You can't lose by taking action

I listened to a teaching that told about a general in the army.

He made often fast decisions and usually they turned out to be great decisions.

One day a soldier went to ask him about it,

"How did you make that decision so quickly? You didin't probably have the all the information but you still made a decision. Why don't you first gather the knowledge and then make decisions."

The general replied,

"I'll never have all the information. At this point, I had 2 options and my choice was the best anyhow.

Because even if it turns out to be wrong, we learn from it and then we can go with the option B. But if we wouldn't have taken any action right now, we would still be pondering after hours what should we make."

Of course, this example doesn't apply to all situations.

But I think it still applies to 90% of the situations.

Most of the time, you don't need all the information to make decisions. You just need to make some decision and move forward with it.

Even if that was a wrong, you will succeed faster than the guy who keps on pondering what to do.

Take action

If you take action, only 2 things can happen.

You will succeed or fail.

If you succeed immediately, you do more of it.

If you fail, you get smarter and try again.

Therefore, you can't lose by taking action.

You can only lose by NOT taking action.

Why do I share this?

Well, this applies to many aspects of life...

And there are many applications with your online business too.

I see many people starting here and then pondering if they are doing things right because they're not getting enough results.

Most of the time I see that the most important thing they should do is just to put one foot in front of the other and do more things.

Even if you would make a few mistakes at the beginning, you'll be far ahead compared to the person who just keeps on dwelling if he's doing everything right.

Eventually, you'll be paid on the things that you actually do and the results you get.

Of course, stopping to analyze is good every now and then take action based on that. But my guess is that in most cases the problem is not the lack of analysis but actually the lack of taking action.

Take action every. single. day.

PS.

Have you been stopped by the "Analysis paralysis"? (over-thinking)

What tips do you share for those who think too much but should do more?

I'd love to hear from you so maybe I can apply your tips too! ;-)

I am not a salesman selling what I want to sell.

I help and encourage others to find what they need especially with my own quotes.

Scariest thing in any business adventure or in life sometimes is the actual do part...Thomas Edison I believe is one of great example ...look how many times he continued to develop the light bulb.
We have to do. Anything less then do is a wish.

Yes taking action is often the scariest but also the most rewarding thing :)

Agree Roope. I have a tendency to be a perfectionist. But Im editing later too. So far, no major clangers. So Im pushing ahead at a relatively brisk pace. If I make an error I can use the edit button!

I see. Think perfectionism can be good in a way of always wanting to improve things. But if it's holding back from taking action and moving forward it can be quite harmful for business.
