Are You On Gettr And What's Your Experience?
I hope you are all doing well and enjoyed the Christmas break.
Today I joined the newish social media platform called Gettr. I wouldn't say that I am the greatest fan of social media. However, I have used Twitter for quite a number of years, probably around 13 years, I would guess. (I have a few Twitter accounts) One of the reasons I like Twitter is the fact that it is very quick to use, I find it much quicker and far less clunky than Facebook, for example. Gettr was founded in July 2021, so it's relatively new.
Over the last couple of years, it does appear that more and more people are being banned from Twitter, especially if it doesn't suit the narrative! I believe that we all have opinions and that all people are equal and that we are created, individuals. So, it's good to be able to express our views openly, providing that we do this in a polite and adult way. It seems like over the last few days some Twitter members have been banned from Twitter with over 500,000 followers. Twitter also has a habit of removing followers and undoing retweets and likes.
I've always felt that social media platforms need to be somewhere where we can express our honest opinion without being banned or suppressed. Hence why I thought I would give Gettr a try! Apparently yesterday, Gettr gained 150,000 followers in one day which is fairly impressive.
I just wondered if any members on Wealthy Affiliate have tried Gettr and what is your experience so far? All I can say is that I want to be on a platform where we can have free speech. You can find my Gettr profile on my profile page.

No, I haven't tried Gettr yet, but thanks for bringing it to our attention!
Also, most Social Media platforms were supposedly created so people would have a place for freedom of expression and speech.
That is why (in the U.S.) they have the legal protections that they enjoy today.
However, now it seems their idea of free speech is only speech that they agree with!!!

It's all new to me, Zach, however, it is almost identical to Twitter, the only difference being that it allows free speech!
I agree with you, I always thought social media was a place where we could express ourselves, however, that seems to be changing rapidly. I know for a fact that Twitter removes likes and retweets and followers if it doesn't suit their narrative!
I'm about 22 hours in so far and I have 155 followers on Gettr. This may be partly because there was a sudden rush of British people on Gettr over the past few days. I think people have had enough of Twitters nonsense!
I will try and write another post in a few weeks.

My experience has been good so far. The functionality of Gettr is virtually identical to Twitter, so it is quick to use. The good thing years that Gettr allows free speech.

I've heard a few people in various places mention Gettr so I'll go and check it out too.
Social media is a good way to raise awareness of your business but with ever-changing algorithms and things like losing followers or even whole accounts, you dont want to be dependant on any particular site.
I like the sound of more free speech though so thanks for the heads up!

I had also heard about it but had not taken much notice as there seem to have been so many social media platforms starting up! My initial thoughts were that I can't be on every social media platform!
I have always liked the simplicity of Twitter although I don't particularly agree with their narrative and the way they take followers away from people. Gettr is almost the same as Twitter, but apparently, they do allow free speech, which is good news.
From my limited amount of knowledge of Gettr, it seems like there has been a terrific amount of people moving over to this new platform, literally in the last few days! And a terrific amount of people from the UK.
So far my experience has been good, I would say at the moment Gettr is more about politics and anything else. However, I can see that gradually changing as more and more people move over from Twitter.
