COVID-19 And The Stock Market, Plus Panic

For Those who have invested in stock market, maybe you need to stop checking the stock market because things are looking absolutely depressing. We have a dear friend who had invested big money in stocks and his doctor has advised him to stop checking the stock market.

That's because he is raising his blood pressure so high every time he checks on his shares. Husband and I had invested in a few shares 3 years ago as a long term investment, just a little money, and we had been watching as our shares kept gaining steadily.

But of course now with this crisis and the stock market taking a nose dive all over the world, our little shares have dropped drastically.

Our bank lady assured us that things will get back to normal once we find our way out of this COVID-19 crisis.

But If You Have Been Thinking About Long Term Investment In Stock, Then This Is The Time

Of course for those who are interested in investing in shares, and have some money to invest as a long term investment, this is the time to purchase the shares that you are interested in. Since the prices are down you will be able to purchase a good number of shares.

Just keep in mind that it could take time for things to improve so you need to make sure that you can afford to keep your money tied up in shares for a while.

All That Being Said, I Hope You Will Stay Safe

I hope that you and your family will be safe during these hard times. And please when you are doing your shopping, keep in mind that there are people who can't afford to buy lots of supplies in one go because maybe they don't have money for it.

Can you please leave some supplies in the supermarket for such people.

I Just Saw A Woman Crying Because She Cannnot Find Any Diapers For Her Baby

This really broke my heart, a woman posted a video of empty shelves at a supermarket, the shelves were where they put baby diapers and wipes. She just broke down and cried because she said she did not have money to buy a lot in one go.

And the people who have money have wiped out the shelves. Honestly, lets spread kindness and courtesy to other human beings.

When you buy supplies that will last you for two months, what about those who don't have money to do as you have done?

So your baby will have enough supplies for two months while another mom is crying at the supermarket because she can't find any diapers and wipes for her baby. Surely what is this world turning into?

I am Not Even Gonna Talk About The Toilet Paper

I come from a county where we from time to time have outbreaks like cholera out breaks. For those who don't know one of the symptoms of Cholera is diarrhea, but people never clean out the supermarkets shelve of toilet paper.

Now the corona virus is a respiratory infection, which means if you contract the infection, it will affect your lungs, nothing to do with your digestive system.

I have been reading on the symptoms of the COVID-19 a lot lately because as some of you may know I recently had to travel for a baptism in the Scandinavia, Husband and I returned on the 10th of March, we were only gone for four days, and came back just before the world started shutting down.

Now from all the symptoms I have read, there is no mention of diarrhea, so I really don't understand what the madness about toilet paper is about.

Corona Virus Is A Global Crisis

I also want to mention that the corona virus is spreading everywhere in the world now, so to be honest it does not matter where it originated from, it's our problem now and we must come together and fight it.

We must follow the doctors advise, if you are told to stay at home, do so, that way we will stop this thing from spreading. As it is now there are still peopled especially young people who are not taking it seriously.

Just remember, you might not suffer even if you contract the infection, because you are young and your immune system is strong, but, you could infect people who have weaker immune system than you. And that means you are putting people at risk. So if you are told to stay at home, then please do so.

I am trying so hard not to mention things like stigma towards the Asian people, because obviously I do not want to make my post sound political. But as I said this crisis, is a global crisis now.

Kenya, which is where I am from just announced that they too have confirmed Corona Virus Infection cases.

And Here In Greece Everything Is Closed

Here we have been advised to stay at home unless you need to go to the pharmacy or to get groceries. And I must say here in Greece people are listening, when we went to sort out our WIFI yesterday, there were no people in the streets.

And at the phone shop we were told to wait outside and they were letting one person at time get in.

Conclusion

We here at WA, we are lucky because we can continue working on our websites. Personally, I am so happy to have WiFi back, now I shall write some posts on my SAC website because I need to get it to 100 posts ASAP.

I've got lots of work to do, I plan to get my SAC, website to 100 posts, then I think I will let it simmer for a while. Then I'll get my next website to 100 posts, I hope that's a good plan what do you think?

So what are you up to? How are you dealing with this crisis? leave your comments below.

Thank you for your time.

Rose.

It what the market does. You can't watch daily. If you're that risk adverse, there are mutual funds that are very conservative -- but the returns are less.

I never looked at the diaper aisle. Like someone else said, I used cloth when my kids were that age. The TP thing I will never understand!!!

~Debbi

The TP, thing is beyond me, I really would like to know the logic behind it.

Debbi--aside from my Roth IRA, the rest of my funds are in high risk investments. Lat year my overall return was 38% which is fantastic,

I only invest $100/month, but have been doing so since the 1990s.

I pared down my "going out to eat fund, and the money is at less risk invested than it is going out to eat, which we all know a few hours after that where it goes! 🙄🙄. So I always tell my broker to let it ride!

Jeff

Yes, you can do that if you're in for the Long haul. However, close to retirement, cut it back some.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but I also still have my real estate and some other assets, so I'm lucky to that extent--although we'll see what weathers this current storm besetting our world!🙄

Have a GREAT Thursday, my friend!

Jeff

Hi Rose.

So sad that people have panicked and bought up all the diapers. I wonder if baby food and formula are available.

I don't know if they are still available anywhere, but when my son was a baby (long before there were Walmarts--he's 42 now) some people (including me) still used cloth diapers. Pampers were available, but I only used those when I was going to be out and about, away from home.

Cloth diapers and rubber pants are probably relegated to a museum somewhere now since disposable ones are so much more convenient...except in times like this! I wonder if they might be available online.

If diaper shortages are as bad as the toilet paper mess, and if people still have sewing machines and know how to use them, it is a simple process to make them. I doubt if the fabric to make them would be sold out!

Yes, I know about the cloth diapers, it wasn't so long ago that they were used in Kenya. And I also think they had started coming back because of the environment, conscious people.

I just don't know how much is left now.
I bet they too are sold out.

In this hysteria one never knows, Carol! 😜😫🙄

Probably so. Sure glad I'm not raising kids these days!

No kidding, Carol, pardon the pun!🤪

I LUV puns! Bring 'em on!

Everything will eventually pass and the world will become better.

I sure hope it happens soon.

Hope things get better soon byes, it can be depressing.
Joe

Yes, Joe, I hope so too

If we let it, Joe! If we LET it!
