Three Reasons I Like GeneratePress

I've changed some of my websites to the GeneratePress theme, after reading comments here in WA from Kyle and many others, about its benefits. I had previously been using a more elaborate theme, and I will be taking it off my sites to speed them up.

I started with the free version of GeneratePress and after a while I couldn't resist moving to the paid version, as I do love to mess around with settings. Both versions give me excellent speeds... on sites that I have moved here to WA, to get the advantages of the speed at this hosting platform.

Speed is my #1 favorite reason for using the theme, as rapid loading is more and more important.

Being suitable for people who go to websites on their cellphones is my second reason. Yesterday a 40-year-old woman was at our place looking at the old motorhome we are selling. I watched in some awe as she whipped around doing research on her phone. Me, I love laptops, but I could see from watching her that she was totally at home doing complex work on the phone. I was watching the future, and it's a future that is already here.

My third reason is that I like the looks I can easily create with this theme. Here's my author site, for example.

Now this may not be a look you would go for, as we are all different, but hey GeneratePress is worth a good look in any case!

I agree with you Generate Press is a good theme. I was amazed at how fast it was when I did some troubleshooting to find out why one of my menus on mobile was not working.
I disabled all plugins and then tested the menu (it worked). But the site was very fast. I am now trying to limit the number of plugins so I can keep the speed.

Good luck with your sites - I like the screenshot of the author site.

I agree -- I now have GeneratePress on two of my three websites, and like it. I didn't change the third one because it seems to be doing fine...if something works, don't fix it, right?

I may change to the paid version, though, because I'd imagine then you get support from the theme-makers. That could be an advantage.

On the other hand, with so many people here using it, Fran, you could probably get a lot of support right here at wa.

That's true, and in fact, I have. One thing I like about the Pro, tho, is I believe it lets you change background colors. I'd be interested in playing around with that. Have you tried that feature?

Yes, and here is the start of a website that doesn't have much on it yet but you can see the top bar is blue: http://colorfulprayer.com

I still want to move the header to align with the text, just haven't yet.

Cool! One thing I'd like to try, and I think with that feature you could do it...I've seen some reviews where selected paragraphs had a different background color. Made them really stand out. I'd like to try that.

That idea would perfectly suit that website, Thanks!

Certainly getting a lot of great press of late. @ChrystopherJ did a recent post comparing mobile site speeds and out of 14 or 15 themes tested, the GeneratePress theme was the one he recommended.

Hey Zana,

I'm a Premium Generate Press theme fan myself. I love the look of your site and I can certainly see the love of your passion.

Thank you for sharing your reasons. The speed and how the site looks on mobile is amazing and sooooo easy to use.
