If you are a woman, I've got AWESOME NEWS FOR YOU!

You may have heard something like "man's $1 is woman's $0,80" meaning that men are getting paid more than women.

But today the tables have turned...

Making Money Online Is Easier for Women Than for Men!

Now before you jump into the comment section, read this through carefully. Okay? :)

I have been creating and consuming YouTube videos for the last 2-3 years basically every single day on topics such as:

  • Making money online
  • Internet marketing
  • Affiliate marketing
  • Cryptocurrencies
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Etc.

During that time, I have seen hundreds of different YouTube channels. Some smaller ones and some larger ones.

But there is one common theme that I have noticed basically among ALL of those hundreds of channels.

YouTube channels with female content creators get ALWAYS at least 2-5 times more subscribers than similar channels with male content creators.

Let me just give you 3 quick examples. You can also verify this by yourself.

1. Crypto Tips (created by a woman)

  • 2,6 million views.
  • 53,5k subscribers.

2. Vincent Briatore Crypto (created by a man)

  • Over 3,7 million views
  • 38,4k subscribers

You can see that even though Vincent has much more views, he has almost two times less subscribers.

Isn't that interesting?

The best example of this phenomenon was 1-2 years ago a YouTube channel called Crypto Chick. She was a very attractive woman and posted around 5 videos on her channel and got immediately around 30k subscribers.

An unfortunate detail is that she was promoting a scam but that doesn't change the fact that making money on YouTube is so much easier for women.

Let's take another example:

1. Marissa Romero (woman)

  • 1 million views
  • 47,6k subscribers

2. Benji's Dad (also a member at Wealthy Affiliate and my friend)

  • Much over 1,2 million views
  • 37k subscribers

Now you might be saying, "Well, the difference is not so big in this example. Marissa doesn't have 2-3 times more subscribers than Chris (Benji's Dad)."

The reason for that is that the quality of Chris' videos is much higher than Marissa's videos.

If the quality of their videos would be the same, the difference in subscribers would be much bigger.

But even though Chris' videos are higher quality, you can still see that Marissa got almost 1,5 times more subscribers.

1. Tanya J. Joseph (woman)

  • 27k subscribers

2. My Channel (man)

  • 8,7k subscribers

(Sidenote: I removed my name Roope Kiuttu from my channel today to test if it affects to the amount of people who subscribe.)

Again, a typical scenario.

=> More or less the same amount of views and a woman has 3 times more subscribers.

You Can Verify This Information By Yourself

If you are thinking, "Hey Roope! You just hand-picked some channels to prove your point. It's not always like that."

Well, I challenge you.

Show me.

I have seen hundreds of YouTube channels and as I said, women basically ALWAYS have more subscribers.

And I didn't hand-pick these channels.

I just randomly took some channels that have more or less the same amount of views and all of them proved my point right => Making money online is easier for women!

Is the Subscriber Amount Important?

Well, it's not the most important metric but you need to understand the following:

When you have more subscribers,

=> YouTube promoters your content to more people

=> More people will see your content and you will get more views

More views

= More sales (= more $$$)

= More YouTube ad revenue (= more $$$)

= Even more subscribers (that leads eventually to even more $$$)

It's like a positive cycle.

Does This Also Apply on Other Platforms Outside of YouTube?

Yes, it's easier to make money for women also on other platforms.

I have the most experience of YouTube so there I can say this information for 100% sure.

Based on my knowledge of other platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Wealthy Affiliate...) this seems to apply as well.

Good news for you if you are a woman! ;-)

How Can You Benefit from This Information?

Okay, so now we know the fact that it's easier for women to get subscribers and followers on YouTube and social media platforms.

How can you benefit from this information?

It's simple.

=> Don't hide behind the screen/text, show your face.

If you are reading text on the Internet, it doesn't have a gender. It's just text.

But if you see a video or a picture, you can see whether there's a man or a woman.

Showing your face in general builds trust online, no matter your gender...

But if you are a woman, you will also get 2-5 times more followers than a man simply by showing your face.

You might also be aware of some "dirty tactics" that some marketers are using (=showing more skin than it's appropriate). I don't recommend such dirty tactis in any way. Such behavior doesn't gain any respect or trust. It just ruins the reputation and integrity.

Showing your face is enough to have a competitive advantage as a woman over men online.

What About Men?

Should we fall in despair because of the fact that it's easier for women to make money online than for men?

No.

We just accept this fact and move on.

Or you can even find creative ways to use this information to your advantage...

That's very interesting. Will keep this in mind when I start with YouTube. Thanks Roope.

