Just completed Lesson 10 of Level 3 training for the second time and a lightning bolt has struck me! I have completed Level 2 Training (Building Your Own Traffic Producing Website) twice and I have 3 websites, BUT no, or litle, traffic. There is no sense to creating Affiliate Programs when I have NO TRAFFIC! So it is back to the drawing board and some new objecttives.

I found it difficult to give comments at first - overwhelmed ? Very much - I came up with a strategy - I give comments on WA early in the morning.

I break it up, sometimes I give comments from 7 -8
9-10 or 11-12 for the latest. In the evening I am hopeless at doing anything on my website my lights go out. See what works for you

Thanks for the idea. I usually get up at 5 and go through comments first thing.

Good afternoon Roger,

Your problem is a very common one most of us have. We try all different things to see if more people come and read what we write about.
I started on Pinterest in Feb. this year. It did increase the visitors on my websites but these people do not leave a comment, a real shame.
Up till now, the best system is giving 2 comments to then get one back, this WA system works well.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Hi Taetske,

Nice to hear from you again. I do have a collection of photos on Pinterest but haven't used it to increase traffic to my sites. Will have to do so, once I get my head around 'Keywords'.

Thanks for your comment,
Roger

Good Morning Roger,

When I have a new post on my website I now make a Pinterest pin and put the link to the post, that also helps.
I remember your website well, I think it is a very nice one.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Will do that in the future.

Thank you, Roger, for sharing!
I too struggle with traffic or lack thereof.
I have also restarted some of the training, which has proven beneficial for me, picked up on some missed pieces from the first go round.
But I also feel that I am heading in the right direction and have no plans of giving up. Patience and perseverance are what I try to practice on this wonderful journey of WA.
Wishing you the best of success!
Randi

It's comforting to know that others are having the same challenge.

Very frustrating, are you publishing your posts on Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Roger? Best Alan

Hi Alan,
If I create a post in WA Site Content I can only post it on one URL from the Site Content work site. If I try it gives a message the second time that it is duplicate content and can not be posted. A person could always cut and paste but then Google my be able to determine the same thing and I don't want either WA or Google upset with me.

In short I think it means I may be able to publish links to the same post on on different social media, but no the same content. I could be totally wrong about this so lets try to find the right answer.

Roger

After you create on WA Site Content, Publish it, and you can finish it on Wordpress. Once you have your url there, you can take it anywhere on the net you want including Social Media. You might want to concentrate on one site, get it up and attracting visitors, and conversions, then work on your other one, then your third one.
Hope that helps. Tom

Hi Tom,
Thanks a million for your reply. I have made specific notes and will follow your directions as close as possible. After creating the content on WA Site Content, where do you publish it first? Where and what do you mean by "finish it on word press"?

I will definitely focus on one site and it may be a new one. Plans are to complete bootcamp and work on a new site to attract potential Affiliate Marketers to the program here. I have been told there are not enough potential customers for a family history site.

Regards,
Roger

Hi Roger, when you are on Site Content, you can publish right there. If it tells you it is duplicate content, it gives you the option to override it. In other words, publish it anyway. From there go to the Edit on Wordpress button, and you can finish your post, if needed on Wordpress. In other words, add pictures, add affiliate links, or anything else you may determine it needs, or you may need to do nothing. My experience is I always need to add some things to my post before I submit it to Social Media.
A genealogy site? I don't know. There are a lot of people interested in that. I for one. There is a guy here at WA that has one, an English guy, Andrew Bromley, abromley, that may be able to give you some insight there. Let me know if you have other questions. Tom

Will try to connect with Andrew. A Family website may be personally satisfying, but the limit number of prospective clients may result in a poor site for affiliate marketing.

I will be trying to edit in wordpress in the near future.

I was able to connect with Andrew and he helped me a lot. My family history site is not broad enough to attract enough interested clients as it is. I will have to make Family tree and history education a priority in order to attract a wider clientele.

Glad to hear it Roger.

That is correct. Never post the exact same thing. Write something a bit different on each site.

For me, it's not about the money. I am in this to learn the ins and outs of website creation.

I am a premium member and have been for some time. I have a vision for one or two of my websites and I believe that vision will materialize someday. And once I reach my vision, I may discover that my efforts will pay me back many times over.

In my opinion, there is not a better place on the Internet for learning the skills of website creation than here at WA.

I am retired and have the luxury of working on my websites 24/7 if I wanted to. I also have retirement income, so that allows me to enjoy the benefits of patience.

I noticed that you do not list your website on your profile page, so it would be difficult for me or anyone else to offer additional advice.

Hi Eric,
We are similar in that we are supposed to be retired and here to follow our passions more than to make money.

I too have the vision of being while rewarded for what I enjoy doing.

