The person you SEE is the person you will BE!

At some point, I used to listen to a lot of teaching from Brian Tracy. One of the most powerful principles that stuck in my mind from Tracy is the following:

"The person you see is the person you will be."

What kind of image do you have about yourself? => This single question will “make or break” your life.

Now we are not talking about what kinds of people you see even though surrounding yourself with the right people is crucially important as well.

We are talking about what kind of self-image you have about yourself.

2 Opposites: Choose Wisely!

If you see yourself as a failure, guess how you will act?

You will...

  • Not take action
  • Make excuses
  • Etc.

However, let’s turn this around.

What if you see yourself as a successful person that achieves everything you set your mind to? Are you going to act differently based on this difference in your self-image?

When you see yourself as a successful person and a high achiever, you do the necessary things to succeed.

  • Take action consistently
  • Make sacrifices if necessary
  • Find the way even if there seems to be no way
  • Learn the skills
  • Get up again and again
  • Etc.

World’s most famous high performance coach, Tony Robbins, teaches,

“Human beings have a huge need to stay consistent to their identity.” And that is absolutely true.

I’ve noticed that if I’m feeding myself with thoughts such as, “I can’t do this now. I’m not good enough. Others are better…” that becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy and I start acting on that.

The good news is that it also works in a positive direction.

Sometimes I pump myself up, hit the chest and shout out, “I’m ready! Let’s do this!”

And I start getting things done like a machine. Later I contemplate how I was so productive.

It all starts with your mind.

Make It a Positive Spiral

This is what happens to some "smart kids" at school. Let's call this kid "John" for example.

  1. Parents encourage John to study well and be diligent.
  2. The kid reads studies well and gets good grades.
  3. John's teachers say positive things about him.
  4. John starts thinking that he is smart because he's getting good grades and teachers say it to him too.
  5. John studies well for the next exam because that's what smart kids should do, right?
  6. John gets good grades again.
  7. John's parents are proud of him and say that he's really smart.
  8. Now John's parents and teachers have said he's smart. In addition, he has got good grades from exams. He thinks that he's really smart and acts accordingly.
  9. Whenever he gets challenges, he does everything to find out the solution quickly because he identifies himself as "smart" and that's what smart people do.
  10. John gets more and more good results that reinforce the thinking.
  11. Etc.

I have seen this happening many times in real life.

On the other hand, the same works also in the opposite direction but you can stop the negative spiral once you become aware of it and consciously change it.

Here's a basic formula:

  1. Believe that you are smart and you'll get great results.
  2. Take action towards your goal and act until you get those results.
  3. Once you get the great results, you have "proof" for yourself that you are smart. Now the belief becomes even stronger
  4. You take even more action.
  5. Now you get even better results.
  6. The belief becomes again stronger.
  7. You take more and more action.
  8. Your belief becomes stronger and stronger.

When I have talked to high achievers, usually all of them are exceptionally confident that they know their craft really well.

Of course, some people want to show up as humble but deep down they know how to do things. They have results, actions and beliefs to back it up. That's what you and I want to aim for as well.

Homework for You

This is my homework to you today:

Analyze your thoughts today very closely.

What kind of story are you feeding about yourself?

How do you see yourself?

Then keep feeding yourself with empowering thoughts.

I can fully guarantee that this will have a huge positive impact on your online business in the long term. And not only on your online business but on your life in general.

Remember:

The person you see is the person you will be.

It's Your Time!

THE MAN IN THE GLASS
When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day Just go to the mirror and look at yourself And see what that man has to say.

For it isn't your Father or Mother or wife Whose judgment upon you must pass. The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life Is the one staring back from the glass.

Some people may call you a straight shooting chum And call you a wonderful guy, but the man in the glass says you're only a bum If you can't look him straight in the eye.

He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest
For he's with you clear to the end, And you have passed your most dangerous test If the man in the glass is your friend.

You may face the whole world down the pathway of life
And get pats on the back when you pass,
But your final reward will be heartache and strife If you've cheated the man in the glass.

Thanks Roope. Another fab post with lots of great content.

Was watching John Assaraf on YouTube today and he was saying that besides the Laws of Attraction, he uses the GOYA mindset - Get Off Your Ass.

You can have lots of confidence in your abilities and a great self image, but if you don't do something about it then you aren't going to get anywhere.

Habit can be a big barrier to success. If you aren't in the habit of working online every day, it's easy to get sidetracked with domestic chores and things that really could wait for another day.

Thanks again for all your amazing work here at WA.

I ran into a real snag about a month and a half ago that partially crippled me. Now I'm recovering, but still not up to full speed. The problem was that I went from feeling pretty sure of myself to wondering if my self-belief was uncalled-for. Finally learned that the whole thing was caused by a misunderstanding, but it has cost me lost time, focus, and forward movement. Finally coming back out of the slump. You are so right! You have to start by believing in yourself and your abilities.

Hello FKelso,
Trust you are well.
Keep keeping on.
I know you can do this.

Take care and be safe

I agree Roope. Mindset is everything to do with success.
For many though, the ‘I am not good enough’ is deeply ingrained and they struggle without knowing why.
A post like this helps people to realise that they can change, become more positive and get the mindset of success.
Great post.

Thanks for sharing Linda!
