just wondering, how will I know when I have made a sale through my site? will it be through one of my affiliate sites, by email or in my wordpress backoffice? just curious...</
Most affiliate programs give you a back office site where you can follow your clicks and profits. Check that out, Loes
Depending on your affiliate program, I know Amazon gives you a record of what is going on. Also check your paypal account if that is how you are getting payed.

I am trying to create a link in text for a product I am reviewing but for some reason it wont allow me even though im doing it on visual not text. so instead can I get a picture
You can do it via text or a picture. To add a link to text, simply highlight the text, and click on the add hyperlink button. You will then be prompted to add your affiliate link.
To add a link to a picture, click add media, select or upload your picture, on the right-hand side, under the attachment display settings, clcik on the link to drop down box add select custom url. Enter your affiliate link and clcik insert into post.

Yea you can insert the link into any image you upload. If you want a logo, there are 2 obvious options
1. go to wikimedia-commons http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page They have logo images of almost every brand and all images are copyright free
2. Do a screenshot of the affiliate program page and crop out the logo. Make sure to only do this on your affiliate program if you are registered eg. Amazon affiliates, you don't want to get into trouble for copyright infringement

no im definitely in visual mode on wordpress not text... this is really frustrating now! I wish I could physically show someone who knows what to do.... its either something so simple or something im not doing. ive also tried it on my dads computer and still no link pop up box appears :((
I suspect you are editing in html mode to add a link you need to go to the top right of the box you are writing in, save the content and then switch to visual.

thanks marion but im clicking the correct symbol and nothing is showing up at all. no pop up box is appearing. very strange ...
If your hosting is with WA then you can put in a support ticket. I've never done this but someone else is sure to be able to help. Try Live Chat there's usually someone there who knows more than me.
When you click on the link icon, look at the top of your browser and see if something pops up saying that it is blocking your pop up.
nope still nothing. i highlight the word and then the link symbol becomes available then i click it and just nothing happens
@Shawn007 I tested my website with the popup blocker on and the window opened up as usual so it's not a problem with the popup blocker.

You are trying to place an affiliate URL onto highlighted text in a page or post, but it won't give you the option to add the link?
yep. on kyles training he clicks on the link symbol and up pops a box of where you should input your affiliate link so that the word then gets highlighted allowing anyone to click on it to take them to the relevant site... but for some reason it wont allow me to do it. no pop up box appears at all!

Hi, in your wordpress dashboard, go to 'appearances' and then select 'widgets.' You will come to a page where on the right side there are your available widgets and on the left side there is a menu of all your sidebar widgets being used and another menu for your home page widgets if you have that setup also.
All you need to do is drag the widgets you want over from available widget list into your sidebar menu. There is a plain text widget option also to add anything you want including HTML codes. You can play around with where you want them positioned also. You then just view your site to see if you like the results. To remove you just drag them back out. I hope this helps. Wishing you great success. :)))

on the left its just got a load of categories! askismet widget, calendar, custom menu etc... then to the right is archives, categories, meta, recent comments, rss etc.... so confused lol
If you are in 'footer' area, then you have selected menus, then 'manage location' instead of widgets. What are you trying to accomplish? If you are trying to add something to your sidebar then you just select 'widget' under the appearance section of your dashboard.
All the stuff you see on the right of the widget page such as meta tags, categories etc... are widgets you can choose to put into your sidebar to be shown or not. You just select from there what you what to put in. When you add a plugin, it creates more widgets for you also depending on the purpose of your plugin. If you have your own thing to write, then you select 'plain text' and fill it out. I wish you success. You will get there. Hang in there.

We all receive spam. Is your Askimet activated? I get a ton of spam all written in Chinese. Thousands have been blocked to date.
