I'm a Fan of Foxit PDF Software
For years I've been using Foxit PDF Reader, preferring it over competitors. Now, with tax time upon us, I downloaded the Foxit PDF Editor to fill out my forms. It came with a two-week trial, a good motivation to get the doggone things done fast.
I can't say doing taxes is fun under any circumstances, but i DID find it went more smoothly with the Editor. In fact, it dawned on me while working with it that I could do ebooks and books with it. So I bought it. Not cheap, but a one-time fee.
I've created my books with Scrivener, with Vellum (a Mac-only program), and in the past with MS Publisher. I shudder to remember the page layout problems I had using early editions of MS Word. My husband uses InDesign. I never did that but I did use something similar, Affinity Publisher, but it was more than a bit over my head.
So I don't know for sure yet, but I am hopeful that the Foxit Editor may do what I want and be my true love for publishing, going forward.
In learning it, I tried some online tutorials but now I am skimming through the User Guide in the program itself, thus making it easy for me to try things out as I go... not in the guide itself but in a journal file. For example, in my print books I need to use 300 dpi images. Online 72 dpi is fine but they come out fuzzy on paper. Foxit is fine with both, it seems.
Onward ho!

Interesting. I use the WA program with some Word content. Works so far.
Thanks for the input

I do use Foxit reader, but I have not considered buying the editor. Though I do admit on occasion it would be useful to have. If it is also a one time fee here in Thailand - I will consider it.

I'm sure the current Word is much better than what I used to use, Jeff. But I'm so frugal (umm, sure, call me cheap!) that I don't like to use software I have to keep paying for.
