Its Hard Work Working From Home

Hi Folks

I see so many people joining WA, and it amazes that people believe that they can work from home, type something on their computer each day and then the money will just come flowing in.

Then there are those same old questions being asked over and over again. "When will I make money?" and "How long until that happens?", "How many hours do I have to work?"

A fellow WA member asked me yesterday how my day was going and as usual I said ok and I was working getting things done. I must add that I didn't expect to finish 'Getting Things Done' until late that night.

When you're thinking about starting a home based business, keep in mind you will need to put in many hours and much effort to get the business off the ground.

As I sit here in front of my PC on this Sunday morning, a visitor would be mistaken for thinking that working from home is easy. But then that is before you take into account my daily routine:

I get up somewhere between 5.30 and 6 am, shower and get dressed, (Jeans & T-Shirt) make myself a cup of tea and then by 7 o'clock I'm sat in front of my computer reading my emails and responding to the numerous enquiries for more information on my home business.

Then after an hour I start my daily traffic exchange surfing, forum posting, Yahoo and Social Media group blasting and so on....This daily routine of promotion and advertising takes me until around noon. My afternoon is usually uptown and taken up with following up prospects, updating my websites and writing, writing, and more writing.

In between when I can remember I have something to eat and I usually finish for the day at around 9 pm. I always leave the computer on for another hour and check my emails again before switching off. Its not long after that I'm in bed.

I work longer hours on my home business now full time from home than I did when I worked a normal day job. Then I started at 9 am, leaving the house at around 8.30 am, I had an hour for lunch and a couple of breaks during the day and finished at 5.00 pm, being back home by 5.30 pm. Now I start at 7.00 am and finish at 9 pm with the odd trip to the kitchen to make a cup of tea and half an hour for lunch.

Of course I wouldn't, and don't think I could go back to working for someone else and doing a normal 9 to 5 job but why do people think working from home is easy? And why are so many people scared of putting in some good old fashioned hard work to make their home based business a success.

Working from home, whether you are in a MLM program, an affiliate program or running your own website. Selling your own product, promoting someone else's, getting sales or earning commissions and following up prospects all takes time and effort.

You must put in this time and effort to get your business off the ground. You must do the promotion required to get those sales, you must follow up with your customers, update your website and answer emails and so on.

Anyone who joins an affiliate program, becomes a distributor for a company or starts their own home based business must be prepared to work at it. They will usually work much harder than they would going to the office, driving a truck or going to a building site each day and working for someone else.

If you are afraid of a little hard work, then do not attempt to start you own home based business because the bottom line is you will fail. If hard work is a dirty word to you, stick to working for someone else.

If you are prepared to put in the hard slog and really work at it, then you will find working from home very rewarding and in the long run, be it one, two or three years down the line, you will be successful. Never forget, your success will be proportional to the hard work you put in at the beginning.

Stick at it....you will succeed.

There you go folks and I'm sure I struck a cord with many of the people who are here to build their own home business and eventually be financially independent. Once they achieve that they will of course never have to work for someone else for the rest of their working life and beyond.

Perhaps you could share your own experiences with your fellow members. Do so via a comment below.

Have a good one and be successful.

Robert Allan

I guess some people think that building an online business is easy is because of all the promotions out there that make it sound that way.
Im here for the long haul. Working for someone else is not a good option for my future.

Thanks Robert

Hi Mark and thank you for your comment.
I work long and hard because that's the sort of person I am mark.
I give 110% and anything less is not good enough in my book.
Hope you're having a great Sunday.
Robert

When you are the one in charge, you can't pass the buck. Success or failure, you're the cause.

Yes as someone once said - The buck stops here.

Thank you for dropping by Grant and have a great day whatever you're up to.
Robert

Gary Player was once asked in an interview how he relied on luck.
His answer was :"the more I practice the luckier I get"
So true - great post.

Hello David and thank you for dropping by and for your comment.
I believe you make your own luck in business whatever you do.
But a little luck goes a long way I've been told.
Hope you're having a good one.
As for me, so far so good as the guy said halfway down after falling off the Empire State Building lol.

Robert

Thank you Paplo and hope you are hard at it.
Have a good one anyway whatever you are doing.
Robert

So true and wise, Robert. Once you gain the knowledge and know what to do, succeeding at building your own home business is all about the elbow grease!

Hello Kaju
Yes a lot to be said for good old elbow grease
Do you know the song? Maybe a wee bit before your time.
Thank you for stopping by and reading about my day.

Cheers to you as well.

Wasn't me anyway lol.

How hard it is to work with the mind!

Just as tiring as physical labour Jimmy.
I know I'm tired at the end of the day and ready for sleep.
Have a great day today and a successful week.
Robert

And it could be more stressful than the physical activity.

Wise words spoken by somebody "in the know"...

Thank you for your kind words James.
Now its back to the hard slog lol.
Thank you for reading my blog.
Robert

Thank you Robert. This is a wake-up call for some and a reality check for others. For a few of us lucky ones, it's not work when you're passionate about what you're doing, e.g. me personally, I like interacting with folks, I'm passionate about trying to help people, I like contributing valuable content on my website that will better someone else's life, etc..

Now I know why you're top 50. Rank 27! Thanks for letting me join your network!

Cheers!
Don

Hello Don and thank you for your comment.
I have been helping people for as long as I can remember and its really second nature to me now after all those years.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the rank Don.
I have actually been an Ambassador seven times.
I must add its not, and never has been my goal to achieve this status.

Whats that saying -

Some People are born great
Some people achieve greatness
And
Some people have greatness thrust upon them.

I guess I'm in that last one lol.

Have a good Sunday whatever you're doing.
Robert
