How do I make my landing page display the menu and widgets I created. Once I changed my first page from Default to landing all of the menu disapeared. Any advice will be very he

When you say Menu and Widgets, are you referring to the listing of your posts (blog roll)? Meaning like what I have on my website Home page here? - http://legitimatejobfromhome.com

If that is what you mean, then you have to switch back to the default setting. The WordPress default setting shows your blog roll which are all of the posts you create.

Well yes I figured that one way to do this would be use the default settings. Number 1 I watched both Name a Niche I'll Build the Site parts one and parts two. I thought they were outstanding training BUT Jay 1) contradicts the classroom training and makes the Home Page a landing page the classroom training does it the other way around. I've no problem with this and actually like the idea of the landing page being a page not a blog roll. 2) Part Two doesn't finish anything. I've bookmarked the website Jay created and http://rcquadcoptercamera.com/ is nothing but a black bordered video of a quadopter and a defiinition and link to a WIki. SO WHAT! That is not finishing what you started. in my opinion since he was already ranking page 1 at the time why he did not actually finish what he started. That is make the menu, make content, and most important monetize the website. I do believe all of this should have appeared in a Part 3. I joined this site to learn affiliate marketing and make money. I am an educator. The first thing at our new quarterly faculty meeting that was spoken of by the Dean was BE CONSISTENT. . I've no issues with these courses they are the best I have ever seen on this topic and priced fairly. I do however take grave offense at the lack of consistency. It only causes mass confusion. I would like to see Jay complete http://rcquadcoptercamera.com/ for us. I think it's only fair for what I am paying. I spent a lot of my time watching and using the techniques described in Build a Site I and II. I intent to write him everyday until this is resolved. Thanks for your reply your site looks great;

Thank you Dan for your comment on my website and I can totally understand your frustration. Personally I do not watch Jay's video classrooms that often. I mainly follow what Kyle teaches and what are in the classrooms.

Everyone, including myself, are going to have varying opinions about how to do things. I believe since the main course in affiliate marketing is written by Kyle and Carson, that it is their guidance that I will follow. I will only use advice from Jay that does not contradict the training and that fills in the gaps, so to speak.

I know Jay advocates having a static Home (Landing) page and Kyle & Carson do not. Of my 3 websites, my first 2 had what Jay advocates and my 3rd, as you have seen, has the blog roll. I get better rankings on my Home page with the blog roll than I do on a static page. I found out from external sources that having a blog roll as the Home page gives a slight advantage in rankings because it is always fresh content, meaning every time you add a new post, the page is updated.

That is my personal take on the Kyle & Carson vs Jay contradiction training. The choice of how you proceed is up to you. But personally, I would rather stick with the Kyle & Carson way because they are the ones who have proven it before Jay made his way.

Thanks for the new tips. I appreciate the comments. I'll have to see about changing the way things are done at this point.

After watching Jay's Video You Tell me the Niche, I Build the Site

Hello Dan, good question, but you don't show the link to the site and whether it is under siterubix or your own.

I have two sites I started with the traditional training and after watching Jay's video it would help if someone could let me know how to erase the website and start over again. I think that Jay's tutorial is great but there elements in the traditional training such as the Genesis Framework that is not covered. They are now on the WA servers. I just want to start over with them. I'm glad I only got two up so far. I think one is going to need more WordPress work but this one http://suboxone-opiate-detox.com/ needs to be re-done. I did install the framework but the front page is a Blog Roll not static. I had made multiple pages as well. I guess it was good for practice but not the 100% correct way to do this. Thanks for the response.

I don,t think you have to start from scratch. I think is a matter of going over the tutorials about the Settings from the Dashboard to chage pages from static to dynamic or viceversa. I do not know enough about it but you made a goo. Just some tweaks to add.d start

You may be correct. One thing that is a pain in the butt is changing your front page. It's not actually listed as a page but a blog unless you delete the sample page and make one page the static landing page and the others Blog pages. I did it on Siterubrix and man it was a real nightmare but got it done. Guess I'll just buckle down and make it happen. I did find a plugin on the web that erases everything here

Not sure I'm ready to go that far yet!

Thanks for the reply and the link. Good luck.

I am a little confused the Certification Course appears to be the same content as the free starter course. Where do premium members go from there?

If you've done the lessons, then go to the Certification courses and the Affiliate Bootcamp if you have not one it. John

You could continue with the certification lessons, there are more then just level 1. However, if you, like myself, already have good online marketing experience you could go directly to the bootcamp and also skip many of their beginners lessons :-)

Hi. The Certification Courses leave off from the starter course. This is where you should go to continue your training. :)

So you are saying continue through the starter lessons onto the Certification Courses? I've done 1 to 10. What else is there?

If I understand you correctly, you have finished the starter course. Now, you need to move into the 5 Certification Courses. They build on each other and help you to get your website out of the "bare bones" stage. You will find much more in-depth training from here.

Each of the 5 Certification Courses has 10 lessons within it, so you still have a very long ways to go. :)

I'm a little confused. I worked through the first 10 lessons. OK signed up for premium level and worked through the Affiliate Bootcamp. What else is available? What is the differen

Thanks. I found the 2nd level where it starts to talk about migrating your website to the WA servers. I bought a domain for a buck on GoDaddy today but am going to use Name Cheap after watching the video. What I am doing is using Jaaxy and Google Alphabet Soup to meter domain names I want. I then write them down if they are available. I intend to build multiple websites and blogs of things I have a passion for and do well on Ebay with. Years ago I had number 1 ranked domains for the Daytona Bike Week (still have it and a ton of unpublished content to boot) and a rock and roll video website that was the prototype for YouTube. Made money back then why not now?? Thanks again everyone

Ah seems like you're on the ball and focused on a couple of sweet niche ideas there.
What you're going to get out of premium is the ability to make sure your content stays in the serps and probably a lot cheaper than you did before.

Throw in a link and let us help you with the current sites you have too

I'm smiling here...
Where are the fruits of your first 10 lessons?

Hold your mouse over the certification courses listed on the left 5 courses will appear and seven for bootcamp.

Also go to classrooms and you will see loads of training added by members. Then search the site with the search bar at the top for anything that comes to mind and you will find blog posts and training.

Also the live video classes have years of training to go through. More than enough to keep you busy for a while.

Did you finish all 5 course's. There is more that just one course with 10 lessons. It would be difficult to finish all 5 in just the week you have been here.

No I finished the first free member courses. Then went premium. I got some direction as to follow the course levels at the end of the free membership level. Hence I am now working on the second website, I am starting off simple with the Templates. I've never really got a good handle on WordPress. Right now I'm going along with the templates until I figure out how to customize to my liking. Years ago I had a website that ranked no. 1 in the Webcrawler index. it still exist as a test bed at http://www.missbikeweek,com I did this with FrontPage 2003 years ago. i've taught HTML 4.0 at the University level but still have some great books on HTML 5 and CSS3 which I need to study. I got my hands full, One of the perks of being a professor is books. I may be teaching again at ITT LINUX at least I hope so. So maybe more books, Thanks for all the comments

Free membership is free forever but the free membership is li limited. Your communicaton and blog priviliges is cut off. Since you went through the training already there is also paid traffic you might want to look at. Just do a search here for bing ads. There is a few lessons on it.

Hope this helps..
