With the excitement about ChatGPT, what's going to happen with SEO as we know it? Will things stay largely the same or will they shift so I'll have to pivot with to a new way o

Great thread, thank you!

Using AI to write an article is 100% detectable, so that’s not the path to take moving forward. It will still come down to good SEO practices and writing content ourselves. :) AI can be a great tool for ideas, but the work still has to be done by us.

Gotcha. Since Bing is now using AI in their algorithms (or using AI within their search engine) will bing become a more relevant search engine than google?

Short answer. No.

Its ALL going to come to mastering the prompts. Just because GPT will do what you want, but you have to know the basics of what you need to ask it. to know what the prompt would be. So I predict a surge of "Prompting" class all over then internet. Fiverr overload for prompter something, watch and see ill bet I'm correct. Woo eee! I'm learning so much!!! Here's something out of my mind that I created and open a.i. spit it out for me. You see? You are still one step ahead of maybe the next guy because you're probably a master SEO dude that can help people, business rank high and so you're sure to utilize the a.i. and just master your prompts, really. Open A>I. is my assistant sometimes.

Gotcha. Thank you for the example

I'm struggling to get non-copyrighted photos to use as featured images for my blog posts. For instance, I review books as part of my niche, but I cannot simply copy an image fr

Hi Robert, one of my sites is in a similar niche, and I've had the same problem. I think there's a new solution to this, although, with other projects I have going on, I haven't dug into it just yet.

I'm looking to see if A.I. art can solve this problem. People are now making full comic books using AI programs like Midjourney and Dall-E to illustrate them. Jasper AI has also introduced Jasper Art but I'm not sure if it's as advanced as the others.

So, for your situation, you may be able to describe scenes and characters to the A.I. and have it create images that capture the story in some way. Those would be unique photos that have no copyright.

I've watched some tutorials for these programs, and there's a learning curve. At least for now anyway. I'm sure it won't be long before we get more user-friendly versions, but this could be one possible solution.

That’s great to know. Thank you for the recommendation here. I’ll look into that

Don't assume that when you take your own photo of the book that belongs to you. You could still get in trouble for using that one because that image is of a copyrighted item.

You have access to those images if you belong to an affiliate program. Who are you trying to sell the books through?

You're right. The only purpose for taking a photo of the book cover is to use it as a featured image for my book review blog post. I am an Amazon affiliate, which I can get their encoded link picture but I cannot convert that into a featured image.

It's becoming more evident that I may have to contact each publisher and ask permission to use a photo of their book, which I think is excessive.

Yeah, I know it's a pain, but copyright can be very nasty. Using a photo of their cover that way can lead to a very expensive legal challenge. I've seen it, and even experienced it once. I want to save you from going through that. You may need to rethink the "featured image" plan so that the images you get from Amazon will still work.

Also when you affiliate with a publishing company they would give you material and unique coded links which you can use to promote on your website.

Then problem is solved.

You would need content and TRAFFIC before you can apply for affiliate programs, as they would check those elements prior approval.

You should also always comply with affiliation terms and conditions.

Yes, I'm affiliate with Amazon. However, the photo comes via a coded link, as you said, that I cannot replicate into a featured image for a blog post unless I screenshot and make my own, which is not within Fair Use. So my question boils down to what is Fair Use and what is copyright infringement?

I click the highlighted mountain button. Or You can also work with Canva and design impeccable graphics especially with a pro subscription an avenue for you to consider.

Thank you for the list of free image sources. I have used Pixaby a lot in the past.

You can look up a book using any source, and take a screenshot.
You may want to attribute said screenshot by naming your image file as screenshot from website. Jpeg.
When you use the image on your website, you cange change the website image title without changing the actual file name.
This is a legal way to CYA.

Rudy

I have thought about doing that as well. However, not all photos can be used even when attribution is provided. What do you mean by changing the website image title without changing the actual file name?

Depends on the photo when it comes to licensing, attribution, etc.

Renaming a file:

For easy explaining, copy any image, if able to, and paste it into a file. Chances are, the file is named. The titl4 name may describe the image or simply record the location, like a image file downloaded from your camera, which usuallyshows the day and time and an ID number. When you change an original image, never change it, instead save it as a Save As, to keep original image.
Similar to using a master copy when printing. Making a copy from a copy only degrades the product.

When you save a new image file, rename it so you can find it easier. Upload to computer then rename the title for the article or blog post.

Now I think I will do a quick training soon to show instead of texting...grin.

An example is when you use remove.bg to create a transpatent image. When you save the download, notice that the file will be your image name, followed by /remove.bg-preview.

By posting the image with the preview tag, that shows attribution. Cool thing about remove.bg is that is not required.

A long time ago, I was told that as long as you keep the original file location in the file, granted, this was at a time when I was coding and not using WPress, you would not be stealing becausethe file name provided all of the info needed.

This tape will self-destruct after you read this...grin.

I go with the usual, even with a static homepage.

Create a new and add pages, posts and categories however feasible. You can also make a mega menu down the line, that would include media clickable links. The sky the limit. However one thing I keep it discreet, relevant and simple.

Sounds good. Thank you! I'll check these out.

One way to do that would be either by creating large buttons, or clickable image links.

More often than not, though, your audience is so used to navigating via a menu that it may be just as good to keep it simple.

Totally up to you :)

Gotcha. I'm also trying to reduce the website load time, so I thought a static site would work better. I can see that, though. Any ideas on how to get the images side-by-side on Wordpress?

About once per month, I get a spike in traffic. When I go and see the source of the traffic via Google Analytics, it says that it's coming from bot traffic sites or bitly sites

Go to wordpress plugin page>add new and type in 'block spam bots' and look at the plugins that appear. Find the one that works for you, install and activate the plugin.

Rudy

Good to go. I'll try that out. Thank you for your response!

You're welcome!

Thank you for your response! I don't receive any subscriptions from these bots. Just the boost in traffic. It throws off my Analytic stats...