I think I need to have an alternate character as well - Florentina

Well that does Roope. I'm changing my profile. Jim (PS. My name is now Jami)

Hehe! By the way, Jami is in my home country a man's name! ;)

I think it is more a matter of how you present yourself and what you have to say over whether you are a male or female. Obviously people are attracted to people that resonate with them...

They also are attracted to success. We all want it, are working to achieve it, and if there is someone that projects that across the mediums (whether via video, via published content, or through the spoken word) we are all ears...

Each person has to evaluate where their strengths lie and then leverage these to the maximum extent possible while using their EQ to maneuver through the noise that is out there to be recognized.

Particularly in the Make Money Online niche, it can be hard to get your message out, as the field is crowded with people that have achieved various levels of success and they are people who have some experience to a lot of experience.

My advice would be to be yourself in all cases, whether just starting out or whether you have a multi-million dollar operation. I do not care if you are a male or female.

Done effectively, you will succeed either way.

This starts through having a solid base of ethics, morals, integrity, and not having an aversion to that 4-letter word "work" with all your plans and actions...

Second, developing a system that works for you (whatever shape that might take) is the next step and a good blueprint for success, whether on YouTube or elsewhere.

There is no sense in re-inventing the wheel, so looking at what others are doing is a good place to start, then adapting that to your own strategy and actions to come up with something that works for you is what I would advise (along with staying true to yourself as mentioned above)...

Lastly, a regular and constant review of what you are doing and adapting your actions to current conditions is really important. What worked yesterday may not work today, and likely will not work tomorrow.

This is not true for all things, but most certainly fine-tuning is something that will keep you relevant in the eyes of others. Of course, I would not recommend making changes for the sake of change, rather as indicated and as it fits into your business model and personality...

There is more I could dive down into, but this is a basic outline of what I have seen successful people use to achieve that success...

If everyone here follows these guidelines, they can fly as high as they choose to. Of course, they must also be willing to put in the work to grow and be what they want to be. This applies to all of us, male or female.

I call that sweat equity and very few people get to the top without having invested in a whole bunch of that in themselves/their business.

Here is where I could cite numerous examples, but you already have mentioned a couple, and these are indicative of the point. These people (including yourself) have worked for what they have achieved to now.

Perhaps that is most important...

Knowing the end goal and having the willingness to delay gratification to achieve that goal(s) along with all the other points I mention (and likely more) means that you likely are willing to work to get it done, and reap the benefits later on...

My last thought...

Stats are good, but they mean little unless there are some real and healthy sales figures behind them. I would be worried more about that than the stats.

Good post, good discussion!

Cheers!
Dave : )

Great points Dave! :)

Thanks Dave. Now I feel better. Jim

Hehe...Love that comment...We males have it rough in this business - what to do????

I just did a photo-shoot for my YouTube thumbnails/for my marketing program - a major revamp/refocus for one of my channels/etc...

I need to use logic and persuasiveness because my looks sure ain't gonna do it!! Dang near broke the camera is what the photographer dude told me...What to do???

Cheers!
Dave : )

I agree, on a video I would rather see and hear a womens perspective.

Yeah! :D

I've been on YT more in the last couple of years than in the past and have subscribed to both men's and women's channels. I believe that showing our faces is becoming increasingly more important b/c of all the fake stuff and scams online. We have to have it to build trust and YT lends itself nicely to doing that and getting our message across. That's more incentive for me to get going with my YT channel.

Thanks for your post, Roope! I'll be applying what you've mentioned.
Colleen

Great points Colleen!

This is very interesting info. I must (finally) get on the bandwagon! Like many of us, I don't go on Youtube except to get a tutorial on things I need instruction for but this is something worth getting into.

Thanks for sharing!

Erica

Nice! I believe you'll do great on YouTube!

Well, isn't that interesting?

I must admit, I haven't ventured into YouTube, though I probably should. However, it's nice to know the odds are in my favor.

Yeah, I like YouTube for example because it has less competition than Google search.

Do you put your picture on your videos? Not too excited about showing my face on there.

Yes, I show my face usually on all of my videos. I think it builds more trust.

But you have a cute face...I don't consider myself very photogenic.

I have noticed that women seem to be much better communicators, it seems as if it is part of their nature, they relate well with others much easier than man.
I believe that it is a good thing and we men should try to learn from women that we may communicate better.
I am not too proud to learn from those who have been blessed with the power of communications.
Thanks for sharing Roope.
May you have a blessed week ahead.
Ray

I agree Ray, women are often great communicators and considerate. Men are often more analytical.

Have a great week.

Great information Roope. Very interesting.
Joe

Thanks for reading Joe. I find this somehow super fascinating. :D

Agree Roope.
Joe
