with you now! I hadn't used a computer until 2001, I hadn't even touched the mouse, I knew absolutely nothing about computers or had any interest!

A family friend kindly suggested that I ought to start using the computer, he kindly set it all up for me too. I did find it exceptionally frustrating to start with, but gradually I got to grips with it.

To me, the face of the Internet changed when broadband became available, it made the Internet usable! In 2004 I started to research Internet marketing as I could suddenly see the power of the Internet. The rest is history!

It's hard to imagine life without the Internet, living in a village I started purchasing products online as it was such a timesaver. I actually Really go into a shop now, this really suits me as I'm not one for retail therapy, I can think of far better things to do! Incidentally, my wife is!

Have a great day.

Roy

Thank you Roy for your very interesting reply.

I come from a time before computers were part of normal business & way before there was such a thing called a PC, Laptop or Apple computer. Don't even mention a personal phone LOL.

My first computer for the company I worked for as finance director was a small computer with twin floppy drive - no hard drive, can you imagine it?

It is difficult to imagine how we would all cope without the internet during this COVID-19 epidemic.

I could go on but I would most likely bore you.

Denis

Good morning Denis,

Thank you for responding to my comments, it's appreciated.

I cannot imagine what computers would have been like in the early days, probably extremely infuriating! I can imagine you often wondered if it is really worth all the effort in trying to get this machine or contraption to work! I wish to say if the computer was a machine like a digger, tractor, combine harvester etc you would scrap it if it worked like a computer behaved!

Just in the last few years computers have become so much more stable. Even now I can remember being so frustrated with Windows XP as they seemed to act up so much!

I can remember reading comments on Facebook with people threatening to throw their computer out the window as it was playing up so much! I'm so thankful we are past that stage now!

I remember a friend of mine who is into computers told me that his first computer had a floppy disk and this first proper hard drive was a 1/4 of a gigabyte, unbelievable!

My recent new desktop as three drives (two SSD's) totalling 3 TB and 64 GB of RAM and an Intel i9 processor! How things change!

I hear you big time Denis, things could have been very difficult for people had we not been able to utilise the power of the Internet. What an amazing invention the Internet really is!

I have never understood why companies have these big offices in London and not utilise the power of the Internet. I guess a lot of it is due to accountability, I guess now that companies will start to see that there is no point in hiring office space at such high prices.

A friend of mine who works in IT is working from home at the moment, but normally he would spend 15 hours a week on the train travelling which almost equals two working days! And £4000 a year train fares and provide him with office space. This has never ever made sense to me when he can work perfectly well from home.

Wishing you a great day Denis.

Roy

I'm with you regarding the smart phone. I guess my fingers are simply too fat. However, I DO use it when I need to. I love being able to catch up on emails where ever I am.

The training here is amazing!!! Between Kyle, Jay, some of our own WAers and You Tube, you can get all the affiliate marketing skills you need.

~Debbi

Good morning Debbi,

I appreciate you taking the time to comment and to read my blog post.

It amazes me how many young people use their smartphone for everything, I just try and avoid using my smartphone as much as possible! It's just so much quicker on a PC, especially as I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking!

I agree, the training here is excellent, any newbie can quickly learn Internet marketing skills.

Wishing you a great Sunday.

Roy

I agree with you Roy that there are so many sources and I believe people still don't use them enough.
I personally have been using YouTube for learning for a long time and recommend it to all people who are learning a language. Just recently I found my favourite book in Spanish as an audio book there so I've been listening to it before sleep.
Lenka

Hello Lenka,

I hope you're doing well and business is good.

We really are so fortunate to live in an age with so many resources, literally at our fingertips. YouTube can be a great learning tool, there are several people that I listen to regularly.

I admire anyone who can speak different languages, my wife is from Greece, so I appreciate the difficulty of learning languages. I need to learn more Greek words!

Wishing you a great day.

Roy
