Confidence and Learning
One of my favorite philosophers, Eric Hoffer writes, "The central task of education is to implant a will and a facility for learning; it should produce not learned but learning people."
In the early 1990s I stopped teaching students and began facilitating learners learning. It was the most personal rewarding and meaningful change I ever made in my professional life. Little did I know, but I was changing myself into a lifelong learner through the efforts.
My main goal in life is not retirement, but rather to learn and to create learning environments for others (especially Seniors) to better appreciate/understand their heritage and the new technologies that affect us all.
Here at Wealthy Affiliate I can be both - a confident learner.

What a great change in perspective Roger, thank you. I've always considered myself a terrible "teacher"... and probably because I've thought of it as "brute force" task so to speak. The teacher teaches, the learner learns...
I had never thought of it as being a facilitator of learning, which changes the entire dynamic and makes it more meaningful for both the facilitator and the learner.

I was teaching up North on a reserve and it sure made a difference when the kids changed from students to learners.
Before I had to go out in the bush to find the kids and bring them back in after recess. After, at recess, I had to chase them outside for some exercise and not let them back in for 15 minutes,
Hey, things have changed so much since back in the day. I am a Senior who is learning everyday, although I know several who refuse to even try and that is sad. We are never too old to learn.
There are a lot of Seniors that will benefit from your help. That banner looks really good!

Thanks so much for your supportive comments. I am still at the point of learning from my mistakes, but will persist. Gaining the trust of seniors, given the scams out there, is no easy task.
As a close senior, I totally understand that the learning curves have changed and we need to adapt to the change or we will be left behind.
Live the Life you Love
Changing requires learning and learning creates the endorphins in my brain which bring me joy. I don't need liquor or pot to feel good and instead get a good book or complete courses at Wealthy Affiliate.
That's wonderful our seniors spent their lives raising families the best they could and sacrificing themselves, now it's time for them to enjoy some or all of what the missed.
I just hope that the Blockchain can re-establish the trust that I knew as a young boy in the 40's and 50's.
There were very few scammers in the communities I lived in and a persons handshake and word were better than a written contract. Politicians were trusted.
Way to go Roger, nothing beats learning better than showing other folks the possibilities that are out there, best wishes.

Doing what one says, thinks and feels in their heart is the best attempt to act with congruity. Often the opposite seems to be too common and people act as they think and feel in private, not as they say.

Hi Roger, I really liked your post. What you say is so true. Our learning process should never end. We are never too old to learn and move forward in life. I've never been able to accept the statement " I am too old to learn" . I have always felt that we need to learn all we can before we leave this life on earth. I am sure that we will need it.
