How to Procrastinate. When You Really Should

WHAAAAT? There are times when you should procrastinate? Oh yes.

I used to teach time management and I did become something of an expert on procrastinating. Sounds goofy, doesn't it? Let me explain.

You and I would likely agree that setting priorities is a useful skill. Well, that's all I'm talking about. If you sat down in the morning and made a list of things you think you should do that day, chances are the list would include important things and not-so-important ones. And chances are it might have more on it than you can do in a day. (Confession: my lists often do.)

So here is where you need to procrastinate on some of those list items. Go down your list and use A, B, C or 1, 2, 3 or ***, **, * or whatever you like. Set priorities and maybe times. The things that don't make the cut for today get moved over to tomorrow or another day.Easy peasy.

Then get going with those top items.

For example, I am writing this on a Saturday morning. I do a little housework on Saturdays, usually in the afternoons. I finish up odds and ends at my desk too, and those get a higher priority.

The Boss sometimes helps. Today she couldn't be bothered.

Ah, yes -- I see you have the kind of boss I have. Mine has a chair right next to my computer. Had to put it there to keep him off the computer, or my lap. The lap is fine, but it gets difficult to type sometimes...he takes up all the room and then some.

You do need to know just how much you can get done, and how long that list needs to be. Sometimes the things on the list just won't fit the day.

Thanks
Good advice
