#1 Reason People Fail to Make Money Online (+SOLUTION!)

I have been pondering this question recently A LOT:

"What's the #1 reason why do some people fail to make money online even if they wanted it? What do those people do differently who succeed?"

Of course, one reason is that some people simply prefer ordinary 9-5 jobs but now I'm not talking about that.

I'm talking about a situation when 2 persons start their "make money online journeys". Then another one of them succeeds and another one fails. What's the #1 difference?

Since you are reading this blog post in Wealthy Affiliate, the chances are that you are also on this "make money online journey" so this is a very relevant topic for you and it might be a good idea to pay very close attention ;)

I will also give you my SOLUTION to this issue.

By the way, this same process can be applied to achieving almost ANY goal. In this case, we're just specifically talking about making money online but you can use the same principle for achieving other things in life too.

But before I give you the #1 reason, I think it's wise to go through what is NOT the main problem.

1) "I Come from a Wrong Country..."

It's true that people from different countries start their lives from different backgrounds. Everyone does not have the access to the same things from the beginning.

However, that should never be your excuse for not living your full potential.

You can always find plenty of examples of people coming from much worse backgrounds than you come from and achieving extraordinary things.

Even here in the Wealthy Affiliate community, we have people from all parts of the world making a living online:

• Europe
• America
• Africa
• Asia
• Australia
• Etc.

If talking about the background in general... In the world, are even people without hands or legs, such as Nick Vujicic, who are achieving greatness. If you have both hands and both legs, you are blessed and you have all the potential in the world.

2) "I'm Too Young..."

I think the youngest person that I saw making money online on one podcast was 11 years old. Then there are some YouTubers who have made millions who are even less than 10 years old.

In most such cases their parents must have supported the start but could you ask for support from parents too? If your parents don't want to help, is there any other adult that could support you?

If you are over 18 years old, the young age excuse doesn't work anymore in any way because you can get access to everything.

3) "I Don't Know What to Do..."

This might be a reason for not starting but it's still not a reason for failing to make money online, especially if you are in Wealthy Affiliate ;)

Not knowing what to do is rarely the MAIN reason.

An example from another area of life illustrates this well... Everyone knows how to be fit & healthy. Exercise minimum 3-4 times a week, eat healthy and sleep 7-8 hours per night. Then how many people actually do that? Definitely not everyone.

Studies say that 91% of the people who buy online courses never finish them. So, it's not a matter of not knowing what to do.

I may show 2 people the process of making money click-by-click... Another person follows through but another person doesn't. So, what's the #1 reason??? Let's continue.

4) "I Don't Have Any Skills/Experience..."

Welcome to the club. Every single person starts with 0 skills and 0 experience. Then you just start the process of learning.

Not having skills is obviously not a good reason for not succeeding because everyone can acquire skills.

5) "I Don't Have Any Money..."

Because you are reading this article on the Internet, it means that you have at least access to the Internet, right?

And if you have access to the Internet, you can start making money even for 100% free. Then you can slowly build up things from there.

Again, we could probably come with a million examples of people starting with less money/resources than you have right now but ending up with great success... If there are such examples, it's possible for you too.

#1 Reason + SOLUTION

None of the things that I listed above are really valid reasons for not making money online if that's the goal because you can find plenty of examples of people who make money even with all those backgrounds and much more.

#1 reason for failing is simply NOT TAKING ENOUGH ACTION.

Now some people might attack immediately and say, "Heyy!! I am taking action but I'm not taking money! That's not true!"

Let me ask a couple of questions from you. If you have been taking action, have you...

1. learned something new?
2. made some progress?
3. got new insights?
4. learned what doesn't work?

If you answer, "Yes." to any of those questions, it means that you are on the right track and you simply need to take more action.

When we have a goal and we take action towards that goal, we hardly can move backwards, right? You may not reach the goal immediately after taking the first action but each action that you take moves you closer to your goal.

Why Don't People Take Action? + SOLUTION

I have been reflecting this a lot, observing myself and other people and listening to teachings from experts.

People may call the reason for not taking action with different names but I think eventually it comes down to not having big enough reasons for taking actions.