I was shocked to read that you couldn't find my 3 websites on my profile page. They don't show up on this page, but you should see them on my profile page. If you don't please get back to me and I will be putting URL 's here. I know we are not suppose to, but quite often I see i being done.

You can reach my main website by just typing in humbke and the most common ending 'com' preceded by a dot.

I would be honored if you would take a look at all three sites and make some comments.
Very Best to you,
Roger

I would definitely check into this course

Eric Thanks for making me aware of this video by Jay on May 27, 2018. I have been watching most of his videos but missed this one. Have made a note to watch this month.
Regards,
Roger

Are you requesting comments from WA members through Site Comments? This is the best way to start the traffic flowing in my opinion. You get multiple benefits from this.
1) You get traffic to your site.
2) You get comments on your site.
3) Both of these (in this case the comments more so) help increase your rank in Google which in turn will bring more traffic.
4) You get the benefit of connecting with other WA members who may be able to help you.

It really helped me get new posts off the ground.

My second suggestion is to start posting on Quora. I don't think most social media is worth it when we are starting out. Most are a total waste of time at that stage. Quora may be a help however depending on how much you have up on your site already.

You just answer questions there and add a link to your appropriate website post in the answer. Make sure you actually write a real answer, don't just post the link.

I get more traffic from Quora than any other social media for the amount of time spent.

Wow I never considered Quora. Thanks for share!

I am sure from the likes that everyone who takes the time to read your comments appreciate what you have to say.

1. With regard to Site Comments, I haven't figured out if the is for blogs and web sites or only web sites, but have made a note to do so. I really like the Site Content tool when I create either a blog or a Web site post.

I do have content that is appropriate for both a WA blog and a Website page/post, but when I try to do it on both my WA blog and one of my sites, I am always stopped for being duplicate content.

2. I enjoy reading questions and answers on Quora, but seldom participate. It i definitely my loss and I will become more involved especially since I can insert a link along with a reasonable answer

Thank you Jessica for your very informative comment to this Blog.

Regards,
Roger Humbke.

Site Comments are for comments on you website posts. It has nothing to do with your posts here. Your posts here should not be the same as those on your site.

I was amazed at how much getting comments there helped my website posts gain higher ranking in Google and the other search engines.

You are most welcome Roger.

I really need to start using Quora more. I do have an account there, but I've been using it more to read questions and answers rather than answering questions myself. I did look a few days ago to see how many questions there are in a particular product I talk a lot about on my website and I was surprised to see quite a lot of questions.

The more I see others here getting actively involve in Quora the more I am motivated to join the group.

Thanks for the nodge, Defiant6

Yes, you can look for questions about the specific product or for the problems people have that the product can fix. So, I may look for questions about tooth and gum disease in dogs and cats in order to tell people about the great supplement I use. They have likely never heard of the product so I would have to find other ways to reach them. Or if it is a very popular product I can look for questions about the product by name.

I was happy to see when I add answers I can get traffic from them weeks later. It isn't like Twitter or Facebook where you need to post every single day. Of course if you did that you would get even more traffic however.

Pm'd you

I really appreciated the post on your website you referred me to and believe others would also. I would suggest that as Jessica (above) says you should request comments for the post in site comments.

Regards,
Roger

Hi, Roger. If traffic doesn't come to you, you might need to go after it.

This can be done in several ways. You can start spreading your wings on Social Media. You can also start guest blogging on other sites which are related to your niche. Adding a YouTube channel helps as well. Try to go to other sites, always related to your line, and add comments to their posts. Try to find those which you can leave your URL when you sign in your details. This is a backlink to your site...
Get involved in forums...leaving your URL in your comments (but don't do this immediately as you might get kicked out). Take it easy...get the feel of things...and then start sowing your seeds back to your website.
Quora is also a fabulous place to drop your links to your website when you answer people's questions...

Hi James,

Thanks so much for the response and your thoughts.

I am on facebook, google plus, pinterest, twitter and quora but mostly as a looker. I have got to get more involved by asking, commenting or answering.

What I haven't done is create or used key words for writing articles/blogs. Presently I have no plan and looking at what others find works.

Thanks,
Roger

Hi Roger...Keywords are an important factor, but check out LSI keywords. Google has updated its algorythms and is giving LSI keywords a great deal of importance as a ranking factor.

Hi James,
Thanks for the tip. I've made a note of it and will be checking it out today.
Regards,
Roger

One issue might be that you have 3 websites - that means that you spread out too much, and if you put all your effort into one site it will quicker become a success. Once it is a success you can start other sites.

But if you have limited time it is better tp just focus on building one successful site.

Mikael

Hi Mike,
You are absolutely right. In the future I plan on putting 50% of my time into training activities and WA; 40% into my main site and 5 into each of the other two sites.

If that doesn't work I'll go 70% main site and 30% training.

Appreciated,
Roger
