Top tips on coping with stress

Lets face it, we all have gone through some kind of stress in our life at some point

How we manage and cope with that stress is entirely upon us. I personally feel we all have a different approach to how we deal with stress. I can say for myself, i have to let out a little scream (or a big one) to feel somewhat better.

Here i explain ways that one can manage stress. The list can go on and on but i have written down just a few, these include:

  • Going for a walk and getting some fresh air
  • Spending time with nature, feel the outdoors
  • Call a good friend for a chit chat and take your mind off things
  • Play a competitive game like tennis and football
  • If you feel write a journal about what you are feeling
  • Take a long warm bath, something to relax your body
  • Light scented candles
  • Have a warm cup of chamomile tea for relaxation
  • Play games on your phone
  • Get a massage- a good shoulder massage will help ease the stress
  • Curl up with a good book and sleep well
  • listen to music- soft classical music will help

It’s easy to identify sources of stress following a major life event such as changing jobs moving home, or losing a loved one, but pinpointing the sources of everyday stress can be more complicated. It’s all too easy to overlook your own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that contribute to your stress levels. Sure, you may know that you’re constantly worried about work deadlines, but maybe it’s your procrastination, rather than the actual job demands, that is causing the stress.

Whatever your approach maybe to de-stressing it is important to note how stress can affect you in the long term. I have tried a few of the above and it has been helpful to me and i hope the above can be helpful for you too.
