If You Don't pay, You Don't Pay Attention
I have been a "freebie-seeker" before.
And I must admit that I still have a little bit tendency towards that because of my old nature...
However, nowadays I'm much happier to pay for the training and education than ever before.
I've learned that investing your own money into something, will also help you to commit yourself to actually go through the training and apply it in practice.
That's one of the MANY reasons why I recommend for everyone here to upgrade to the premium membership instead of just using the free starter account.

I learned this "wisdom" recently from a successful entrepreneur.
Just think about it: How many members who just use the free account are really COMMITTED to make a life-changing income online?
Not many.
Of course, people are not here just for the money that Wealthy Affiliate will help them to make. People are here also because they want to learn skills like:
- Build websites
- Get more influence online
- Do social media marketing
- Learn Internet marketing
- Learn SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
- Network with other Internet marketers
- Etc.
But if a person is not ready to invest even a measly $1 per day, how committed do you think he/she really is?
Personally, I've gone through lots of free and paid training courses, watched 100's of videos, webinars, etc.
I can say that on average I pay much more attention when I have needed to pay some money for that.
And based on my and other's observations, people who are willing to invest some money are much more committed on average and are going to take more action.

Life is all about averages and probabilities.
You may study all the books and courses in the world and still not become a millionaire (for example). But your changes of becoming a millionaire are probably 100 times higher than for a person who never studies anything.
You may smoke for 40 years and not get a cancer but your probabilities for getting a lung cancer have gone much higher.
You may eat salads every day and your friend eats pizzas. The chances are that you have a much healthier body.
When you invest in a premium membrship in Wealthy Affiliate, your chances of succeeding online are at least 10 times better than just going with the free.

I say this from experience of being here a premium for 4 years, achieving some great results myself and seeing 1,000's of other members here coming and going.
Those who go premium, and especially use the yearly memberhsip, are MUCH more likely to achieve great things than those who are just looking for "freebies".
Therefore I have 2 friendly recommendations to you:
- Upgrade to Premium (if you still had a free membership when you are reading this)
- Upgrade to a Yearly Premium Membership (if you just had a monthly membership so far. You'll save tons of money and also increase your chances of success by being committed.)

So true, WA's Premium Membership is so worth it. Speaking of worth, you can take advantage of annual discounts and get the monthly fee down to $30/month and perhaps even below if you take advantage of a Black Friday Special ($299/annual paid in advance). That's just $25/month - so affordable - just skip a dinner out once a month.
I could not agree more. I had this exact discussion with my wife not two days ago and even considered writing a post on it. Well, you beat me to it. lol
Here is a perfect example: I get several requests a week from members asking my advice on what is wrong with their site. Being the good-natured, helpful guy that I am, I try and give them the time. And many of them do (I'm looking at you @Cherry21... you're crushing it!) :-)
But, I've had more than one that I spent several HOURS going over their site in painstaking detail, making notes, page by page, post by post. I send them my "report" and I get gushing replies of "thank-you", "you're the greatest", "I'm so excited I can't stop giggling", and "I'm on fire and about to take my business to the next level". And then...
Nothing. Zip. Zero. Nada. They don't change a thing, don't take any advice I gave, and keep churning out crap post after crap post just like before.
And the icing on the cake is that a few months later, I see these same people asking the same questions, asking for the same advice, and griping about how they aren't having any success. It's mind-blowing to me.
And yet, do you know who does listen? Do you know who does make changes? Do you know who is on "fire" and taking their business to the next level? The non-WA people I charge hundreds of dollars to do the exact same thing with.

Yeah, bigger payment often creates a bigger commitnent. That's one of the reasons why I think that WA should have more expensive membership options. The value of the premium is anyway 10 times more and many busjnesses charge so much more than WA does.
I agree (just don't tell Kyle we feel that way... we're getting a real bargain right now, you and I.) lol
I remember Tony Robbins said in a seminar one time that is one of the reasons he charges so much for personal coaching. If you wanted a one-on-one with him, at the time he was charging $10,000 per hour and you had to be on a waiting list for up to 9 months.
He said it wasn't because he was greedy or didn't want to help. It was because if you paid that much money and waited that long to get in, you walked in the door with leverage and were massively motivated to change. His success rate with clients? 100%. :-)
Exactly! I have been asked to proofread articles "as a favour" that were so poorly written I practically rewrote them. If they pay attention and ask questions for future reference then I don't mind. But, as you say, to see them carry on making careless mistakes is very annoying.

Different perspective:
First thing, paying for something causes you to have a vested interest in what you've paid for. Your thinking how hard you had to work to get this money. So forth and so on.
But, sometimes old habits die hard. I think for the those who are committed,it really depends upon the person.
Meaning, you give advice to someone and they don't take it. Makes you wonder if they are being serious about this.
And of course, you don't want anyone wasting you time. I get it completely.
Having said that, it may not be their time. Meaning, wherever they are in their lives. The situation isn't bad enough to get them to focus and follow through.
Change only happens when you've reached your limit. I am definitely a testament to that.
When a person is ready for something hell nor high water will stop them.
Now you might say if you don't think your ready then why sign up? Unfortunately, some people are slower at things. You don't know until you know.
One or two things is going to happen:
1. These people will eventually get tired of paying and quit
or
2. Get focused and be serious about what they are doing
Either way you have done all you can do. If no one appreciate your help to bad for them. I appreciate your help.

Totally agree...you cannot go downtown and think you are going to run a successful business without a plan and the right tools. If your not willing to invest in your business then you probably already feel like you are not going to make it.
That's true! With the freebie we easily give ourselves a way out. But if we pay for something, then we want to "get all benefit out of it".

It has to be $1 at least.
But anyways, it's true, when we pay money only then we give some value.
I've been procrastinating to watch some WAbinars, as they are free. If I'd have paid $100 for them, I might have watched them all within a week, lol😄

Yes, most people don't want to pay $49 per month to something they have joined for free. 🙂
