Why your Site Comments have been DISAPPROVED!

Don't feel dissed. Here's two reasons that may have happened, explained within my response to a WA member:

XXXXX, I'm so sorry to have to disapprove. You made an error that is easy to make. Sometimes things are confusing on WA!

I am looking for Site Comments, which are comments on the article, as if you are a bona fide visitor to my site, read my blog, and want your comments to appear at the bottom of the article. What you've given are comments on my overall site, not the particular blog. And I must say, I appreciate your thoroughness!

Clearly you have given me one of the best reviews of my site, and that is very helpful. However, it will appear strange to non-WA visitors that you don't focus on the topic of the article; your focus is on constructive criticism of my entire site.

Because your comments don't work to tell others what you liked about the article, I can't approve it and have it show up there. I'm sorry. And thanks for the constructive criticism. I do hope you will try again.

This is what happens on my end when I disapprove: "* Disapproval of a comment will put your request back into the system so that the disapproved comment is replaced with a new comment from a different person."

By the way, I once had a Site Comment disapproved when I misinterpreted what the point was of the article. You will find that it lowers your Site Comments ranking for a little while. Just keep doing more Site Comments and you'll quickly bounce back up. That's all it affects as far as rankings, only Site Comments, not WA ranking or anything else.

Thanks for your efforts. I truly know how easily it is to make this mistake and am surprised I haven't had it happen more often.

Best,

Rori

RoriO, you wrote this so well. This is how mistakes can be made into lessons, I learned from this post. I had a comment disapproved, the way the reason was stated really hurt my feeling. I know we are about the business of learning, so when a mistake is made, don't crucify the person. We are all adults, I really appreciate the way you handled the disapproval, turning it into a lesson for us who are new at this. Have a wonderful day!

Glad you liked it. I can't agree with you more; no reason ever to diss someone who is learning. When it happens to adults it's bad enough, but with kids it can alter their lives on to a negative track they may never get beyond.

Thanks for sharing! We cannot win them all.

I've only had 2 comments of mine disapproved, but one really had me mad because it was not a legitimate reason to disapprove it. All I said was that it was a great article about a particular person/product he was talking about and I said I was very interested in it, but I was just concerned about the price and I asked him how much it would be monthly as it really wasn't said.

He disapproved my comment because he said I should NOT question any aspect of it saying that I should buy/join it as it is the best way to enhance your life and make the most money possible and I ought to join immediately. Needless to say I've never been back to his website.

I had one of my comments disapproved because I asked a question, which I thought was relevant to her niche. She did tell me it did not help her site so... I guess I get it. I have learned the only way to get approved comments is to talk about the topic at hand and to only offer positive comments.

Edifying information Rori!

Great blog Rori.

Rori, Thank you for sharing this information. I had this happen once. It was a mistake!

Honestly, the feeling of disapproval is not good no matter where you go. I definitely agree, if someone is going to take the time to make a website with genuine sincerity, then people should write a just as genuine comment to compliment your website.

Cheers!
