SECRET to a higher Engagement - Talk to 1 person

Today I wanted to share you a "secret" that works extremely well.

When I got started with email marketing, I used a very formal and "professional" language within my emails.

That may work for some industries but if you are doing email marketing as an individual person or a small company, that's a big mistake.

The same also applies to your blog posts or YouTube videos.

People hate to deal with big, faceless corporations and robotic customer servants.

They want to hear from real human beings just like you and me.

Using too formal language within your blog posts or emails alienates you from the readers.

When you are writing using everyday language, your readers, subscribers and followers will be able to relate with you and they'll be happier to read your content.

Once, I didn't proofread the headline of my email and there was a spelling mistake. I had written one word completely wrong.

And guess what!

That email rate got the highest open and response rate that I had ever got so far!

I think that's another proof why you shouldn't aim for "perfection" with your online business because perfection simply doesn't exist.

As they teach in Facebook to their employees, "Done is better than perfect."

My recommendation is that you think about a typical person that is your email subscriber.

Then write your email in a way that you would write it just to this 1 person.

Even though you would have 10,000's of subscribers on your list, each of them are going to read your email alone.

You are not writing to masses, you are writing to individual human beings that breath the same air and eat the same bread as you do.

Also, keep this same principle in mind when you are writing your blog posts, creating YouTube videos or creating any kind of content.

Write in a way that you would talk to a single person and avoid too formal language.

At least, this idea has helped me so I hope it helps you as well :)

All the best to you my friend and thank you for reading!

I wrote my first blog post as an academical article LOL.
Now I try to write like I'm talking and even make it kind of interactive, sometimes asking open questions or using humor.
You know what I mean, right?
:-)
I'm not a funny person, it doesn't go easily for me.. Arghhh..
Like this..

This is very true. I used to do phone marketing for an engineering company. I was surrounded by highly qualified engineers who just couldn't find and hold a telephone lead. I used to call and make the initial contact using my "down to earth and not too bright" voice and it worked. People would engage with me and I would then pass it on to the clever people, 😉. Kind regards Mike

Yeah. I was recently listening to teaching from a successful YouTuber and a multi-millionaire Graham Stephan. He also taught that we should create the videos and content in a way that even a 5th grader would understand.

Some viewers are smarter than that but some people are not so if we want to gain more audience, it's better to make the message very clear and simple.

Thanks for great advice, it is true, I enjoy reading the more personal sounding emails I receive even though I know thousands of people are getting the same email.

👍👍

So great advice from you as always. Thanks a lot!

Hi Roope. I have recently also found it easier to write content if I added a casual atmosphere to the post.

I get my posts done faster in such a way.

I've noticed the same. Instead of trying to be too formal and use the "perfect language", the text borns faster by just writing it.

Great advice.

Thanks my friend!