Let me illustrate this a bit more.

People don't take action IF...

• they don't see the end goal clearly.
• the end result is not important enough for them.
• reasons for not taking action are bigger than the rewards for achieving the goal.

People do take action IF...

• they see the end result clearly.
• they are committed to the goal = giving up is not even an option.
• their reasons for taking action are big.

When I look at some successful people it seems like nothing can stop them. They simply do the work and bounce back again and again.

Think about ANY goal that you have achieved during your life. 2 questions:

1. Did you see that end result beforehand?
2. Were you committed to getting that result?

Of course, some things in life happen "by accident" or we feel like we're guided. But 99,99% of the time you don't become successful by accident. You need to do something consciously.

I suggest that you do the following:

Do This Immediately:

In this post, I've been mainly talking about making money online but I want to remind you that you can use this process to other things too.

1) Make your end result as clear as possible.

The clearer your end result is, the easier it will be to achieve it. Often it helps if you write it down so it feels even more tangible.

However, you don't want that your goal is just forgotten on a piece of paper on an old notebook or on some lost file on Google Docs. You'll want that your goal is crystal clear in your mind.

In an optimal situation, if someone comes to ask, "what's your goal?" you can come up with an immediate answer because you know it so well.

In addition, you don't want only to write down some number,s for example, "I will earn x amount of dollars per month online." Writing that down is fine but it's better to spend time dwelling on the impact it will have on your life.

Here are just some ideas:

• How will it feel? Will you feel thankful? Will you feel blessed? Will you feel confident? Think about the feelings that you'll have when achieving that goal.
• What kind of impact it has on different areas of your life? Your family, your physical health, etc.
• Will it affect your environment? Will you live in the same place or will you move to a different place?
• Will it affect the impact that you can do in the world? Can you support worthy projects more? Can you show a better example for other people through your actions?

In a nutshell,

You want to see the result happening with your inner eyes. You want to see it so clearly that it feels real.

In fact, that's how everything is built. Look at the buildings around you. Look at ANY of the famous attractions. Someone saw them beforehand with their inner eyes. Otherwise, those buildings wouldn't exist today and we would still live in caves.

2) Commit that you will take action UNTIL you get the result.

If we are talking about making money online, we are actually talking about something quite ordinary. Some estimates say that there will be over 1 BILLION digital nomads in 2030. It means that ordinary people are doing it.

It's not something like trying to run the marathon in 2,5 hours or climbing to Mount Everest. Those are extraordinary things. Making money online is an ordinary thing. It's more like running 10 kilometres or hiking one weekend in your local hills if we like to compare on how common some things are.

That makes achieving your goal of making money online obviously much easier than some other goals that you may set for yourself.

3) Make sure that you have BIG REASONS to achieve your goal

This probably comes already in step 1 when you realize how your life will positively change but you really want to make sure that your reasons are HUGE.

Because when your reasons for taking action are BIG, REAL, TANGIBLE and LIFE-CHANGING, there is simply nothing that can stop you.

The pain of not taking action becomes unbearable because you know that by taking action you could achieve so much more.

If You Move Towards Something, It Comes Closer to You

Let's say that your goal is to go from New York to Los Angeles. When you take your first step towards Los Angeles, you have come closer to that goal immediately.

If you hop on your bike, you can speed up your process of getting to Los Angeles a lot.
If you hop on a car, you'll get to your goal even faster.
If you hop on a plane, you'll reach your goal today.

But even if you wouldn't be using the plane, you'll get there eventually if you simply keep on moving to that direction. Even by bike you'd get there eventually. You'd just need to rest sometimes and continue your trip.

The only way to fail to go from New York to Los Angeles is simply to stop your trip.

The same thing happens with your goals.

If you do enough things that takes you closer to your goal, you'll eventually get there. It's inevitable. That's simply how the life on the Earth works.

Here are a couple of things that you can do to take you there:

1. Learn how other people did it.
2. Do similar things that they have done.
3. Once you are doing something, analyze what is working for you and do more of that.

Then repeat that process over and over again. The natural consequence is that you'll get closer to your goal every day.
