Working Interspersed with Walking

I love to start my day with work... checking emails, popping in here at WA, writing down my plans for the day in my planning notebook. That's after a few stretches, a light breakfast, and going through my personal prayer list. But most of that has me sitting down and it isn't long until I have to move.

So I get up and walk. Often I walk in our house. Home office -- hallway -- living room -- dining room -- kitchen -- laundry room aka mudroom -- bedroom -- sewing room -- attached greenhouse -- around and around. Slower then faster.My jogger is in the greenhouse, so I often get onto it for a while.

Usually one or both of our dogs follow me around. Or like Lilly here, they watch eagerly for signs that I might go

out.

Depending on the weather, and on how beseeching those doggy eyes are, I may also go out in our yard.

But only if it is not extremely cold, hot, rainy, or windy.

Rainy? not too often here in the desert southwest of the US. I'd love more!

As I walk, I'm giving my mind a bit of a break, but before long I'm thinking about what I will do when I go back to my desk. Writing, usually.

And after more desk time, I have to get up and move around. And so the cycle continues, with variations for cooking (which my husband and I share), meals, my obligatory after-lunch nap, all the sweet reasons I love working at home.

As I write this, our other dog is at my feet. Lilly is probaby just outside the office door, curled up in the soft round bed there. Ah, no, my husband is studying his new iphone in the dining room and Lilly is at HIS feet. No problem. The moment one of us moves, she will be right there.

So over the course of a day, I do get in a reasonable amount of walking. Not the 10,000 steps that sometimes people advocate. I only do that much on rare days. But still enough to hit a good balance.

How do you get exercise?

Rosana, Lilly is a beauty! It sounds like you do pretty good walking around your home and staying active.

I ride my motorcycle whenever I can, but it seems to have no effect on me as far as exercise goes, and I've been told cycling was supposed to be healthy! 🙄🙄

Seriously though--I walk around a lot on my jobs and when I'm doing yard work or cleanup. It's about all I can really do with half of a right foot!

Nice pleasant post!

Remain safe, my friend!

Jeff

Jeff I hadn't remembered your foot challenge. Sounds like you cope well.

It's been almost five years since the amputation, Rosana, so I've adjust really well! I hope you and yours are fine!

Be safe!

Jeff

Hi Rosana,
I am not doing anywhere near what I would normally do since I joined this madhouse seems to occupy my time fully.. Would walk and walk normally. I walked my dog everyday of his life rain, shine, snow, sleet...lols at least an hour normaly two. I walked at least five miles on the fly fishing. Riding on bike along country roads. All that is behind me now dog is in dog heaven and although live in a park with a river flowing through it and can do all these activities I'm more devoted to what I'm committed to here for now... with an occasional long walk along the river I'm fortunate in that I can just walk out and its at my doorstep when I want!! ;

Will there be another dog, do you think?

Have had one beside me from a baby Rosana..lols the one before Zak was a Rotwieller named Rupert as he was akin to a bear his paws where so large in proportion to his body as a pup and he was of the very large variety ha ha so Rupes it was ; all have been thorough breds prior... of all kinds.. Zak was from a pound as the two young girls he was assigned to got bored with him after Christmas terrible issues with him psychologically when I got him thankfully quite young!! Without a shadow of a doubt he was the cleverest rascal of them all Rosana.. Zakariah because bred in the hills terrier/spaniel cross for rabbits always at my feet....

Recovering but I after my grieving it's been a while for this one I daresay there will be another...;

Hi Rosana, thanks for sharing how you spend your day at this present time.
Exercise for me is walking to my allotment (5minutes away from home), gardening - preparing the land for planting.
Then walking back home.
Whilst at home, I do some WA preparatory work on my laptop on the ground floor and I get plenty exercise when I need to go upstairs to the first floor computer room(2 flights).
I am fortunate to have a garden alongside my home, so I occasionally have a walk outside, weather permitting.
