Does Entrepreneurship Mean Broke?

Obviously here at WA, we know that entrepreneurs are making money but what about out there in the world, do people take entrepreneurship seriously?

I have covered this issue on one of my website, but I had to bring it up here and see if you guys have experienced the same. So there is this talk show that I love watching and there was an episode where they were discussing dating and relationships.

Are Online Business Owners Percived As Lazy People?

Then it was time for the audience to participate and ask questions. So this young lady stands up and describes her dilemma. Apparently her boyfriend is an entrepreneur who runs his own online business, and has asked her to move in with him.

And in order for her to move in with him, she has to quit her job. Well the talk show host advises her to stay where she is and keep her job because apparently her boyfriend is broke. The talk show host went on to say that people who claim to be entrepreneurs running online business are a bunch of lazy broke people.

The reason why I am writing this, is that today again I watched something similar where a young lady said she runs her own online business and she was advised to find a job.

This Post Was Supposed To Be One Of Those Why Me Type Of Posts But I Got Encouragement From Another Post.

In today's post I was going to talk about my referrals here at WA, I seem to refer people but they don't complete their profiles, so I was kinda wondering what I am doing wrong. By the way, if you are a stater member, you have until March 16th to upgrade and enjoy the current web hosting plan we have now.

After March 16th things are changing Read my previous post Here

Then I read a post by one of WA member that I admire so much, and the post gave me courage.

In the post he mentioned that he has referred members who don't complete their profiles, and then he thought that was just someone who was just curious about WA, then the person would come back maybe a couple of months later and complete profile and in many cases some would just go premium.

When I Saw This Same Issue Arise On Another Show I Had To Mention It Here

So after reading the post that gave me hope, I decided to talk about how misunderstood entrepreneurs are. I was actually gong to talk about my experience but when I saw that same issue on another show today, I said I will share it here and see how many of you have experienced this issue.

Alright so I just received some money today and I was so excited to share with the family. How much you ask? OK, it's not an amount worth shouting from rooftops about but it means a lot to me. It was just $15 I know it's not much, and I know from the success stories that you have been reading here at WA lately.

My little $15 is really nothing. Anyway, when I shared my story, a family member laughed in my face, and said '' yeah you are on your way to becoming a millionaire''

Its really hurtful, and makes me wanna work so hard so I can just show them.

How Many Of You Here At WA Who Are Not Getting Support From Loved Ones?

I think the online business is still not taken seriously despite the fact that everyone is on their devices these days, shopping, scrolling, watching videos, reading. When I wrote my post about the Forbes top ten highest earners. On that list the group of people who dominated the list making millions of dollars are the gaming community.

These are people who are making millions of dollars from video games. Now I am sure if you spoke to those people and asked them about the challenges they faced when they first started, I am sure they would have a lot to say.

Can you imagine telling family and friends that you are going to make money from playing video games? I mean I really don't know much about video games but I can imagine, the looks those Youtubers got.

And how many jobs were suggested to them.

My Point Is, Online Business Is Still Not Taken Seriously

I was also watching an interview with a very successful YouTuber, and she was looking to buy a house, when she was doing paper work and she put the occupation as YouTuber, she faced some problems where the sale was being reconsidered.

She wrote a check and paid for the house in full and put those doubtful people to shame. I don't know why people still think that making money online is a myth.

OK, I have to be honest and say that there was a time when I had started believing that it was a myth myself, but that was because of all the failures I faced when I was trying to learn this business.

But I Am Not That Person Anymore. I am A Believer Now

I guess now since I have learned so much from Wealthy affiliate and from the research that I have been doing for my articles. I know for a fact there is lots of money to be made online. One thing I find strange, when one is employed by a company and they work remotely, they are respected.

But when one runs their own online business, they are advised to find a job. Why is it that if you work for someone else, you are respected but if you decide to become your own boss then, people are not so sure and they feel like you have no money?

Conclusion

I feel like as long as people don't see you beating the traffic in the morning to get to work, they think you are just sitting around all day doing nothing. Or Let's say you do have a 9 to 5 but you spend your free time building your online business, people think you are wasting your time and you should be out there in the bar.

Or as a woman, I should be out there shopping, or on social media gossiping, it's very strange how our society works. And that is why a community like Wealthy affiliate is very important. We need to encourage each other, and help each other out when we can.

Just by answering someone's question or commenting on a post, and sharing your own experinces gives encouragement. Let's stick together WA Fam, or as Heidi calls it WAmily :)

OK, now I have a few questions for you. Do you experience that side eye when you tell your family that you are going to be on your computer for the next couple of hours and you should not be disturbed?

Do your friends think you are crazy when you tell them you have to go do some research for your next blog post/YouTube video? Please share your views on this topic below on the comment section.

Thank you for your time

Hi Rose,
I get it all the time from my soon to be ex wife!
The reason 96% remain wage slaves is fear of the unknown and unwillingness to learn and embrace new ideas (I think that's 3 reasons actually).

Ignore them and use their negativity as fuel to drive you on and prove them wrong.

And surround yourself with positive people who have already achieved success here at WA. I know you already do - I'm telling myself!

Imagine how their faces will look when there are 200 × $15!

You are absolutely right. I get lots of support and encouragement from my WA Fam and that is what keeps me afloat and motivated.
To be honest with you, if it wasn’t for this wonderful community, I won’t be where I am today in this business.

Rose, just like the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step, so also does the journey to being a financial success (millionaire) begin with one sale (your $15 dollar sale in this instance)! Keep on keeping on and ignore the ignorance of the naysayers! Secretly ,they are just jealous! 😎👍

That’s what I thought too Jeff, they are jealous of me, because I am using my free time wisely, and building something awesome 😎 Thank you Jeff.

You're very welcome, Rose!

I actually had this happen when I was a managed care supervisor in a call center. People could not understand why or how I got paid to supervise those who JUST took phone calls!
"How tough was that they said" :)
Then when I moved home and managed those who worked from home it was said again to me. I tried a brick and mortar store and it bombed because of the costs involved.
Interestingly while working the salary position I still managed to build a networking group in the thousand's, yet never plunged in full time because of the stigma of Entrepreneurship!

Now I am considered just doing this as a hobby! LOL!
I have not shared income figures yet, and holding back until it's substantial then they will take notice.
Then again at this point I do not care because have this great community who understand.
Good post Rose,
Take care,
Bill

Exactly, we are so lucky to be here at WA. Where you get to connect with a group of people who share the same vision as you. It’s quite refreshing.

Yes, this is most definitely a hard thing to explain to friends and loved ones.

But unless someone has an understanding of how the internet works, and how money is being made online all day, everyday, they don't seem to really get what we're trying to do.

I now only share my dream of becoming a successful affiliate with people that I think will understand and be supportive. Because that's what we need in the beginning – support. Not the Negative Nellies, who only sap our energy, and make us second guess ourselves.

I can do that just fine without their help, thank you very much. : )

My sister gets it, and is excited to join when she gets back from Cuba. And I'm looking forward to showing her what I've learned, and helping her get rolling too.

Negative Nellies can just go be negative somewhere else.

Here's to our success!

Cheers
Tracy

I am so glad that your sister gets it and is interested in learning. I have tried to introduce some of my friends but they don’t seem interested. My family members are definitely not interested.
