I just got a following badge showing that I've been here a premium member already for 4 years :)

Now I wanted to write this post to you for 2 reasons:

  1. Encourage you to stay here at Wealthy Affiliate for years.
  2. Reveal the biggest mistake that I made and help you to avoid it.

If you find my post helpful and inspiring, share it with all your friends and followers as well :)

Now let's start right away.

Discussion Between 2 Ears: "Will This Work Out?"

Have you ever asked yourself a question, "Will this work out for me? Will I succeed and make money like many others are doing?"

I bet that 99% of the people who are starting are asking themselves that question.

Often I was also thinking about it myself. I was thinking also like this, "If I would be working now in a 9-5 job, I could be earning x and y amount of money. Now my online business is not making me any money yet. What if I am just wasting my time and money here?"

Even though that question might seem reasonable, I think I shouldn't have wasted my time thinking that. And you shouldn't either!

Building a business has in a long run always a MUCH higher earning potential than 9-5 jobs. The main reason is probably because you will get paid based on your results and not based on your time.

When things start working out, you may make in a few sales the same money that you earned in your previous 9-5 job by working a whole month.

If This Has Worked for Someone Else, It Will Work for You

Making money online is like cooking.

With cooking, you follow these steps:

  1. Take a cookbook.
  2. Search for a recipe for a food that you want to eat.
  3. Follow the recipe and do exactly what it says.
  4. You'll have the result / food that you wanted.

With making money online, you simply follow these steps:

  1. Go through the Wealthy Affiliate training and watch Jay's webinars and training from experienced members who have got the results (or any other proven training program).
  2. Follow Kyle's steps and apply what you learn.
  3. Earn the money / get the results that you desire.

Then if there is something you don't understand in the recipe, you go and ask from someone who has already used that recipe. At Wealthy Affiliate, we have +1,900,000 registered members so there's always someone to help you out.

If something is proven to work 1,000's of times, it will also work for you. The world we're living in is predictable.

Put x ingredient in, get x result out.

This is also known as a law of sowing and reaping. I wonder if they teach that to kids at school?

Don't Waste Your Time. Just Take Action!

If I would have accepted from the beginning that these things simply work, I wouldn't have wasted my time pondering if I'm going to succeed or not. Therefore, I would have achieved results much faster.

I've received countless of messages that I have received saying,

  • "Is this Wealthy Affiliate real?"
  • "Will this work for me also?"
  • "I am very slow. I am not if this works for me."

I would say that all these things sound reasonable but in my opinion every second that you spend thinking about those things, you are just holding yourself from achieving success much faster.

Nowadays when I learn something new and try to take my results to the next level, I do my best to avoid thinking whether or not it will work out for me because I know that if it worked for someone else, it will also work for me.

In order to have that certainty, you of course need to have the steps that are PROVEN to work. Here are at Wealthy Affiliate you can be 100% sure that Kyle's training works because it's been working for +14 years and every year there are 100's and probably 1,000's of success stories.

Practical Comparison between 2 Persons

Let's say that there are 2 persons, for example, James and David. Both of them have 10 hours in a week to grow their online business.

James is doubtful and isn't sure if this works or not. He spends half of his time reading blogs, watching videos and researching reviews that simply answer his question, "is it possible to make money online (at Wealthy Affiliate)?"

Then he has 5 hours left for actually building his business but he's still a bit shy because he isn't sure if this works for him.

Then there is David who has the same 10 hours as David. Instead of doubting himself, he sees that countless people have succeeded by following the step-by-step training so he will succeed as well when he puts in the work.

Therefore, David starts taking action right away without any hesitation and spends the whole 10 hours building an online business.

He starts seeing results twice faster than James which makes him even more motivated so he decides to wake up half an hour and stop checking social media all the time earlier which gives him 7 extra hours every week. Now he is making 3,5 times faster progress than James.

Guess who is going to win? James of course because he started take action right away instead of doubting.

Of course, this is a very simplified example but it illustrates one important reason why some people achieve results faster than others.

And again, if someone gets faster results than you do, don't get discouraged but be inspired of the other person's example and feel how he/she lifts you to the next level as well. We're a team here and if other people win, it's great for everyone.

Awesome Roope.

A question though, is your income still going up or is it stagnating?
Are you still making 4 figure consistently?

I’d like to ‘stagnate’ on 4 figures per month tbh. 😏

It grows if I work. It stays stagnant if I am lazy. :D

Hi Roope, thanks for encouragement and the important point you made. It is very true, we just have to focus and follow the recipe.
Thanks again.
Regards, and all success forward.
Wikus.

Thanks Wikus!

Thanks Roope for your motivational article...it's always helpful to get encouraging feedback because you are absolutely right, we all struggle with doubts about not having quicker success, or wondering if this will ever pay off!

Thanks for sharing too Terry! It is also kinda relieving to know that other people had those doubts as well and to know that it's natural.

No problem...thanks again

Hi Roope, I love reading your posts! I take great inspiration from them and very often end up writing based on what you’ve said.

I joined just over 12 months ago and have just reached Active Affiliate status today. That’s nice encouragement too. I get a great buzz every time I hear of someone succeeding at Wealthy Affiliate. I KNOW it works.

I’ll certainly be linking people to your post so they can see what calibre of members we have. They can take great inspiration and realise to Just Do It (it’s good for Nike, so also good for WA too!)

Dave

Happy to hear that you've been here already for +12 months too Dave.

And I recognize a great buzz every time you hear of someone succeeding at Wealthy Affiliate. I feel the same way!

The biggest mistake I made when starting was trying to sell things rather than just helping people solve problems.

Dave

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
Biggest mistake? Taking too much time away on occasion. (I didn't maximize my time well for a while... that has changed)!
Do I plan on staying? YOU BET!!
Shaunna

Thanks! WAnniversary ;)

Great to hear that you're planning to stay a long time here.

Hi Roopie,
About the only thing I seem to waste time at is trying to figure out how to do something. I'm at a place where everything seems to be insurmountable. I'm sure everybody gets to that point. I don't know if I will be here 4 years from now but I intend on staying as long as it takes to make a success of this.
Everybody should make that commitment and thank you for having such an upbeat attitude and sharing it.

Thanks for sharing Barbara. I feel that if you are actively trying to do something new and learning about it, that's not a waste of time.

Often for example technical issues may feel like a waste of time because it may be that someone else gets them faster but every minute that you spend learning those things, you get better at it and sooner or later you'll master it.

That's how I've figured it out since before I got frustrated with some technical stuff but nowadays I keep on reminding myself that every step takes me further in the process, if it's something important and must be done in order to get to the next level.

Hi Roope,

Happy WA Anniversary.

I joined WA as a free member in 2017 and just browsed for a few weeks. I then spent the best part of 2 years looking around the web for "other" ideas.
In Jan this year I went premium and started learning and working.

SO - Yes I really lost 18 months with my thumb stuck where the sun doesn't shine!

Best Regards
Mike

Ouch! But glad to hear that you've come back here! :) I've heard a similar story from several other members too.

Same! But now that I truly believe it will work if I put the work in, all my free time goes in my business! My first goal is to leave my 9 to 5 job to work full time online !

I'm so glad to hear that you're committed and I am sure that you will be able to leave your 9 to 5 job sooner or later when you keep on building an online business!

hello WA members

Hello Eric :)

Yes... same mistake

Thank you for,sharing
❤️

Thanks for sharing too ! I guess it's pretty common.

What made it really shift for you?
